Hopefully the sims team makes it possible for multi purpose lots to happen because they already have the tools in the pack they are about to release it would be nice for us to be able to zone rooms in the lot for the public and for personal use just like you can zone the different apartments for each tenant in the same lot
I would love that. I already fake live on retail lots and I would love to be able to do it for real.
Honestly if the sims don’t give us this, this seems like it could be moddable now that we will soon have a base for it
LittleMsSam has an Auto Employees mod that works as a lot trait and is activated by clicking on doors/arches/gates. I'm curious to see how it plays with the new lot type coming with this pack.
Modders might be able to do this with these tools. Let's hope!

No, its an editing mistake. Kayla talked about it on her twitch stream. She said she repeat herself a lot, and Dan cant always manage to edit it out. Kayla also upload a lot, so it is hard to not make some small mistakes:) @@Stayville_Clown

Although there is no multipurpose lots (at least that I’m aware of), LittleMsSam has a mod that kinda has the same functionality. The mod Auto Employees adds a custom trait you can apply to lots to auto spawn employees for specific lot-type tied objects. So with this mod you can classify your build as a library, add this trait to the lot and it will spawn an employee to run the espresso bar and the other retail

I want cars just like in the sims 2 more like decorations than fonctional but you can woohoo in it, repair one, teach your child to drive and have a garage. It's totally fine if the cars just desapear with your sims when you use it to go somewhere, it's still more realistic than your sims walking to an other city!

as far as garage doors go, i think a garage band stuff pack (since apparently theyre back now) would be awesome for that! it could come with a drum kit and maybe some band mechanics that work a bit like the karaoke machines

12:08 regarding cars, I’ve been thinking it would be a good compromise to get motorcycles instead because I agree that the infrastructure in the sims worlds doesn’t make sense for cars. This way, we could get functional garage stuff (the things I would do to make an actual garage with a garage door and tool boxes and Jerry cans and oil stains and work benches and peg boards of tools and a table saw and those wonderful garage things would make your grandma faint lol) that make sense with the existing game. And I think being able to fix up a used motorcycle would be so cool!! And maybe more gameplay would be having to get the motorcycle license before being able to teach a teen or someone else. I have so many ideas about this tbh. But yeah, MOTORCYCLES.
I mean we already have the animation of the bicycles so...PLEASE SIMS TEAM

i feel like a lot of ppl will crack it if we get motorcycles and not cars but i do love that idea, agree 100% that ts4 is just not equipped to handle cars unfortunately but weve gone so long without them soo
This is what i was thinking! Release a transport game pack and have a complete garage (with actual gameplay) and motorbikes or even mopeds! We have the animations for the bike already it's not that far of a stretch and these smaller transport options would work the same as bikes - and be a good compromise. Have fixer-upper options and teaching teens to drive them (and if they don't then they have to do a course as a young adult!)
Once For Rent comes out, we're one step closer to multi-purpose lots!

I love the idea that the cat is just around all of the buildings. Like, a store cat. A friend has a cat that wanders between the neighbors' homes sometimes, but they all know who she actually belongs to and I think make sure she gets home. Feels kind of accurate for this type of side-by-side build.
Would love to see you do this with the Recriation Center lot type, meaning having it looking like it looks like different shops and it would function!
Good idea, with this lot type you could create a gym attached to an art center/kids space.
there is a mod that you can live in a business, so I wonder if one day sm will be able to make multiple-purpose-like lots 🤔

Here’s an idea of how to make cars happen in ts4:
Make cars rabbit holes (sim will get in car and drive for a short length before both disappear; can program it to work on specific lots)
You can’t actually travel with your sim, but your sim can go to work, go to skill classes, or go to new special activities (the movies, a friend’s house, etc)
Then, allow sims to park their car in their home lot. Have it be tied to an item, like a parking space; you can even give it swatches so it can have a paint outline, a chalk drawing, be invisible, etc.
Finally, add two new skills: driving and car repair.
Sims can practice driving by going to a driving class, reading a book, getting driving practice from an adult (rabbit hole). You can even have a sim practice parking/parallel parking!
For car repair, your sim can take a skill class, read a book, watch a tutorial, or fix up a junker. This can also come with a new mechanic career!

