  • Five Modes Of Failure For Queen Introduction
We are passionate about beekeeping and really enjoy helping beekeepers through our UA-cam channel.
On our channel you can find information on making splits with swarm cells, making increase with queen cells, grafting larvae, foulbrood and disease inspection, honey extraction and machinery, top tips for beginners, products reviews, instructions and guidance plus much more.
#NONONSENSEBEEKEEPING is a UK based beekeeping channel, designed to keep beekeeping as simple and enjoyable as possible. There are no overly complicated techniques or intricate pieces of equipment.
We cover all beekeeping topics ranging from queen rearing, disease recognition/control, honey extraction, swarm management/collection, how to make splits and much more!
My personal favourite aspects of beekeeping are selecting queens for rearing, rearing queens for mating, making up nucs for overwintering and collecting swarms.
We aim to bridge the gap between commercial and hobbyist beekeepers and cater for beekeepers of all experience levels.

6 The Queen cage falls to the bottom of the hive covering the entrance of the cage. 😱

Would please talk about this subject for Primorski bees? I have read that it's more difficult and they aren't beginner bees in general.

Hi Lawrence, I had 2 queens from you mid June to fix failed matings. I was going on holiday 2 days after the queens arrived, so could not go back in and open the tabs. I took the tabs off but covered the holes with masking tape, made a small hole in the masking tape at both of the tab locations. Came back 2 weeks later, both queens alive and laying well. Thanks Barry.

That's a great video Laurence. Though I have kept a small number of bees for quite a few years now it was only last year that I started to use test frames with eggs to check queen status, the bees seem to give the correct answer all the time! 😊

Good advice, especially the first one, test frame and check.
I had a queenless Colony, but for some reason one of my 2024 virgin queens must have flown back into the queenless Now mated and there was eggs.
Luckily i checked again before putting a new queen in.

Could you requeen a hive in the same day? find the failing queen squish her then add the new queen with tabs open? or is that high chance of not being accepted

That was me 😂 I had the smallest queen hiding when I requeened.
BTW the Caucasian queen that I bought off you is awesome. She is perfect for my location, high up, wet, windy lots of clover and heather, plus two garden centres. I did notice that the bees had to resize the cells before the queen would lay.
Caucasian queen went into a hive of black bees.
Really happy with her, will definitely be getting a few more next year.

Great video, wish I watched it a month ago. Would have saved me $190.00 (1st mated queen $45 +$40 shipping) (2nd mated queen $45 +$40 shipping) 😢
