Obviously growing up in a family that owns any house is a privilege, never mind a beautiful old house, and I am very grateful. But I don’t miss it. They’re dark, and I have SAD - getting minimal sunlight in the winter was brutal. Moving into a “boring” modern apartment with big windows, central air and central heat, way fewer bugs, and soundproofed windows was pretty exciting for me haha. They also need constant renovations, because they’re old and falling apart, but it’s very difficult to do, because they share walls with their neighbors and even tiny details are protected by historical organizations. My parents replaced the broken sidewalk with concrete they chose because it would give good traction when icy, and they got fined by a historical organization because it was the wrong color gray.

GIRL I NEED YOU TO MAKE A BUILD TUTORIAL AND TIPS VIDEO AGAIN with all your tips and tricks for build mode omg 😭 i couldn’t for the life of me figure put how you did those basements that show from the outside!!
You did a great job with the NYC apartment house, particularly crunching up the living spaces to multifunctional rooms and making personal to that Sim family. It's the neighborhoods you had to choose from really kills the vibe. But I do get it, this is the Sims. Back to real City apartments. The front door opens into hallways to access all apartments on both sides of it on all the levels. Elevators there are pretty common now, tho not taken for granted in lower rent areas. Stairways are usually near them in the hall. Multiple front doors indicates multiplying the number of units for each one they serve We really aren't taking two or three stories in downtown NYC! A SMALL building with four front doors would have at least have four units on each level above ground, usually many more. The same for the upper floors. And it would have be at least four stories tall. That's at least 12. There might be a penthouse at the top and a couple of small basement apartments below street level. That's up to 15 apartments total. Miniscule in NYC! The outside of the building is traditionally etched with fire escapes.Stairs that access all the apartments above the first floor on each side of the building. There are NO lawns. You step out onto the sidewalk from your steps or stoop. And the buildings are so close together on the sides (unless it happens to border another road) that clotheslines could easily be stretched between them! Neighbors didn't need phones to talk to each other. Just open the window and holler!. There might be a narrow alleyway behind the building where there is another building just across it. But absolutely no backyard. You might have a narrow porch. But that's rare and that's it for space. They don't waste one inch of real estatel Let's not even mention the CONSTANT traffic going by 24/7... You made an admirable effort tho. A nod to NYC, where I was born many many many years ago.
i’ve genuinely just gotten done building a set of brownstone apartments on this same lot! this has given me some serious inspiration for what details i can add to mine
aw i live in a brownstone apartment in brooklyn and this is so cute to see (a lot of brownstones are divided up into apartments inside - each floor a unit, so not a townhouse).
I have been to Disneyland twice and you are so incredibly right with the Minnie Mouse comparison. The my first pets stuff, specifically in the pink and purple swatch, the resemblance is uncanny 😂
I LOVE these houses. The ceilings are tall, especially on lower floors, with tall windows and doors to match. The tall walls make them feel roomier, since they're narrow, and the tall windows allow light to penetrate further into the house. In some neighborhoods, they went from upscale homes to cheap apartments, to upscale homes again. Many have been renovated, some to match their old aesthetics and some in modern ways on the inside, while still looking classic on the outside. edit: cheap apartments by NY standards.
The cats and dogs/my first pets stuff kids furniture is truly a Kids Furniture Collection™️ and idk how else to describe it. Like ive seen a bunch kids furniture that is that like chunky colorful solidly built furniture. Like its built to be bright and good for kids color wise but also easy to grip and hard to hurt. Basically its furniture thats been childproofed for you xD
I love this lot and build combo so much! I created an industrial restaurant called “The Industry” on this lot and I love to have my sims propose along the water there
Could you download an empty version too? I think it would be fun to furnish them and its a lot easier to do that if if theres an empty version aswell😊 That way there would also be a lot less packs

Does anyone remember her series of decorating a custom apartment she built and one was like an orange and blue studio? I liked that series, despite it only being two parts
my family rented a brownstone when we visited philliy! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Literally changed my life and has shown up in my dreams multiple times since. my favorite spotify playlist is named after it
OMG I found this build on the Gallery the other day and I was so confused as to where it came from because I couldn't find a video for it. Now I know! I haven't played in it yet but I'm excited to!
I use my formal diningroom quite a bit. We use it for birthdays, for literally every holiday and I don't think I can live without it. My sister doesn't have one in her house and when I go there for a holiday it just makes things look super chaotic. Also no, my Sims won't comply with my dining room wishes.
I love it. I really wish the team had gone all in with the NYC theme throughout the whole world because the Fashion and Uptown districts are so oddly out of place and contrasting to the (imo) better parts of SM and once you put those brownstone shells in, there's really nowhere else it could be. Anything that capture the NYC aesthetic always catches my eye and this build really captures that feeling
Honestly, would it have been so difficult for them to make extra swatches for the mailbox? Like, up until the limit they impose on apartments at least. That's a total of 7 swatches 😅 I'm off to see if someone CCed that because it's kinda sad that something that small is lacking.
16:35 I am relieved to hear that you also eat on your couch most of the time! 😅 My bf and I also do that. We almost only use our dining table when we have dinner guests.
Lol I LOVE the fake windows. I play with vampires a lot, and I always make them have kids, so I always keep the kitchen and bathrooms. I often crazy furnish basements and love to give outside access to a "party level." If I give rooms/floors to specific sims, I always build out rooms for the fake windows with lots of plants and lights. Plus the Faded Sunset paint swatch! My favorite thing to do is attach it to an actual indoor garden space 😂 It's the sims! All the lights down there are greenhouse lights! Lol.
I like to think that the vampires have been living in the basement since the building was built. So they have the original flooring
That would also explain why their rent is cheaper 😂 the contracts are just so old, they can’t be raised 😂