22:45 so, I’m uniquely qualified to talk about this. I was a foster kid& my foster parents owned a bookstore (with a cafe across the st😂) and we had a bookstore cat! His name was mango. We didn’t live above the store (it wasn’t liveable…) but mango did live IN the store. So, yes, it is normal to have the litter box in the bathroom everyone uses. We only had 1 bathroom& it was never messed with.
I spent my afternoons laying in between shelves reading or in the front window reading… honestly, I’d give anything for someone to shake me awake and I find that I had fallen asleep reading between the shelves and it was time to go home. Well, that got a little dark.
I think my final Sims 4 dream would be multi use lots like this where you could have it be multiple stores or multi store plus multi apartment above. I feel like that's one of the last plausible major updates. Being able to have multiple lot types on the same lot would be amazing and I feel like we finally have all of the building blocks for it
Ok hear me out.... they could be residential and you can have a type of shop or store if you use the lower levels and the hch kit you can sell pizza waffles etc. With the outdoor adventure pack I think they have that sellers table where you can sell other stuff....idk I think that could work.
Yeah, and if you have seasons, you could use the flower arrangement table and sell the arrangements on the selling table from either Jungle Adventure or City Living!
I came to say the same thing. I wonder if those selling tables could work on residential rentals. Eco Lifestyle also has those tables, City Living has the painting-selling thing, that could work, too.

BUILD-CHALLENGE IDEA: you can only use ONE item from each pack, kit so on. You can repeat that item (example: placing four of the same chair) but you can’t use two different chairs from the same pack or one bed and one counter from same pack

The cafe house is SO BEAUTIFUL. I don't recognize those blue details, you might as well have created them specifically for this build haha. But seriously it looks lovely and so realistic, it really feels like a British ground floor shop below apartments
The resedent cat reminds me of that one time i was at a second-hand book store with my dog, i was very suprised they even allowed him in, but within seconds all the workers were and giving him pets. I love the idea of the book store being more of a libarery where you can buy second-hand books, but you can also just hang out there and read a book with the store owner's cat in your lap, it sound like a place i would hang out at a lot when i was younger

Thinking about cars in the sims… I think a possible way for them to add them would be almost a car racing expansion pack - so racecars and even normal/vintage cars for your sims to race around a track. There could also be something like you mentioned fixing broken cars and garage doors obviously, but I agree they probably wouldn’t add them for roads

i really like an idea of making this building as townhouse after the new update with stores as a public places, because sims can use them as a skill building areas (flower table for example) and library for reading books. i definately will try this after update!!

I agree with the car thing! Cars made sense in Sims 2 because you had to call a taxi to get a community lot, so driving your own car did save time, but with Sims 4, you've been able to walk to community lots from the base game. I guess it would look cool, but let's be real, the sims are just going to pull out of their driveway, and then have a loading screen into the lot. I can't see them taking the time to program cars that drive along the world's roads at this point in the game's lifespan.
i know this build was a while ago, and this isnt a necessary comment, but i thought up little lives for the sims who live here!
- in the bookstore, i was thinking that it's a young guy living alone, he got the store from his dad, he still has the family cat, and although his gf stays over, she doesnt live with him
- for the florist, i think its a super cute, pastel girl who has a punk rock gf who shes teaching to arrange flowers. again, they dont live together, theyre waiting for a bigger place
-and lastly, for the cafe, i thought it was a husband and wife, possibly expecting, and the husband does all the coffee and customers, while the wife handles business. the desk in the bedroom is for him, to do normal people computer things on, whereas the downstairs office space is for her to do her business things with

