On the Andy Griffith Show Barney Fife sucked as a singer. But IDK ( I Didn't Know) Don Knott's could sing for real he was very good especially singing to his daughter like that it almost made me wanna cry. TYVM (Thank You Very Much) Karen Knott's for sharing your dad's gift with us. OMG ( Oh My God) I think I'm about to cry.
Don had a very sweet soothing voice which he never had the opportunity to use onscreen. This was PRICELESS. On TAGS, he did a great job singing off key and yelling. I know he never yelled at his kids with such high-pitched voice. Though many don't believe this, when he left the shoe it was ONLY because he was thinking of his family because Andy had told him he would only commit to the show for five years. My this precious man live long in the minds and hearts of those he touched. Thanks Karen for sharing your sweet daddy with his many fans, including myself.
I miss Don Knotts! He was great in the movies and this is the first time I heard him sing outside of the Andy Griffith show! It’s a beautiful song and a voice to match!
This was so sweet. Makes me think of my father and I. He still calls me his little girl even though I’m over 40. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. 👨👧🥲
There is a certain sense of innocence in this song when he sings it ….it’s not that he’s such a powerful singer it’s the fact that it’s Don singing it that makes it so genuine and heartfelt ….
What a tender moment that does not appear too staged. I cannot express the depth of love I have for your father, always and forever, Barney to me, though I realize in reality, he was opposite in personality/character...That is so surreal to wrap the mind around. I have travailed through many tough trials in life and your Dad (and the Andy Griffith Show) continually (as of 10 min ago!) lifts me up and out through hilarious laughter, with 'Barn' forever being the core of that response. I REFUSE to watch past season 5. It lost all life after your father left. HUGE loss. Total loss, in my book. The depth of this show is so underrated and the complexity of your father and Barney, are truly thought provoking and so kindred to me. This show/time was simply matchless, as the universe aligned over them like no other show, except Dick Van Dyke. They are forever in my soul and I am so deeply thankful for all they gave me in treasured memories, that does not seem to end, especially...in your Dad/Barn. He has gleaned righteous merit in this life and the one he now holds, through giving so much laughter to so so so many folks through time. I simply love him...so much. Shalom!
I never really watched the Andy Griffith Show since it was a little before my time but I loved him in Three's Company! Just a great comedian. I never knew he had this talent of singing! So sentimental. Love it!
Thank you Karen. It was nice to see a father sing a heartfelt song to their child. That was lovely!! I have been a fan of your dad's since his stint on Steve Allen's show and his hilarious nervous man in the street. He was instantaneously funny and even though I was already an Andy Griffith fan, (I am from the Carolinas), the casting of your dad as Barney Fife was brilliant. Even though he was already funny, he took the part and turned it into comedy gold and himself into a comedy legend! Thanks again.
Heavens to Mayor Pike ! What a wonderfully heartwarming clip ! You were a lovely teenager and you've grown up to be a beautiful (and talented) woman, Karen ! I discovered your channel and videos today ! Kudos, Nifty Ms Knott ! Your dad was one of the greats...and it's marvelous to see you carrying on the tradition ! CHEERS !! :-)
Your dad has been a favorite of mine forever. Thank you for sharing this clip! I heard an interview with Andy where he said it was difficult for Don to sing "badly" for the show. Now I understand why. This was beautiful!
Great song! Hello type in "Ron Howard Palace" listen to Opie sing "Lady"! Also type "Ron Howard cover" listen to "The Dance"! R.I. P. Don you were one of the best! To all of us who have lost loved ones "Life goes that fast ,and we will see them again that soon"!
I never knew for sure this was a real song. I remember a little of it being used in a film commercial (probably Kodak) in the early '60s. Thank you Karen.
Have never seen Don sing outside of The Andy Griffith Show. My Dad told me he gave you your driver's test. If you were around Morgantown at that time, I guess. He was a WV state policeman in the early 70's.
What show was this? Karen, your daddy was one of a kind. There will never be another. Again I say, thanks for sharing him. I know it wasn't easy for either of you.
Karen, I rarely miss TAGS but will only invest my time in the later, B&W versions. Your dad was such a comedic genius & despite any differences they might have hired personally or creatively, paired so well with Andy Griffith. There are some shows I can recite verbatim. Opie’s Three Wishes, Goober & the Art of Love and The Big House I think, are the funniest & my top three favorite episodes. There are a few more honorable mentions like the Pickle Story & Barney’s New Car & many episodes featuring Ernest & The Darlings. Your dad was a genius and as unique as they come. Watching this vid must be very difficult for you on a myriad of levels that not all would understand.
I still love to watch the old Andy Griffith show when Don was on them. In fact, Barney was the best thing about that show, and when he left, I stopped watching it. Yes, Andy was a great actor, but no he couldn't pull off that show without Don. I think you're awesome too Karen.
I am sure whatever Don did for his daughter and wife he wanted to do more until the day he died. I too grew up with a raging.... I wonder how many years he saved his last joke for you? What was it?
JUST MAKES YOU CRY!!
Thank you Karen for sharing this with everyone. Your dad was an amazing person who has brought joy to the lives of millions for decades.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point !
What an entertainer!
Loved this man. He was a legend with a God given talent. Thank You Don Knots for all you did!
I heartily concur !
So sweet
This occasionally gets stuck in my head randomly and I have to come back and listen again. It never fails to make me emotional 😢❤