They don't waste one inch of real estatel
Let's not even mention the CONSTANT traffic going by 24/7... You made an admirable effort tho. A nod to NYC, where I was born many many many years ago.
I LOOOOOOVE that you added a vampire apartment!
i’ve genuinely just gotten done building a set of brownstone apartments on this same lot! this has given me some serious inspiration for what details i can add to mine
aw i live in a brownstone apartment in brooklyn and this is so cute to see (a lot of brownstones are divided up into apartments inside - each floor a unit, so not a townhouse).
If I had that pack, I would play in that apartment because I just love that style of home!
I love this lot and build combo so much! I created an industrial restaurant called “The Industry” on this lot and I love to have my sims propose along the water there
loooooove ittt!! maybe you could bring your version of the painted ladies as your next big build
Could you download an empty version too? I think it would be fun to furnish them and its a lot easier to do that if if theres an empty version aswell😊
That way there would also be a lot less packs
New Yorker born and raised! I adore brownstones! I grew up in Brooklyn in Park Slope and the architecture was absolutely gorgeous! My dream home is one of these babies!! 🥰
Hey simsie!! You should do tiny apartments but each apartment is a different pack!! I think that would be really fun
Oh my god. OVER 40 minutes?! I’ve been blessed
Lol yeah I believe it took her 4 streams, so 12 hrs
@@rainshadows17holy macaroni that’s a lot
The first thing I built with the new pack was a set of brownstones in San myshuno! I love seeing your take on the same idea
I love this build! The vampire apartment is a really fun touch and I can tell you had a lot of fun with it. I hope your twitch chat isn't too mean to you, it's your build and you should do what you like
I loved these apartments! I'm not really a builder, I like using CAS more, and these inspired me so much I made families for all of them!
Does anyone remember her series of decorating a custom apartment she built and one was like an orange and blue studio? I liked that series, despite it only being two parts
Yessss I miss them
@@treefish008 I’m glad someone else remembers them. I kinda thought I might’ve dreamt it 💀
I’d love for her to go back now and seperate them properly.
totally!- what even happened to that??
@@maddieo333 she just sorta stopped them. Kinda sad. I really liked those
I love this!! I'm from NY so this was super nice to see. I'm not from the big city tho, I'm in the capital
my family rented a brownstone when we visited philliy! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Literally changed my life and has shown up in my dreams multiple times since. my favorite spotify playlist is named after it
I know Kayla already does SO MUCH posting every day, but i would abaolutely listem to a lilsimsie podcast
39:52 looks like a death backyard. I can only imagine the amount of chaos that would go down here and I'm living for it 😂
I love these longer videos!
OMG I found this build on the Gallery the other day and I was so confused as to where it came from because I couldn't find a video for it. Now I know! I haven't played in it yet but I'm excited to!
I can't wait to watch the VOD of this. Absolutely beautiful, good job Simsie :D
That blue bedroom is SO cute! This video is v good inspiration for a townhouse build 😊
I downloaded this and decorated it for my sims it's a super cool build ❤❤❤
This has to be one of my favorite builds you've ever doner❤
i really like this build!! i would also enjoy a build based on the yellow floral office chair
Excited about the St. Jude event!!! As someone who has dealt with cancer, I love their work and anyone who helps them. Thank you!
lilsimsie, can you consider, in the future, dividing these big builds up into multiple videos?
Early party! Let's go!
Edit: Kayla, I'm obsessed with your sweater!!
this is such a good build simsiee !!! love it
I ❤ watching your builds and gameplay! I’m newish to your channel and I’m loving it! You are SO fun @lilsimsie, thanks for your great content!
i have wanted to build these forever but i don’t have for rent 😢 at least i can live vicariously through simsie, also the sweater is adorable!!
i am OBSESSED with your sweater !!
I think it would be cool if she did apartments for evey occult sim and each apartment was themed after them!
16:35 I am relieved to hear that you also eat on your couch most of the time! 😅 My bf and I also do that. We almost only use our dining table when we have dinner guests.
Simsie has BLESSED us with this long speed build!!!!! I
Lol I LOVE the fake windows. Lol.
Wow I love this build so much!! I can't wait to download it and put it in my game! ❤
