my favourite wont help you, you need to know what you are looking for. as a side sleeper memory foam MIGHT be your best friend but what is your weight, what firmness preference do you have, do you need bounce, do you have heat issues?
Hi Alan, another great review, thank you. I've heard you talk about natural latex and in this video you mentioned how pocket spring may not be as good for side sleepers. Am I right in saying natural latex mattresses are better than pocket spring mattresses for side sleepers? I already have nectar memory foam and although I like it for my shoulder issue, I'm looking for an alternative due to waking up with back pain most days.
@@alanrossreviews thanks Alan, based on what you've said I'll take a look at the Brook + Wilde elite hybrid mattress (soft firmness). Perhaps one to consider for review if/when you jump back into another mattress review. There are no other reviews as comprehensive and impartial as yours!
Hi Alan, really appreciate your review. Wondered which you'd recommend between the hybrid pro and the luxe for the following person spec: - heat not an issue - side sleeper 80% of the time, back 20% - heavy build (20 stone) - prefers firmer (prone to lower back ache/stiffness, so needs support) but doesn't want excess pressure on hips/knees/shoulder when on their side - wants to avoid sinking too much in the hip area; needs good spine alignment - no preference regarding amount of bounce - motion transfer not an issue as single user - not too harsh for shoulder when sleeping on side (aggravates old injury) Would they both work on a divan base? Thank you so much!
really because of your weight you probably are looking at good quality natural latex, not sure polyurethane foam will hold up for long. also the smaller springs in simba might struggle as well.
Hey Alan. I noticed that all newer versions of the simba since it was originally released seem to only have 2.5cms of simbatex comfort layer or whatever. As apposed to the 4cms it originally had in the original simba which I currently own. Is this actually the case with all versions and a noticeable difference? Since I didn't see you mention the difference in any of your updated simba reviews and it's hard to see the difference by eye. Say if the original simba isn't actually fully 4cms or some versions of the new simbas have 4, as their diagrams of the layers on the website seem slightly different in size between versions. Also I don't think you mentioned an increase in the size of base layer with the updated "original" 25cm simba or a decrease in overall size. I'm just concerned there won't be enough comfort layer and I may feel the micro coils over time as I'm a big guy. Thanks.
Id be concerned too but a Decent topper would fix this. These regular money saving changes are the reason i stopped reviewing mattresses. There is no way to know if the mattress i was reviewing would be the same one being sold the next week.
Hey Alan! Smashed it again with the vid. I'm looking at the Nectar for me and my partner (70kg + 55kg, both side-sleepers). I get pretty hot at night and I know you'll tell me again about how memory foam ain't the one but we want that soft luxurious feeling. Since you like the Nectar yourself, how hot do you find the Nectar? Are there any other mattress options that recommend instead that are cooler ? (budget =
I dont have the nectar any more. People are telling me their recent nectars are feeling quite firm. For a softer memory foam mattress i would look at the hugge
remember memory foam sinks in and that alone will allow for heat build up. the modern ones are not quite like the old ones but then thats because they are more between a memory foam and normal polyurethane foam anyway. you cant get away from the more molding the memory foam the more heat it will absorb.
Hi Alan, a thorough review. I‘ve just received my replacement Luxe as the original didn’t expand to the full 31cm (it was about 28cm). Any idea how that would effect the sleep experience and why it happens? 36 hours in and I’m worried the same is happening.
@@alanrossreviews she just said that after 6 days, when I contacted them, It was probably faulty and offered a replacement. I insisted on sending pics to show info. Hello, I have same issue. 10 days in and still not 31cm. Layers from bottom to top are. Base 122mm, white layer 32mm, blue 38mm, thin white 15mm, blue 38mm, white with black speckles 36mm, wool about 5mm and cover 3mm. Total 289mm (29cm) do you think I should get a replacement? Great review by the way, wish I watched it before buying as it's too bouncy at the moment, hoping it settles down. Had the standard first but was too firm.

well you dont want memory foam thats for sure. natural latex would be good. otherwise polyfoam on top of full size springs. you could also consider a wool topper.
Would you go for the hybrid, or hybrid pro for a side sleeper like me? I only weigh 73 kg, and 172cm height. I have a Silent Night mattress, made of miracoil springs foam and memory foam, it's very comfortable. But it's been 12 years now, and it's still just ok for the age, but i think it's time for a replacement. I always enjoyed it, and think they know what they are doing. I’ve just purchased a hybrid PRO super king size of simba’s eBay refurbished for £220 I’m a heavy guy atm at 18 stone. so not sure how well it will last/support me but it seems super comfy to me my partner is 12 stone. and days it’s much firmer than I say obviously been 6 stone heavier. we’ve got a really expensive wool/alpaca topper we’ve put over it seems super comfy.
