Just wanted to make a few pointers. You are correct that if you stay left at the split it will take you to Bald Knob directly and is about a 3 mile hike. The only designated camping area is at Bald Knob. While others camp on the many glades Buford has to offer, it is discouraged due to the sensitive habitat of these glades. As to the trail, ATV's and horses are not allowed. While people still use ATV's and horses, they are in violation of the area regulations. For more information, please feel free to contact the Piedmont MDC office.
Have you hiked this trail before? Did you make the same mistake I did???
