Gotta be honest, I personally think that the PW510 image is the sharpest and clearest of the lot.
For sure, I think his complain about coloring is more like the sharpness is not hiding the wrinkles and eye bags as good as a lower quality logitech streamcam
Dude, AVermedia has always released solid products and I've always chosen their Capture Cards over Elgato's. PLEASE release this camera AVermedia. I have a mighty NEED.
Avermedia is surprisingly underrepresented on YT which is a shame. Their devices have never done me wrong. I'm still using the original LGX capture card and it does an amazing job.
Zero Excuse I love the Avermedia Capture cards, and it’s never let me down. Always good to see more competition.
Software tends to be lacking though. Lot of products the stop driver updates after a year

i would jump on this SO Fast.... as far as a "webcam" goes, it ticks every box i have... even as a second or third camera next to a dedicated DSLR primary, it's perfect
AVermedia hit it on that one... I personally think it is much better then the LOGITec Stream Cam! Just from watching this video the clarity seems so much better. Plus having that high viewing area is excellent. Keeps things in a better perspective while giving off the look of shooting from a further distance. I'd pick it up, I use a 20' x 20' green screen set up. I'd be able to expand my image overlays for sure. "So much more room for activities" lol good vid! keep us posted.
That logo animation looks so sick! Edit; It looks like there's some postprocessing going on with the avermedia camera, as it reminds me of when you're trying to upscale an old movie in vlc, and it has those crispy edges to people's faces, which doesn't look natural.
I would like to know how it performs against the brio 4k
The AverMedia Cam has an Exmor-Sensor from Sony which is used in many of their DSLMs. Just check the Product Page.
I think I fell in love with the dynamic range of the AVermedia cam. When you look at highlights next to dark objects (the acoustic foam and the stick light in the background) it really shines. It doesn't "bleed" light over which is awesome.
Working in the industry I see a lot of Aver Cameras. GREAT customer service. I always talk with one guy there and he is always helpful. For the most part the cameras work but we do get a good amount of bad apples (broken out of the box). Excited to see this unit in the near future.
This webcam in my country (Chile) has been in the market for quite a while actually, the price of the webcam i think it is around 349 to 399usd, cant really give a solid answer here since stores sometimes charge more than usual where i live
To me, the AVermedia PW510 is crisper than the Logitech StreamCam. I focus more on the eyes when it comes to cameras (The photographer in me). Your eyes are super crisp on the left and are really soft on the right. I personally don't mind the color, the little bit of red makes the image look better to me and not so bland. As a Video Editor myself, AVermedia PW510 can be manipulated during edits and not lose the nice image quality really would help. Thank you for this video, it was super helpful!
The moment you showed the 4k 25p image, it looked awesome. Especially the "Washed out" look. The 1080p mode not so much. Too much sharpening going on.

Hi man! Just subscribed because since yesterday, I've been watching ALL your videos as I want to start streaming in Twitch, and I'm looking for a nice budget setup. Wanted to tell you that all your videos are super useful, keep doing what you are doing because it's great! Also wanted to ask you: have you tried using action cams like the GoPro or others that are cheap on Amazon (around $70) as a webcam? This cameras most of the time have 4k 30fps, or 1080 60fps and also have a wide angle lens. I'm thinking to grab one of those for myself. If you haven't, can you make a video on that? I think it would help not only me, but a lot of new streamers that might have this cameras as an option.
Finally A good cam, i tough it will never happen, Now the question is will we one day see a good one in laptop xd

i have a camera for my main stream cam but this imo is the perfect room cam that field of view and 4k is perfect for that if they can do this for a price that is decent im all over this
Ummm conference webcams are usually one of the highest resolution webcams and are really good in a room that is well lit. Having it in an environment like yours, yeah you can tell it’s not that great but it’s crisp though.
Why not compare it to the Logitech Brio? That does 4k 30fps.
Have you reviewed the Razer Kiyo?

