Growing up in America, we would see these "Peel Sessions" records and wonder what it was all about. Eventually, internet download speeds caught up with my curiosity and I spent several blissful months listening to the greatest music, often at the wrong speed. I remember Peeley going on that Peruvian vacation. I remember the guest DJs. I remember my friend Gina emailing me that John Peel was dead. (She also informed me that Joe Strummer died)
Both John Peel and Joe Strummer each had a Class 47 diesel loco named after him by Gloucester UK-based former operator Cotswold Rail, as did Captain Sensible.
THIS is the Fall at their best. I never did like the more recent band that backed MES before he died, they sounded somehow sterile and detached...this is the real deal.
well, i made my peace with it today :D. i recommend listening to the fall for the first time by starting with their earliest stuff espeicially the peel sessions. smith already had that manner but he tried to get a certain melodic or rythmic approach goin, which helps fort the later works to accept his "concept" of singing.
THIS ROCKS! I USED TO LISTEN TO PEEL IN PRISON THEN I ESCAPED
sickkk
I am grateful to have been alive during The Fall.

Hail the mighty fall, hope everyone is well. Soundtrack for isolation

ABSOLUTELY essential 6-CD boxed set, as is Ken Garner's amazingly comprehensive book, "The Peel Sessions", in my opinion.
