Hello, sound engineer here. Once again this is live and not synched. I can't even imagine the logistical nightmare if we had to do other wise. Unlike what was said, we are not tight lipped about our recording technics at all. Most of us will answer to emails when we have the time. But we've already discussed it on sound forums such as JWSOUND. Also, a making of vid has been made yesterday while we were shooting Daniel Johnston in Porto. It will give you a small idea of how things roll. Cheers!

awhile back there was a lengthy discussion on here about the sound quality, whether it was recorded or live, its all still there, this is live, just very good mics/equipment. replace "watch" with "all_comments" in the URL and scroll down towards the bottom, or do something searching to see what was discussed.

Look at the comment by Shoefiti (I think he works with La Blogotheque) - it shows them recording Daniel Johnston. They use mics on the people/in the guitars etc. They also use overhead mics (as seen on the vid on the "P3 channel") but I'm not sure how they blend it in with the mics on the instruments :) It's not synced!
In the Jason Mraz video, I saw a wireless mic attached to mraz's guitar strap. I think they do that and probably just have a boom mic for group sessions

I think that's the idea, but the singer's voice would resonate differently in the enclosed space (van) than it would in the open air, and when I don't hear the change, I have trouble believing it's not synced. I'd love to be proven wrong here, really, and even if I'm right, this is still an amazing video.

I noticed the singer's face not matching the sound in a few spots too, or it sure seemed like it. I dunno. I freaking love La Blogotheque, and it were proven that you synced, I'd still love you, but it's just the whole "we won't tell you how we do it and even when it seems utterly impossible, we still claim that it's live feed" thing. It's weirding me out.