There is a webcam I found for about 38$ that I'm using for a fitness streams 2nd angle that has a "100 degree fov". It is an Asian-brand webcam the Unzano stream webcam 1080p/1536p or Spedal webcam. Its image quality isn't as good I feel in comparison to the go-to c920 or even this camera but I was inspired to find it after your first webcam video and the goal was for a just chatting or intermission angle for low cost. I'm glad there are really good alternatives coming for streamers.
so this model has been "discontinued" for a new line coming out in the fall marketed as a "game streaming cam". Sounds like theres a greedy price hike incoming
Would love to see a vid of how to get the best out of your C920. When I try to setup mine, the image quality looks almost like I'm sitting in a smokey or foggy room. I've tried playing with the settings, but ugh, if I go with more sharpness, it makes me look 90 yrs old (not there yet lol). Any suggestions? LOVE your channel and discord, btw :)
In November or so AVermedia released the CAM340, which seems to have the same specs as this one, and the CAM340+ with 4K@30fps and 120° FOV. The latter is listed for at least 399 € in the EU with the typically bad availability at the moment.
Pretty interesting cams on the one hand, but on the other hand I think at this price point a cheap DSLR or mirrorless would offer a better image quality, more versatility (but less usability though).
Very basic question, can almost all digital cameras be used as a streaming camera? Like could my sister's CoolPix from 2012 possbly work? She doesn't for anything and I know for a fact it has a better lens than my c920.
If it has clean HDMI output, you can use it with a capture card. Most digital cameras don't have a webcam functionality using a data cable like a USB, though.
I guess with all this talk about webcams being trash I'm wondering, "why not re-purpose a GoPro?" A GoPro Hero5 Session can be found renewed on Amazon for $130 USD. Onboard FPV flights are being recorded and uploaded to UA-cam from these things. They are reliable, small, and record in really good quality. The regular Hero 6, or 7, can be found under $200 also. Sure, there's a little extra involved in the connection to a computer, but with adapters it's still around, or under, 200 bucks depending on what model GoPro you pick up.
Now that AVerMedia has announced the PW513, what are your thoughts about their updated product and how it compares to the PW510?
Now what if you compare this webcam to the logitech brio? Seems as if those two would be closer in comparison and I'm interested in your thoughts between them.

in all fairness the c920 box is also massive for whats inside. almost 80% is waste cardboard only the top 20% was really needed
I picked up a stream cam for business zoom calls. What usb c female to usb a male do you recommend? I’m getting a new laptop in four months so I want to be thinking ahead, but I also need a streaming capable adapter for now. Thanks 👍
It’s based on the CAM340, released in 2017. You can find some online, but it’s been discontinued. The new CAM340+ is available, which has 120 degree field of view and 4K @ 30 FPS. Cisco/Tandberg should get into the consumer webcam market. The Tandberg PrecisionHD USB does only 720p but captures more detail than the Avermedia and Logitech offerings. It's a product for a totally different market, but the tech is there.
Movies being 24fps is just industry standard. What changes from a webcam is the shutter speed and sensor size, because, you know, Hollywood loves HUGE cameras. Color science is also a major factor that changes.
One last thing they do in edit is adding Optical Flow, which makes it look smoother even though the framerate is not even 30.
24 frames per second doesn't seem choppy in a movie is because they intentionally blur moving shots to create a more fluid effect. When you remove that blur, it gives it that weird soap opera quality you sometimes see on improperly configured HDTVs.

I much prefer the video quality of the AVermedia to the Logitech. In the side-by-side comparisons you look WAY sharper, there's far more detail and to me personally the colours look more natural and pleasing to the eye. Your top, for instance, looks more colourful in the AVermedia capture and more drab and almost "washed out" or faded in the Logitech one. I really hope AVermedia starts selling their awesome webcam!!!

I have a question about the Elgato Streamdeck XL. Does it have an option for picture & picture?
When like in Twitch you can stream on 4K? 1080P60 is yet the max what I know. Also 720P60 or 720P is probably yet the most used one to stream on Twitch. Only difference just comes how good the image looks. Even I think the game image is the most important anyway.

Hmmm, seems to me a small DLSR with HDMI out through a magewell capture dongle to USB port, could support a much bigger lens and higher definition with auto tracking. AND maybe even portable recording with a laptop or atomos recorder. Just saying...

