Thanks man. This is a great explanation and working example. Really cool feature. I don't mind waiting a little longer for toast to cook if it actually works on a smaller model and doesn't just shut down or not work at all. Up till now it's been quite annoying having to match the upper limit of a products output wattage to your exact use case. I'm looking at the Delta Max which should in theory be able to run everything I have in a kitchen.
Xboost is a misnomer, it does not actually increase the output power of the power station. It has a smart inverter that reduces the output voltage when it senses a potential overload condition so that the total wattage of the coffee maker is lowered (per ohms law) to the nominal output power of the power station. I have a river max with a 500w nominal output and a claimed 1000 w xboost.. My 700W coffee maker works but now gets only 500W (verified by a watt meter) and the coffee is kind of lukewarm. But I am still very happy with the the delta 2 and river max I bought last week!
My question is its set on default with X-boost on. I turned it off in the app cause it says while X-boost is on they say to not power up more than one device at a time. I didnt know that and been running tvs and game systems and charging cell phone and tablets all at the same time for months now so why does it say not to do that when X-Boost is turned on which is on by default. This whole time I been running multiple devices at once and no issues but it says do not do that in x-boost mode. Whats the reason behind this?
Hi There, It could be due to a number of reasons. What model Ecoflow unit do you have? Is X-Boost turned on? Is the battery fully charge? It could be your coffee machine is drawing more Watts then the unit can handle (Even in X-Boost) Cheers, Team Modula
Hello, I did not purchase this from your store but I see you know how to get the xboost to work. I’m trying to power us a brother laser printer for my mobile office and it does not seem to work. Could you do a step by step on setting it up? Also the app looks different than the one you showed. Do you know if there’s more than one app?
Hi Casey, X-Boost is turned on through the app. I believe there is only one app for Ecoflow: ca.ecoflow.com/pages/ecoflow-app. Unfortunately, X-Boost will not be able to run a laser printer that draws more than the rated output because a printer (and other computerized hardware) cannot run at reduced power. X-Boost does not provide extra power, it just stops the internal breaker from tripping in high-demand applications. This makes things like hairdryers run slower and cooler...but they still run, which is good. Hope this helps a little.
I know this is an old vodeo but hopefully you can still help. Im in a semi electric hospital bed which I've gotten stuck in when the power was out and I had to pee. So we got an Eco Flow River 800w. We were told thats sufficient. Just gave it a try and it wouldn't work the bed and showed 0 input and 0 output. Found the xboost option in the app and turned that on and it worked. Not as fast as normal, but well enough with 72 hours remaining. Shows 4watts output. I was under the impression the bed wasn't anywhere near 800w and got this Eco cos it'd give extra power. 600w was what we were told the bed might be at most. Is it normal to need xboost on the bed? I did have issues when I charged (looked online to find I had to reset DC button and then it finally started charging. The unit got up to 114 degrees after 2 hours on fast charge, which was a bit alarming. Is that normal or no? Any help would be appreciated.
It's not uncommon for certain devices, especially those with motors or other power-intensive components, to require additional power during startup or operation. The fact that your hospital bed required the xboost option to be enabled on the Eco Flow River 800w suggests that it may have a higher initial power draw than expected. Regarding the temperature of the unit reaching 114 degrees after two hours on fast charge, I can't say definitively whether that's normal or not without knowing more about the specific environment. However, the unit should monitor the temperature of itself during charging to ensure it dose not overheat. For more accurate information and assistance, I recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of your hospital bed and the Eco Flow River 800w. They should be able to provide guidance based on the specifications of their products and any potential issues you may be experiencing. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck in resolving your situation!
Thanks! I think the one we used here is no longer available, but is similar to the Nespresso Pixie or Inissia. It seems to want to draw about 1200 watts when heating normally. On this unit it is able to lower that draw and therefore it just takes a little longer to warm up. But still works!
In the Wi-Fi direct connection mode, your phone will be directly connected to the unit, so you can view and control the unit in real time without having to connect to the Internet. This mode is suitable for outdoor environments where there is no Wi-Fi network. Multiple users can connect to the unit and control the same unit at the same time. Cheers, Team Modula
Hi please can u advice me i have a water heater that uses almost 2000 watts does it work with the x boost and also same queston for my toaster it uses 2000watt
XBOOST's maximum draw is 1800 Watts. For these numbers, the minimum recommended size would be the EcoFlow DELTA Max. Keep in mind you will only have 1 hour of charge at 2000W draw, unless you add the extra battery.
does the river 2 x boost work also? i heard with the small units it doesn’t really work. same with the surge power lift that bluetti has that is similar to x boost
As the poster above has said, X-Boost does work on the smaller devices, it will just "throttle" the devices wattage. Depending on what electronics you are looking to use, you may want a Ecoflow unit that has a higher Watt output then the River 2. X-Boost is a very handy feature to have, and in our experience has let us run electronics that other battery units have not been able to! Cheers, Team Modula
Hi There, Great question. Could be a few things. First being it may not have been the exact same Nespresso machine. It could have a built in voltage protection that did not allow the unit to run. X-Boost does not provide extra power, it just stops the internal breaker from tripping in high-demand applications. This makes things like hairdryers run slower and cooler...but they still run, which is good. Hope this helps a little. Other reason may be as follows; 1. X-Boost is enabled by default; you can enable or disable it in the EcoFlow App. 2. X-Boost is not available when the AC output is turned on in a recharging state (in bypass mode) and when X-Boost is disabled. 3. X-Boost is not applicable for all electrical appliances; it’s incompatible with appliances with strict voltage requirements. Appliances with voltage protection (such as precise instruments) are not supported. X-Boost mode is more suitable for heating devices. Please conduct your own tests with your devices with X-Boost enabled. Cheers, Team Modula
The River only stores 288 Watt Hours of energy the 3x 30 Watt bulbs would draw 90Watts per hour. 288Wh divided by 90watts is 3.2 hours of run time on the LED's. The espresso machine likely draws near 1500W AC. On X-Boost it would be forced to run at 600W which could be sustained for about 40 minutes.
You can also get an "extension" battery (screwed onto the bottom) for double the capacity. It's also available as a package deal called "River Max". And then there's the River Pro variant (which I just got today): Same size/weight as River Max but 720Wh instead of 576Wh capacity. Battery not detachable but rated for more cycles. And theres a different extension battery for the Pro that would give you another 720Wh. And if you need even more power/capacity, theres the EcoFlow Delta series with the same kind of features (including X-Boost).
Yes. The Ecoflow RIVER can power devices up to 1800W with their proprietary technology, X-Boost. *X-Boost can run devices that require up to 1800W, however, it’s best to test before use. Some 600W-1800W appliances with strict voltage requirements may not function (eg. air compressors).
Hi There, The X-Boost mode is enabled by default. You can use the EcoFlow app to turn this function on/off. Please do not connect the AC output to grid power when the X-Boost mode is on, doing so will activate the low-volt- age protection of the power station

X-Boost allows you to run a high wattage item on the limited wattage of the AC inverter. For example, a hairdryer that usually draws 1000W would run at 600W using X-Boost. It won't be as hot, but it won't cause the inverter to emergency shut down. The battery will not drain any faster at 1000W than at 600W because X-Boost self limits the output to 600W.

Very interresting, how many (long) coffees can you make?
Roughly 12 cups on the River.
Thanks for letting me know X-boost function, but question is how long it can last when you use x-boost to power your 1300w coffee cooker?
It would depend on how many watts per hour the coffee cooker consumes.
