This is one of the CGs that Chizuru looks the most beautiful ever in it. She looks so cute that she almost looks like a child. Now imagine Sannan romancing Chizuru while she has this face. I'm not sure how i feel about that 😅 But i want to say that at the same time, this is one of the most beautiful Yamazaki and Chizuru CG in my eyes. I don't know why, but i believe i see the emotions between Chizuru and Yamazaki in this CG. Thank you, Salty Neo 💔

There was no such thing then as peeing oneself for someone being younger than 25 on a date and even to this day, Japan, like many countries, don't see a problem in a minor dating or flirting or age gaps in relationships so long as the person is at least the age of consent (which is under 18 in many areas) + consenting. The "lack" of romantic moments as you may perceive them is due to Asia's approach to courting and romancing, which is more subtle and subtext than in the West. Actually a lot of things that we wouldn't ever take notice of during Hakuoki's more peaceful scenes are already steamy hot romance to them. The fact it takes a step up during later parts is not because Chizuru is getting older (cause so are the guys and the oldest are nearing their 40s quietly) but to show how desperate the situation gets and how much people bond because of it, throwing "proper" out the window as a result.
@@ViktoriaMagrey She's not underage, if that's what you mean. In the 19th C, most girls married when they reached their mid to late teens. If you were still a single woman by the time you were in your mid - late 20s it was considered embarrassing. It wasn't any different in the West at the time either.
@@isobelduncan I never said she was underage; but you have to consider that this is made *for* a _modern_ audience. It would be perceived negatively if Chizuru was more actively involved in romance before she's a bit older, especially for characters like Hijikata and Sannan where there is a noticeable age gap (or that it was lampshaded in SSL for the latter when he outright tells you you're still too young at 18 in a modern setting due to the age difference). I do not think it's a coincidence that many major events happen when Chizuru is in her late teens (in essence, 18+, some even later). I mean, sure; you can justify it by saying it's just a slow burn, which is not exactly strange in Hakuouki. But for the older bachelors you straight up don't see much of anything until Chizuru is practically at the oldest she'll be in the story.
The story is not all modernised, that was *never* the intention. Plus fans *are* aware of things such as historical and cultural context, to put simply they know that the game is set in a time where a teenage girl romancing an older guy wasn’t seen anything as unusual, yet alone inappropriate. Or how Chizuru is loosely based on some of the men’s real life wives/lovers, and how Japan’s approach to courting and romance is more subtle and subtextual than the West’s, as Lyseven mentioned above. You don’t have to be born in the 19th C to understand how the time period worked. SSL is obviously a different matter since it’s set today, as opposed to 200 years in the past.
I don’t know since it already exists in English on PS3 version of original Hakuouki (before the Shinkai remake) apart from new characters chapters (Souma etc…) so I’m still not sure about doing it. I’ll do Ten’un first anyway.
I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not. If anything he’s more suspicious about Chizuru than romantically interested. And historically he was actually gay. Not to mention he spends most of the game trying to get Itou’s attention (not including Iba’s route in EB).
