You can option select bird kick and lighting legs if you're not sure if you have charge or not and always end in a special move. Start holding down, half circle forward through to up, kick. If you held down long enough, you get bird kick which is better, if not you still get legs. Really useful for quick punishes.
Wtf I never thought of doing this lol. Thanks I mean now I can get sbk every time I want but it would've been more useful when I was learning her haha. Still nice to know though.
Juri and Cammy are getting the most skins in this game for sure though. Juri is already out pacing Chun-li with costumes. The only reason Chun-li had the most was because Akiman himself wanted to design 6 costumes for the game and Japanese devs are super loyal so they weren't going to deny his requests. If you look at how who actually received the most costumes from Capcom removing the Akiman costumes Juri and Cammy had more than Chun-li. Not only that but Cammy and Juri are also more popular in 6 than they were in 5 so there is no way those 2 aren't getting the most costumes in the game. With how popular Marisa is as well I wouldn't even doubt if she sells more costumes considering she's already getting one along with Juri.

I thought it was neat seeing Haitani playing Chun in top 6, even though he didn't do that well on the main stage. She's one of my favorites even though I'm in permanent character crisis. And I know he's a million times better then me, but I still don't see the point of Modern Chun. You still have to charge her charge moves, and I'm thinking there's better characters if all you want is one button supers and DPs.
I had a similar experience. I gave Modern Chun a try after seeing how well Haitani at Evo and his 72 win-streak earlier. I was expecting to find it much more comfortable because I struggle with classic inputs. But something about her in modern just felt... wrong... To me, it feels like her greatest strength is the breadth of her moveset. None of her tools are exceptionally powerful on their own but put together the total package is very formidable. And therefore, the joy of learning to play her is finding the right tools for the different situations. Modern, I felt, kinda ruins that experience. Now, I didn't put anywhere near the same number of hours into it as Haitani has nor am I anywhere near as good of a player as he is. I have also spent all this time learning classic Chun so I am used to that. So perhaps this is my bias talking but that's just my two cents. I will keep trying with Modern though. I'd like to see whether it grows on me with time.
I really don't understand the argument of it's not good because you still have to charge. Of course you have to or it would be 3DS Guile all over again. I really don't think people truly understand the benefit of being able to input a fireball while still being able to maintain charge in modern with ez mode anti airs. It saves you way more time especially if you are playing on Arcade stick. Modern Chun-li is cracked and has all the tools you need in modern. 1: Invincible level 1 super that anti airs and is good for burnout 2: Ridiculous ez mode antiairs 3 :Powerful anti firball super 4: Still keep the important normals especially defensively. Chun-li is better than even Cammy in modern because Cammy loses cr mp which is her main defensive normal so Cammy to get out of pressure situations can only jab > drive rush since she has no counter hit confirms from lights in modern, Chun-li can still combo CH LP > cr mk or back mp. 4: Ez instant air legs is so good especially since it let's you actually get damage for guessing correctly on a meaty throw and no character has that.
@@MDToboggan Yeah, those are good supers for modern, but I figured most characters have better supers in modern so it didn’t really make her special. But I guess her combination of her level 1 and 2 probably does have better synergy then a lot of characters. That’s also why I figured the easy up kicks was a net neutral since other characters can do that too, and since to to me down down seems easy. Plus, I guess I never stopped to think of what the actual input for fireball was. I’m guessing neutral special, so you can hold back and keep charge as you say? I remember hearing that there was a glitch where you could get the fireballs out with less charge, but I guess even without that I can see the appeal if you get the timing down. But instant air legs doesn’t seem like a big deal, can’t you just tiger knee it like a Baiken Yozansen?

I like down down inputs in Melty, but it's awkward when you put it on a charge character like Chun and don't let downback downback work for it, or even downback neutral down. That's what I dislike about them, if I'm sitting on downback my brain says I already have the down and just need to return to neutral and hit down again, but my brain is not right about what the game wants.
Yeah the input reader makes it feel super weird and disjointed to do the input. You literally have to pause whatever you’re doing for a split second and then do down down, or it’ll come out as a crouching kick. And I can only speak for myself but doing that in a match is really hard.
Chun's 4MP is cancellable into pretty much anything. Special, Super, and even SS Stance. All off of a i7 that's only -3 on block. The First Lady of Fighting Games is still alive and kicking.
Technically speaking, every normal can cancel into serenity stance even if it whiffs. 4/6MP specifically is +5 on hit and +1 on block when SS cancelled which seems strong, but since SS normals are slower than average it still mostly trades or loses to mash on block, and only converts to something on hit if you're close enough to SS LP. That being said, it's still a goated command normal - almost matching 2MK in range but having considerably more cancel frames, makeing it a go to for hitconfirms and baiting DI, plus you can DRC it for full combo or just link it into EX legs for a quick knockdown. Condition your opponent enough and then you *can* safely SS cancel it for a cheeky poke - it's just not really a go to option