I feel like they could make cars that act as objects and you can click on it to “travel” and it just transports you there. Or you can “go for a drive” and it is a task you don’t go w the sim for. Definitely not the same as TS3 but it’s something.
Flower Store apartment is the best. Just that the door in the skinny hallway is a literal killer. It opens up towards the stairs. Imagine walking up that stairway, someone opens the door, you get spooked and take a step back, bam, now you ded xD
The cars could be like the boats in c&d! You could click on it and it says like „repair,clean & drive to“ and if you click it the sims get in and it drives for like 2 seconds forward and takes you into a loading screen!
Personally I’m not interested in car gameplay at all. In a game like the sims 4 where there’s a loading screen between every lot, having my sims get in a car to go places would be pretty useless. I would take more decorative debug cars though!
i think cars could work if the sims got into the car, then the car would start, then loading screen, then travel menu..
and like for rabbithole stuff, instead of walking off the lot and disappearing, the sims could get into the car and disappear from there ?

Hear me out, garage band kit. You can create bands, play drums, sing, all as a group. Comes with garage decor, boxes and fixer up car. The car needs handiness skill a d can be used to teach to drive (a rabbit hole). They could get moodlets and memories from it.
Later an antique car kit where you fix up cars and sell them. Something like that

We kinda have to play-pretend for most things in the sims. At this point it is a simulation of simulating life 😫
They could make a Stuff Pack based on cars. From what I’ve seen with every Sruff Pack, they add a few new animations but mostly reused ones, but I have a few ideas. Sims will maybe not actually drive around, but it would just be a way for you to travel to other lots, like with a phone. Would be cool if you could place cars in your inventory and place them wherever you want and have names for them, like with bikes. Also that you can turn on the lights on the car, and start the car. If two sims sit in the car they could talk to each other and it also could be a romantic spot similar to when they sit on a bench but in the backseat. The talk interactions may require first person camera mode to actually be able to click on the sims. Other interactions could be accessed by clicking on the car. Gameplay cars wouldn’t have to replace the debug cars. Would also be nice if teens could take driver’s license and also when sims go to work and other things, the car vanishes into a rabbit hole with the sim. When teens learn to drive they pay for driving lessons. Maybe after 3-5 lessons they’ll get to the driving test, and make it a rabbit hole experience instead of a skill. Pop up messages could be fun, where things could either go bad, great or neutral at random. An embarrassed moodlet for failure and confident for success. For build/buy it could be mostly garage themed but also have a few community items like a decorative gas station, signs and parking spots. Maybe an opportunity for a drive in cinema. Stuff Packs usually have a few gameplay features but not enough to make them a Game Pack, which is totally ok imo. If cars came as a kit it would be sad as kits are mostly a small set of decorative items and it would probably require cars being a half assed base game feature. I think cars as a Stuff Pack would offer just as much gameplay as any other Stuff Pack, so why not? 🤷🏼♀️ I hope they’ll take it into consideration. I think dispite negative talk, which is inevitable at this point, people would probably buy the pack anyway.

she was an adult in cas but not an adult in the game. so I decided to make her a young adult in cas and blow out her candles again but it didn't work. she still looks like a young adult

I had a college project recently where I had to make up a vet clinic and I used Sims 4 for the physical structure part, I encountered that wallpaper glitch and I've either never had it happen before or never noticed it so when I noticed a bunch of items missing it was a while after picking the wallpaper and I didn't know what caused it so I had to ctrl z until I got to a point where the items were still there 😭
Also had the stair railing glitch which was annoying and the project was due so I couldn't wait for it to be fixed 🙄 hopefully it will be soon though
If they can code multiple residential "lots" for the new pack, they sure can do it for commercial and community lots right? Or is that going to cost an extra 40 dollars?

