  • Sexual intimacy can be an area that many survivors of child sexual abuse feel they struggle with. Because sexual abuse is inherently sexual, sex may serve as a physical, mental, or emotional reminder of the abuse. This is a very natural response considering the brain’s efforts to keep a person safe from trauma and other unpleasant experiences.
This six-part series on sexual health for survivors of child sexual abuse will cover topics including difficulties with sexuality, communication, sexual safety, and more. Practicing what healthy sexuality looks like for you can be a positive part of your healing journey. No matter where you are at in your healing journey and what your current mindset regarding sex is, it is possible to have a healthy relationship with sexuality after sexual abuse.
At Saprea, we liberate individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. We have services that help child sexual abuse survivors find healing from the traumatic effects that have often followed them into adulthood, as well as resources for parents and caregivers to learn how to lower the risk of child sexual abuse in their own homes and communities.
