  • It is the largest private park in Venice. Like the entire island, it was redeveloped in the 1950s. It is characterized by tree-lined avenues and hedges of different heights with different species. In more recent years, the park has undergone some interventions, following a respectful approach to the natural arrangement assumed by the vegetation over time.
Built starting from 1952 based on the design by architects Luigi Vietti and Angelo Scattolin, using materials accumulated during the restoration works on the Island, the Teatro Verde is an open-air amphitheater. It can accommodate up to 1484 spectators and is located in the heart of the park on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Modeled after ancient Greek and Roman theaters and with reference to open-air theaters that adorned Venetian villas between the Renaissance and the 18th century, the Teatro Verde consists of white Vicenza stone steps interspersed with hedges of privet plants.
