    The O.T. goes right through Taum Sauk which I cherished. Quite a few lighting strikes to many Trees on Taum Sauk as I recall circa 2008.

      Thank you for subscribing! Taum Sauk is a great park, plus there are two other state parks close to it that also warrant checking out, Elephant Rocks and Johnsons Shut Ins.

      I backpacked The Ozark Trail (half) which goes right through Taum Sauk Mt. Great Trail, people and harder on my ankles than no where else.

      Great recommendation! When I eventually get back to Missouri to re-film this episode I plan on including both of those locations. Cheers!

    Very professionally done. Great job. I've been there as well. If you ever make it back check out Johnson Shut-ins and Elephant Rocks which are close.

      Thanks! This one may get a "Director's Cut" at some point including both of those locations. My wife's relation live down in Bloomfield so I get over there a few times a year.

    Been there, hiked that. 😁 In fact, it is only about an hour and a half (or so) from where I live. It is a beautiful area. It is best to visit in the spring or fall as the summers in Missouri are quite steamy and the bugs plentiful.

      My wife's grandmother and aunt live down in Bloomfield so I've managed to get up to Ironton a few times to explore. You're right in that it's a beautiful area. There is a bunch more I have yet to check out up there.

      We live just outside of Bloomfield. I have lived here most of my life. My husband is from Southern CA and AZ - he is not impressed with the weather here. lol

      update, went there. the falls was nearly bone dry, and the horse flys were swarming. but some nice views and a humble peak.

    • @RooftopsofAmerica
      @RooftopsofAmerica  2 роки тому

      It's an interesting area, but the peak itself is perhaps the least interesting thing.

    2:33! Is that it? So much for Misouri's Highest/Tallest waterfalls!

      Mina Sauk Falls doesn't film well or more accurately, I didn't do it any justice in my attempt. It actually has several drops to it but since it is a very reliant on the amount of precipitation available it means that if you go during a dry stretch you may be disappointed. Best visited in a rainy spring for full effect.

    Technically, it's a part of the Ozarks, but many of the peaks of the Ozarks in Arkansas are higher!

    Attention! New York City's World Trade Center stands even taller than poor ole Tawm Sauk Mountain!!!!

    • @CJColvin
      @CJColvin 5 років тому +3

      Yeah by only 4 inches.

    • @RooftopsofAmerica
      @RooftopsofAmerica  5 років тому +6

      By that measure the WTC stands twice as tall as the states of Rhode Island and Mississippi, and over three times taller than all of Louisiana! That said the St. Francois Mountains and the Ozark Highlands are some of the best hiking in Missouri!
