Beautiful blanket and so inspiring...I imagine you could use each season (spring, summer, winter and fall) for the gray shades to attach the circles...it would be a good legend...😊
So refreshing to see two wonderful women connecting and being themselves. I’m an old follower of Cara and new follower of this channel. Her posts and progress were great inspiration and comfort during lockdown
Dang! This blanket is gorgeous! I thought about making one with all of the data that she used, but I'm working on my very first blanket and making it a temperature blanket seems complicated enough for a first project. I thought also about using different stitches for the rain or snow. One day lol
This is so awesome! I found Cara on IG and have had fun following her work on there, but watching the interview is so much fun. I'm really psyched to start my own now!
I like you point about not just doing it because a bunch of people are. I did my first one as a Christmas gift last year after 3yrs of thinking about it. It commemorated my 1yr anniversary with my bf so I had a "reason" to do it and LOVED it. Cant wait to do another one, after I finish the projects already queued lol.
That blanket is crazy amazing!! I just found your podcast as I'm sitting here knitting my fingerless gloves and I really enjoyed it, thank you for keeping me company and I'm definitely subscribing- greetings from NYC!! 😄🤗🗽💗🕊️🌷🧶
Love this! I’ve always wanted to do a temperature blanket but could never commit to a year. Amazing work JanuaryOne. Can’t wait until you hit 10k on Instagram!!
Oh man. When you said about the equinox and daylight hours, I made a spreadsheet as I’m preparing for 2023. Just learned crochet in mid July but I’ve like done so much math with it and this spreadsheet is intense!! Lol. But I’ve figured it all out. I would send it to y’all if you wanted it. It’s really easy to just plug in your times and the numbers will auto formulate. That took me so long. But I’ve been prepping like crazy. I’m just so anxious to get started. 🙃
Cara, your blanket/afghan is stunning. One question and maybe I missed it, when you crocheted your circles, is the outside the high of the day, the middle the low of the day and then the middle circle hours of daylight per day? Did you say you used 16 colors for the circles and then 4 for joining the seasons? What an accomplishment!!!
Hi! The inside circle is the low temp of the day, middle circle is the average temp, and the outer circle is the high temp. I did used four different background colors to symbolize the different seasons - but I changed them halfway through each season more to symbolize the amount of daylight. And I’m pretty sure I used 18 colors for the circles on this blanket. Thanks so much!!!
Have to admit that I haven't heard of temperature blankets till recently, but now that I have want to try one. Want to decide on a pattern first as I have a room full of yarn so hopefully I won't have to go buy anymore 😅, but any excuse to is okay with me.
What I'd really like to do is a 40 year blanket for my daughter, on my flatbed knitting machine, with 20 stitches per row, and each band of stripes representing a year of her life, then sew all 40 bands together. I could easily knit an entire year each day to get it done quickly, in time for her birthday. BUT I don't know where to get the historical daily weather data for Newark, for the last 40 years.
Hi there - I took a look at Weather Underground - wunderground.com - which is mentioned in the video. It looks like the information you're looking for should be available there! ~K🧶

I took a look at Ravelry to see if there was something close that I could direct you to, but i didn't see anything that close! Cara does have a series of video tutorials for each step -- they're saved in the "Temp Blankets" highlight on her Instgram, january_one. Hope that's helpful! ~K🧶
@@ChroniclesofYarnia Hello, it's the heirloom blanket from your second video. I watched the second part and there's a link to her Instagram. Thanks for replying to an old video!
I have a chart where I right down each one that I can refer to when joining them to the blanket. I try to do about two weeks at a time so there isn’t really a backlog of circles to worry about. Thanks!
Check out January_One's Instagram - she's been responding to questions about her temperature blankets there and had advice on how to find videos showing her approach on her Instagram just today!
This has become the inspiration for a temperature blanket based on my only child's birth year.
Yay! Love that!!

Very cool blanket
I love this. Personally, I would keep the "sawtooth" edge. I think it lends it a homey feel.
Yeah Cara!!!
Wow you guys live close to me .
❤
If you want hot visit Texas in July and August, 100 plus degrees for multiple days.
Me I learned how to crochet during pandemic also so much faster
Hello, what about Soraya's pattern? Was it released?
Hi there - It's been a long while since this video was recorded - can you be more specific? Thanks!

@@ChroniclesofYarnia Thanks!
I'm working on a hexagon blanket now... how do you join as you go for this shape?
Cara covers this in the second part of Jen's interview with her. She also posts frequently on Instagram as @january_one.
Is there somewhere that I can purchase this pattern???

So is there a link to the heirloom knit blanket yet? Or a way to find it?
Hi there - this video is from quite a while ago -- do you remember when during the episode the blanket you're curious about was mentioned? Thanks.

Hello, it's the heirloom blanket from your second video. I watched the second part and there's a link to her Instagram. Thanks for replying to an old video!
How did you keep all your hexies organized?
I pin mine together in order with a big safety pin. Not sure how Cara does it.
I have a chart where I right down each one that I can refer to when joining them to the blanket. I try to do about two weeks at a time so there isn’t really a backlog of circles to worry about. Thanks!
Hello, What brand yarn are you using>
Cara used Knitted Wit DK for her temperature blanket. We love Knitted Wit too!
how do we find the pattern for this blanket???

Is there a tutorial for this patterns
Check out @January_One on Instagram - she has videos that show how she makes it.
Are you two sisters? You look very much alike.