So great to see Don's talent in such a warm way. Thanks for sharing this Karen.
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion !
This is so pretty and sad. It brings tears to my wife every time she hears it. So enjoyed the show and meeting you yesterday Karen. Take care!
This is the BEST. Granted I cried....for several reasons, but wonderful to watch.
The BEST to his family 💛

Very cool. Loved your dad in The Andy Griffith Show and all his movies. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

So glad I found this!
I always heard the episodes of AGS where he had to sing terrible were his hardest ones. In reality, he could really sing.
That was beautiful.

Wow, and I used to think that he couldn't sing. Magnificant!
Awww...sweet Karen. :)
Mr. Limpett was a champion. Attaboy Don!
Barney Fife can sing And like an Angel!
Your dad has been a favorite of mine forever. Thank you for sharing this clip! I heard an interview with Andy where he said it was difficult for Don to sing "badly" for the show. Now I understand why. This was beautiful!
I remember in '72 wearingg my hair that flat and straight. That really was the style for young ladies then.
Awe, how beautiful !
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe !

I didn't know your dad could sing so well. What an amazing song.
Awe! So sweet.

Very nice tenor vouce
I knew it would be this song
This is so very sweet. 💕
So very true.....
I never knew for sure this was a real song. I remember a little of it being used in a film commercial (probably Kodak) in the early '60s. Thank you Karen.
My favorite episode was forty five and the three women convicts, With floyd the barber he was funny too.
So cute! His daughter looks so much like him!
he had a great voice. is there anything else he has done? I'd love to hear more
Mt.pilot & Mayberry were so blessed! Barney wrote a ton of tickets on tgat mountain ramp!
And don't forget Siler City !
Have never seen Don sing outside of The Andy Griffith Show. My Dad told me he gave you your driver's test. If you were around Morgantown at that time, I guess. He was a WV state policeman in the early 70's.
Any choir director would have welcomed Don in the choir.
This was so sweet!
Indubitably !
What show was this? Karen, your daddy was one of a kind. There will never be another. Again I say, thanks for sharing him. I know it wasn't easy for either of you.
This is a clip from "The Don Knotts Show", a variety show that ran on NBC for one season ('70 -'71).

SO NEAT!
👍🏻
Boy she made him look good showed the world don wasn’t such a homely guy after all!
I am sure whatever Don did for his daughter and wife he wanted to do more until the day he died.
I too grew up with a raging....
I wonder how many years he saved his last joke for you?
What was it?
And yet he portrayed as being tone deaf while he was deputy on The Andy Griffith Show! 😮
Don was a much better singer than Barney Fife, that's for sure.
Nice but Don can’t sing
He can carry a tune.
@@darrelldurley9204 , it’s where he carried it , lol ( I am a fan of Don Knots )
I'm sure his daughter thought he sang great to her and I love Don Knotts to.
