Just found out this wonderful man passed away back in 2017. Rest in peace, Tom. may your passion for the ukulele inspire anyone lucky enough to stumble upon your music. ❤️
lyrics I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage Called the blood of the exploited working class But they've overcome their shyness Now they're calling me Your Highness And a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God" I destroyed a bond of friendship and respect Between the only people left who'd even look me in the eye Now I laugh and make a fortune Off the same ones that I tortured And a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God" I look like Jesus, so they say But Mr. Jesus is very far away Now you're the only one here who can tell me if it's true That you love me and I love me I'm Enlarging my empire and tightening my grip You see all the politicians work for me And though it may seem stark its just the magic of the markets And its all just business to me I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage Called the blood of the exploited working class And the empires spreading Requires some bloodletting Still a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God" I look like Jesus, so they say But Mr. Jesus is very far away Now you're the only one here who can tell me if it's true That you love me and I love me I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage Called the blood of the exploited working class But they've overcome their shyness Now they're calling me Your Highness And a world screams, "Kiss me, Kiss me, Son of God"
Ok, man, you look like a Hawaiian Santa Claus ( that's a compliment ) and you play an amazing cover of an already amazing song...ON UKULELE. This is one of the best things I've seen this month, I adore it. fav'd and sub'd.
Oh how I love this song! Thank you again for coming into our Political Radicalism class at Thomas--I'm writing a journal on you right now and just thought I'd look you up on UA-cam. You're absolutely the best speaker we've had, second to none--and though I don't quite agree with your political views, your attitude is refreshing and your tunes are totally groovy. Thanks for coming in, and I love your cover of this song.
Haha, wow, @@catsupempire3920 this is an old comment for me. He was a very cool and nice dude from what I remember, and his passionate involvement in labor unions and workers' rights made him a truly engaging speaker for my high school's class on American Political Radicalism, which invited speakers from disparate sides and issues to come address the class to teach us more about the American political landscape. Thanks for replying to my old comment, I am grateful for the opportunity to revisit this video and mourn this kind man who generously gave his time to educate us about a very important cause...I'd say in the long term he's one of the people who have helped open my mind and heart.
Was playing elden ring when this played, roaming Limgrave and taking in all the sights and knowing what I k ow now, this weirdly sums up a large portion of the plot, even with the dlc. Love this! Rest in Peace Tom, your ukulele playing is very well done, like my Lolo playing one on the beach.
Just wonderful, good sir. I've always liked this song, but you've made it ten times more enjoyable. Awesome new verses, they fit the song nicely. Are you a fan of They Might Be Giants? It'd be awesome to see some other "Ukulele Man" versions of some of their songs. Great job man, cheers!

RIP Comrade
13 years later, and I still love this.
lyrics
I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage
Called the blood of the exploited working class
But they've overcome their shyness
Now they're calling me Your Highness
And a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God"
I destroyed a bond of friendship and respect
Between the only people left who'd even look me in the eye
Now I laugh and make a fortune
Off the same ones that I tortured
And a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God"
I look like Jesus, so they say
But Mr. Jesus is very far away
Now you're the only one here who can tell me if it's true
That you love me and I love me
I'm Enlarging my empire and tightening my grip
You see all the politicians work for me
And though it may seem stark its just the magic of the markets
And its all just business to me
I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage
Called the blood of the exploited working class
And the empires spreading
Requires some bloodletting
Still a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God"
I look like Jesus, so they say
But Mr. Jesus is very far away
Now you're the only one here who can tell me if it's true
That you love me and I love me
I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage
Called the blood of the exploited working class
But they've overcome their shyness
Now they're calling me Your Highness
And a world screams, "Kiss me, Kiss me, Son of God"
