    Hey Inessa! Im actually applying to the same program as you for lake wa tech :) Im pretty stressed since its so hard to get into. What do you think helped you get into the program as I know it accepts only about 30 students. Also I know that they pay huge attention to the major science classes they list, do they really care that much about your grades in stats or sociology for example that are not the major science courses?

      Hey girl! That’s exciting to hear! Personally, I think the 5 extra assisting points helped boost my score into a safe range, since everyone’s points are sooo close together, even 1 point out of 100 can make the difference of an acceptable or not! For the classes, they don’t care about the other GPA’s. The only classes that count into your points and make any difference for lake wa are A&P 1&2, Chem 121&132, English 101 & Microbio. None of the other classes will impact your application points!

    Thanks for awesome info! I am ESL student and got C on the English composition but everything else I got A so far. Do you think I need to retake for English again to upgrade my GPA? I am just worried!

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  4 роки тому +2

      I’d recommend researching all the schools and seeing if they count English into their GPA points! One of the 4 schools I applied to counted it into the total points, but the other 3 required it as a prerequisite, but the grade did not influence your GPA points. But look into each school individually and see their requirements!

      I’m so sorry! Don’t give up and keep on trying! My friend applied 3 times and got in on her 3rd try. If you can, try to get assisting experience if your state allows training on site without schooling. I know a lot of schools add additional points for that which can really help boost your application! Also, apply to as many schools in your area as you can, even if they are not your top schools!

    Thank you for interesting video! I live in WA too and I’m in second semester of pre-reqs Dental Hygiene. I am looking for shadowing dental hygienist now, but i’m not sure if I need to do something like paperwork or letter from dental hygienist to proof that I do shadowing or not.

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  3 роки тому +1

      It depends on the school but for Lake Washington Tech, you wrote the email into the application of the hygienist you shadowed and the application site sent and form that the hygienist had to fill out and email back to them. And you don’t really get to see what she wrote 😅

    Hi guys,
    Thank you so much for your helpful tips. How about the proctored essay on the second phase in LWT . Would you please explain more about the essay in Lake Washington?

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  2 роки тому

      For the essay, they ask you two questions and you write a response. They say that the goal of the essay is to actually grade you on the grammar, punctuation and how you wrote rather than what you’re writing about. I don’t know if that’s actually true or if they actually take in what you as a consideration!
      But if I remember, one of our prompts was something along the lines of “what was a difficult obstacle you had in your life and what did you learn from it” and the other one was similar

    Hey is it possible to apply for dental hygienist right after high school or l do need to go to college, to be admitted

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! It’s possible, but very very rare. The only place I’ve seen that be a thing was at a Private college that offered the program (PIMA) and you do both pre reqs and dental hygiene courses together in those 2 years. The program was a lot more expensive though. It ended up being $65k for the 2 years

    Hey I am about to start my prerequisites for the program but I wanted to know is the required classes the only classes that are looked at?? Do they pay attention to any of your other classes from your previous semesters? I’m going to try and start a semester only for the prerequisites for the program until I’m finished. Will that wrk?

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  4 роки тому

      Hey girl! Every program does things differently but I want to say that I’m 99% sure that they will only look at the classes that they require! For 2 of the 4 schools I applied to, they didn’t even look at the GPA for classes they required but only looked at the the science class’ GPA (AP 1&2, microbio, chem 1&2). And yes, it should work! Go at your own pace and do what you’re comfortable with doing ☺️ just make sure to note after how long after taking the class do the credits expire for each program you’re applying to. Some programs do 3 years, some do 5 years and some do 7 years! Good luck! 🦷💕

      I’m not sure what programs in India require as prerequisites, but in the US, biology is one of the core prerequisites that’s required. But look into the programs you want to apply to and see exactly which classes you’ll need to even be able to apply into the program :)

    hey I’m planning on applying to lake washington tech! I was wondering if the teas test or any other test is required in order to apply. I was also wondering if you think I should take my pre-reqs at a community college then transfer or if I should sign up to take them at lake washington.

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  4 роки тому

      Hey girl! Lake Wa dental hygiene program does require you to take the teas exam! I’d recommend taking this exam at lake Washington so you can avoid the transfer fee which I believe is an additional $50. Here’s some addition info I think may be helpful for your application! www.lwtech.edu/academics/dental-hygiene/docs/lwtech-dental-hygiene-online-information-session.pdf www.lwtech.edu/academics/dental-hygiene/docs/lwtech-dental-hygiene-supporting-information-packet.pdf For the prerequisites, it really doesn’t matter which school you take them at as long of those credits are transferable for that specific course ID. If you live close to lake wa tech, then for sure it’ll make things easier, but if you have another school that’s closer, it’s okay to go to that school and transfer credits when transferring over!

    Question, How can I apply to multiple schools if all the requirements are different? I mean some programs can have similar prerequisites but thats about it.

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  2 роки тому

      So usually the core prerequisites will be the same, but they may have a different number associated with it! But the core classes are usually general cell biology, anatomy and physiology 1&2, microbiology, intro to Chem, and organic chem. They’ll usually also require statistics and English 101. And then all of the little side classes they may require like nutrition, communications, etc. If you’re spreading it out into 2 years of prerequisites. you’ll need to take 1 science class per quarter and then about 2 “side classes” along with the core class. Sorry if that’s confusing 😅

    How many times did you have to apply before getting accepted. Its not alot of dental hygiene programs in my area and would be easier and cheaper for me to stay in my state.

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  3 роки тому +2

      I applied to 3 programs and was 3rd on the waitlist to one of them but didn’t get in, but got into another one! But I only applied through 1 application cycle 🥰 but applying more (like over and over again each year) without changing anything with your application, for example keeping the same GPA, won’t necessarily raise the chances of getting accepted into a program, since nothing changes with the application and there the same chance of people with more points getting accepted, just like with the first application cycle! Try to apply to as many schools as possible and aim to get accepted from the first application cycle ☺️

    Hi I am currently In high school taking votech to be a dental assistant. So when I graduate I will also be certified as a DA. I was wondering if I still have a chance of getting in dental hygiene program with a two “C”s from freshman year in Spanish 1 and Algebra 1. Is there still a chance?

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely! The DH programs don’t look at your high school grades. They only look at your prerequisite GPAs so that’s all that matters! Aim to have 3.8-4.0’s on those!

    Is it required to take all of the prereq classes listed for the program? I’m trying to get an associate degree of applied science at this community college and then transferring to another school. The school I’m thinking of transferring to for the dental program says it’s only requires 3 science classes and because the program is competitive at least an additional 12 credits from the courses listed on the Dental Hygiene Program of Study. So I’m taking that as it’s not required to have every single one listed maybe? Because the community college I’m going to to get the a.a.s doesn’t have every class listed that the second school I’m transferring to shows for the prerequisites. For example the a.a.s programs has the science, math, and English but for the second school i wanna transfer to have public speaking and American gov’t. Are those that really important?

    • @inessagud
      @inessagud  3 роки тому

      That’s definitely a possibility but check with the school to make sure that it doesn’t mean that you need those classes, but you can take them after you applied or even got accepted.
      I had a program I was applying to that let you finish 1 more science class and 2 other prerequisites after you already submitted the program application, but it had to be completed before the program actually started, which in my guess seems like that’s what they mean for your case as well. For example a lot of schools have you apply during winter quarter, but the program won’t actually start until summer quarter, so you’ll be allow to finish up any remaining classes during that spring quarter in between!
      Hope this helps ☺️