In regards to the 25fps, I'd be curious if it would look more "filmic" if motion blur were added. 25fps is also not quite right (24fps is film fps), though I'm not sure how much that would grate on people's expectations. All fun experiments!
It's weird to see, that after showing the comparison of the two, switching back to the dslr your image looks nearly crappy, beacuse of the lighting making your face sooo contrasty.

At first sight, it reminded me about the MEVO cam.
My only issue is that their B2B cameras run in the thousands of dollhairs... their cheapest is almost 700,- Euro,
for that money you can get better value out of a camera with a power adapter any day, so I'm curious how much they can kick it down by removing smart tracking and such.
For now, dude, careful with that prototype it might be a pricey piece of hardware

This cam looks like a small movi cam, but I'd say a $199 price tag wouldn't be terrible as it's still a webcam. It'd be hard to charge anymore than that when you could get a camera to use if you saved up for another month or two

I just did some research on the webcam. They discontinued the project and so it will NOT be available. But they are going to release another webcam before fall 2020!

Just my thought, but I prefer the look of the AVermedia cam to the logitech stream cam AND the DSLR. The AVermedia looks crisper and more defined than the stream cam, and the DSLR just has way too much going on trying to make it look better.
In AVermedia there is more sharpness and pink tone than in LogiTech
The AVerMedia has comparable quality to your DSLR

Not on the right account but, I have to ask, and it's probably a seemingly crazy question, but my C920 will work with my xbox, or it did, and my computer is out of date for streaming, so at times, and with certain games, I stream them direct from console, yes yes, insert laughs and such, however, I would be interested in knowing if this will work with the xbox one, one x, or perhaps the upcoming sx series, just until I can get my computer "up to code" (the AVermedia and about $100 would be a comparable price to other cams)
Was about to buy this for $300 from a local price gouger, def not now. I want it just to make basic UA-cam tutorials lol I don't know what I'll get with what's actually available right now, but resellers have the market cornered in LA
I wouldnt pay more than 80-100 $ I think the 4k feature is basically useless so that shouldnt actually have an effect on pricing imo but overall its obviously better than the other webcams on the market so it should be priced as such ??? but I mean if they were to charge close to the same as a c920 I feel like the it would do incredibly well
In movie theaters I thought it looked smooth because they showed each frame twice actually giving it a 48 frame per second rate but only using 24 frames? Any film graduates want to chime in on why this is because I honestly don't know? I only took 2 film classes and it was not part of my degree so I am very unknowledgeable on this topic.

Looks pretty good, would pay around $120 for it. Definitely too sharp in the video though, I'd probably turn it down to 1 instead of the 2 it was set at.

See here's the thing. There's nothing inherently wrong with liking a 94 degree camera angle and having 4K25/30 FPS being an option as an available resolution, but there are certain and frankly more then common circumstances where people don't need/want those features. And in this example, the StreamCam looked better out of box.The Aver-media camera needed some adjustment, again, nothing wrong with that, it's the same with microphones and such. But i personally think that if this camera was the same price as the stream cam, i would still buy the Logitech offering. The features just aren't persuasive and useful enough for me to buy a more expensive offering.
25 fps is not "choppy". Cinema is 24 frames/sec and it's not choppy. TV in more than half the world is 25 fps and also not choppy.

Movies that are filmed in 24fps have a shutter speed of 1/50 there fore it looks smooth not choppy, the camera might be running something higher making it choppy
I hope they listen to what you say and improve upon it. It would be a great buy for new people to streaming if the price is similar to the logitech and now has the potential to be even better if they listen to your feedback.
I personally think the avermedia cam looks better and a more natural skin color.
What you called the "magenta" color actually looks more natural than the bluish green tint from logitech

Comparing a digital camera to film makes no sense. Film is 24 FPS, sure, but every frame captures 1/24th of a second. There's motion blur in every frame. These days, movies are still 24FPS but (usually) shot digitally, so they add motion blur in post to make the end result look smooth, either purely computational or by downconverting higher framerates. Webcams don't normally do that.
Please… I need one. Pricing something as the Logitech Streamcam.