KAYLA I have a challenge for you. 280 square foot tiny home just a rectangle (no bump outs, only one level) theres a high bed with storage underneath. There needs to be a door (obviously) 5 windows, wood burning stove, tiny kitchen, tiny bathroom! Ppssst it's actually what I live in.
My idea of how cars can work in the sims 4: the car game pack or expansion pack would have to be centered around car racing. That would give a lot of gameplay with racing/repairing/upgrading cars and getting licenses, and a specific world where you can freely drive around each neighborhood; new lot types could be a car driving school (could be a rabbit hole) and a car racing track. The base game features would be that you could place down specific roads to drive around your own lot/a community lot, and these roads could be the same ones used to build car racing tracks in the pack, and be able to repair/upgrade the car there, be able to put the car in your inventory if you're going to a community lot, like a car driving school. If that was implemented, nothing would need to change in the structure of the worlds we already have, and everything would be lot-specific in base game but still add some extra features.
my afvourite is the flower shop hehe it also ahs teh nicest apartment cuz i loved the multi-use room with kictehn,dinner and living room! lovee teh idea of the library cat and the outdoor seating for teh acfe looks so cute!
I agree with you on cars. I don't think the game is equipped for it. I'd like cars and car related build/buy for aesthetic purposes but I personally would be okay without functional cars in Sims 4.

For sims 5 I’d like an open world where your sims would drive around like on sims 3 and an airport where you go to fly to other worlds, I don’t even need an airplane, just an airport and then a loading screen
U could have made it fully functional like I did and made a pizza restaurant, Waffle House and painting classes like it did. I just used the new pack.
I still want tweens where they go to Jr. High or something or have a 'first day of high school' moodlet or something like that I don't want to give my child sim a makeover after like a week of being a kid

I agree: it's too late for the Sims 4, for cars. That being said, I wouldn't mind cars in future games, or even Interactable Cars that don't actually move for the Sims 4. Everyone's Obsession with cars absolutely BOGGLES my mind. They're not that great/important in a game where you can learn to teleport, whatever. PLANES would be more feasible in the Sims 4, since we aren't IN the skies. We'd still not be able to drive/pilot them ourselves, but it's an idea that could have a pack built around it. Like Airports to take your sims to new exotic locations, etc, would be an interesting mechanic.

Ahh, yes, the sims is once again demonstrating it's US based biases. My husband works in city planning, so he deals with US zoning codes A LOT, and in most places it's actually illegal to have these types of multi-use lots. Never mind that it's literally how humans have lived for millennia and has only changed in the last 50-70 years thanks to car dependent residential construction practices. I'll get off my soap box now lol
You could zone this as Residential Rental to make the flats liveable, hire a Barista (100 simoleons) or use Auto Employees/Live in Café Lot Trait mods for functional Café and Ravasheen's retail mod to set things for sale in the shops, assigning ownership to the appropriate households. Assuming those mods are updated for the new lot type.
We should've gotten multifunctional Retail lots when HSY came out. They introduced the Thrift and Boba Tea lot. They should've allowed us to have any 2 things together like a book store and Cafe.... or something like that. Esp considering you can't even separate the thrift/Boba lot. You have to have both together
Every time i think of a flower shop, I think of the one across the street from my college dorm, where the owners also rescue animals, so the shop is where their cats and many parrots live and get loved on by the college students. So to me a flower shop without cats (and birds, but we need to wait for My Second Pet Stuff for parrots, I guess) doesn't even compute. I miss Rosie, Posey, Peaches, and Cream. (And Buddy the cockatoo)
I agree with your take on cars. I, personally don’t want or need functional cars in the game. I would be perfectly content with decorative cars, and if I can click on it and it gives me the option to travel like the phone does, even better. But I just want modern looking cars, minivans, SUVs and Pick up trucks that I don’t need to go into debug to get. I would happily pay for a kit or stuff pack with cars and Garage related items. But that’s probably just wishful thinking on my part.
9:51 that is exactly what happened in the world in the1950's (kinda more in the U.S.) unfortunately... cuties weren't built for cars but people adjusted it for noisy polluting ineffective cars😭

