I ran center rail before I got hurt with my hotshot & I made good money running under Bennett. Money is there in RVs if you have the proper truck setup. Setup is everything to make yourself more versatile for loads.

If you buy a transport trailer like you are talking about, at that point you leave the position of power only and are essentially an auto transporter. So by switching trailers you completely change your business plan.

Jacks are so dangerous on the road. Make a ramp that you can pull the other tire up on, and get flat tires off the ground.

Most of it is garbage and not worth the hassle. Hauling new RV's (or boats) out of a holding yard in Indiana to a dealership, that's usually pretty straightforward and pays "OK" for what it is. The shenanigans start when you try to book some sort of power only reload or backhaul to make a little extra fuel money getting back. Most of that crap isn't worth messing with MOST of the time. Usually too cheap and some of those p/u and delivery situations are bad news. Any time I find out it's a trailer either picking up from or delivering to somebody's house I almost automatically hang the phone up...ain't dealing with that after a few past experiences. If it's a restroom/shower/office trailer sitting in a parking lot at a business and going to an event site or something like that...maybe. Those types of trailers are usually maintained okay and they are company owned units. It's heap load of liability dragging mystery trailers on the ground a long way. New ones usually don't give you any trouble though.

I have shipshe and am leased on to one of the large rv transport. It works out well for me I get $3 a mile out of indiana and I could get backhauls but I've found it's not worth it because reloads are a time suck I'd rather get back to indiana and get another load of campers. Another benefit being leased on to an rv transport company I'd we don't have to pay cargo insurance just unladen insurance which is around $150 a month. I probably could make more money with my own authority but I'd have alot more headaches.

It's even worse with single pull. Especially if your outbound trips are 700-800 miles or less it ain't worth messing with the idiot brokers and BS. Load board cars especially are trash. Cheap, heavy and they want to pay COD freight collect. Big pain in the butt.

I have a question can you get your own authority/DOT number and then stay driving for a company for a couple years and let your DOT number season so it’s more useful when you go to use it or do you have to actually use it to season it? Thank you so much.

      Sure
But you'd be paying double insurance for the time being

I think that business growth is overrated. If you have a profitable business with good and reliable people it's time to stop and keep what you have, you get a reputation for quality and can choose the premium jobs. When times are bad everyone stays working.

You may be burning yourself out if you run hotshot for your 10 days off my dear
I have a trailer for sale though, if you want to try it

I don’t burn out. I work in the oil field of West Texas. I have a CDL, but my truck would not be able to pass as a CDL truck. I enjoy your videos and I appreciate your advice. I was hoping to maybe find someone to contract on with and do power only or get my own trailer and try and stay within the south somewhere

Elon Musk is an incredibly intelligent user, from other people’s ingenuity! His ilk is killing the independent transporters.
