I have 3 of their albums (Planet Zero, Sound of Madness and Leave a Whisper) which are VERY good. I’ve seen them many times back in the early days, as I worked with their A&R guy Steve Robertson at Atlantic. I took Brent and Jasin on a promo tour like 20 years ago. Fun times!

I'm born 1963 and I managed to get 26 bands correct of those 54 (48%) and 17 of those correct band and song (31%): Major part from the 70s and 80s. I got 9/10 in the 70s, 8/10 in the 80s, 4/10 in the 90s, 2/10 in the 2000s, 2/10 in the 2010s and 1/4 in the 2020s.
Excellent examples till 1993. It seems that in 1994 your metal turned into rap, and about 2000 it became alternative rock. Where is Slayer, Venom, Danzig, Samael, Bathory, Amorphis, Paradise Lost, Opeth, the whole death, doom, black metal scene? Prog metal, gothic, symphonic?
22/54 I did terrible, but that's because Metal isn't really my genre. I kind of thought I'd do good on the 80's with the hair/glam bands, but it turns out my best was 2000's and 2010's. Am kind of surprised no AC/DC or KISS. Also, a little surprised Skillet wasn't on here for late 2000's and through the 2010's.

I was VERY fortunate... I answered 3 correctly...the one from 1970... and the one from 1980 AND the one from 1991....the only reason I knew those three .. is because.. I learned them for cover bands I was once in... most of those songs I never heard before... but I was familiar with about a third of the bands.. I was familiar with Dr. Feelgood.. also.. but.. couldn't name it before the answer came up..

Same with the 2000s. No death metal, no black n roll, not even any thrash revival. So many important evolutions in the metal sound completely ignored in favor of featuring radio rock that everyone already knows. Just kinda disappointing.