Maybe with the for rent pack, and the uses of yard sale tables or the chef hassle pack you could kind of replicate this.
Home chef for a cafe type deal
Yard sale one for a charity style shop, or a craft shop ( could even work as a bakery) - few types of things you could do. Even a toy shop. Or a goracey shop if you self veggies you grow ect.
And the. Uses the communal space lot in for rent as a type of library/ replica book shop.
I know it would function exactly as you'd want but would give the effect.
The growing together pack would’ve been a great one for the new rental apartments thingie from the new pack
Cars could work like this in TS4: you buy it, place it on the lot, and you could do things like woohoo, listen to music, take a nap and upgrade/fix it with the handiness skill. There would be a "travel" option, and if you use it, your sim would get into the car, start it, do an animation like the car is moving foward a little, then you go into a loading screen and choose the lot. If the lot you're traveling to has a parking space, you would arrive on it inside this parking space, and get out the car. If it doesn't have a parking space, the car would go into your inventory. Imo this would be the easiest way to implement cars, and it would make most people happy. Obviously there would be people saying stuff like "oh, the cars don't even drive on the roads", but this would be better than nothing.
I think if we ever got cars, it would be similar to the Sims 2 but we wouldn’t be able to drive everywhere. It would probably work more like traveling on the phones, where the car would leave the driveway then you’d go to a loading screen. Even when you’re teaching your sims to drive they would disappear into a rabbit hole and would come back when the interaction completed like the movie theater and university.
Plus I think they would have to limit what lots can have cars on them, like the Cottage Living waterfall lot wouldn’t function with cars, but all the lots in New Crest would work
Cars are doable, they’d just be very limited
They could have a car to work on, add a Race car driver and mechanic career, car meets (classic, Itasha etc). They could treat them a bit like horses, not in the driving around but the racing and what not could be a rabbit hole. There's a lot they could focus on to do with cars that aren't the A to B car usage most people engage with.
I know a LOT of car people. So although I personally don't care much for cars I would really appreciate a car pack especially because I feel that masculine hobbies and fashion are lacking so that could be a great way to help out with that :P
TEAM BOOKSTORE! Also there is no chance the sims 4 is getting cars. Every single world would need to be remade from scratch and EA won't even flesh out the townies' outfits, interests, and relationships lol

Okay, so I’m imagining an old lesbian couple owns the bookstore. A young single woman owns the flower shop. And another old Italian(idk why Italian it’s just what feels right) couple owns the cafe.
How cars could work in the sims 4 could be like Sims Busting Out or even the console version of the Sims 3. Your son doesn't actually drive around. The car is placed on the road or whatever, the sims get in and boom loading screen. Then you're at the next lot.
i dunno a garage pack/kit would go crazy being mechanic themed: new skill action, new career, garage decor, and even new cas items. i mean we have cops and doctors but we don’t actually have open hospitals or criminals, the hopes for driving really should be saved for sims 5
With the mod "Live in Business," by LittleMsSam, you CAN have a retail shop on a residential lot.
Also, if you zone it as "retail" and have a Sim buy it, set the items "for sale" and then sell the business, the retail shop continues to re-stock.
i feel like the cars could be like where the sims go before the loading screen. and the teaching your teen to drive would look a lot like when your sim goes to work and they just dissipate. it's just like an out of view skill builder, i guess ? idk if I'm making sense 😭😭😭 but like the car purchasing, story progression, and the functional garage door would be the main things.
I wonder if you make each entire shop (bottom floor and apartment floor) as one apartment in the new pack, then try to combine that with Little Ms Sam's live-in business mod when playing as someone in one of the households, if that would work like splitting up 3 businesses separately?

the sims 4 could be so good but it's such a broken, buggy, inconsistent patchwork of a game that's somehow still incomplete after nearly ten years that I just can't get into it. I really hope the next mainline title is a lot more streamlined and feature-complete from the beginning. They could do so much if they just made an engine that actually works

Kidding, but I think I’m picking favorites based on the vibes of the sims that live there
Bookstore sim feels like an older, reserved person who’s wise
Flower shop sim feels lonely and relies on their job for interaction, and even their neighbor’s cat, and I think that the ensuite bathroom solidifies that feeling for me
Caffe feels like it’s owned by a gay couple, they feel like differing personalities that are really sweet together, so I think they’re my favorite
They could just make cars an unmovable item, but so it can open the travel menu when you click it. And your sim could have the option to work on the car and build handyness with it. (I also just want garages honestly..)
My favorite store is the flower store and the book store is good too! I forgot how the cafe looked though💀
