Lucky is the person who buys this boat. It’s an ocean boat that can be single handed. With low draft it just sits in its own cove while other yachtsmen seek and stress at anchorage. Great show once again
I never heard of this boat but bow have I heard of Cheoy Lee and The international folkboat. These two boats are the basis of my covet. This is amazing information. Thanks for showing me a new special wonder for me to investigate.
Recently new Subscriber and total Newbie in the Sailing/ Boat World. I've been learning about Sailboats and thought I knew generally what I wanted and this certainly wasn't "It". Was wanting something Complete, not having to do any Work on it. Well, this Boat is screaming my Name. My Intuition says this is the "One". Why am I so attracted to this Boat, when I know so little about them and it's not what I thought I was looking for?! LoL! Also, really enjoying your Channel!
It’s easy to be smitten by her. Can be sailed as is and worked on at your own pace. Aces! Glad you’re enjoying the channel. Thanks for the comment and for watching! Welcome aboard!
Nice thorough video gentlemen. I hope there’s someone out there who looks at this pocket cruiser as beautiful sailboat and not just a boat striped down with tons of work. The old Cheoy Lee’s are well built and a nice pedigree to boot…
Cool boat. I had that same model Yanmar in.my Hunter. It is a reliable fuel sipping engine. No glow plugs, so early spring and late fall mornings can be a challenge to get it to pop off. I had it in a marina with shore power, and a hair dryer shot up into the air cleaner for a few minutes would be enough to get it going.
Great find guys! I've got to say ... I think that you inadvertently touched on great idea. You should buy this and make it a channel project, if nothing else it would quiet the naysayers if you did fix her up. It would be a great piece of content for filler episodes in the winter season!!!
I would buy this fabulous Choey Lee in a second. I’m actually looking for a sailboat just like this for my Maine summer retired life - near future (escape CA. desert heat). Love your boater smarts insights. btw. I own a classic Pacific Seacraft Flicka -20. ❤❤❤. One of the best compact blue water cruisers! Keep up the fun boat hunting😊. What about doing a review of fave marinas or Maine harbors?
Thanks for your comment! Would be a great retired summer project boat! I’ve got family in Tucson. I don’t know how they survive summers down there (though they say the same about winters up here). Maine Marinas/boatyards: I could see that. Favorite sailing spots: no way! 😂 Can’t give those secrets out…
Thank you. Yes, agreed, so many great, reasonably affordable boats out there with a lot of sailing left in them. Appreciate your comment & thank you for watching!
The price is absolutely right. The condition maybe not so much for me. At 70 years old I need something a little less disassembled, but as Mr. Bond said, never say never. If I could get rid of all of my rental property maybe. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
I am getting 74 in november sailing my 50 year 27 feet doublender. Hopefully to continue when i am at least over 80. I sailed 6 months last yesr , will go to Germany end of february and continue to the med. It keep me fit !
Not for ocean crossings. Delivery captain here. This boat is extremely uncomfortable in waves. Great boat for dreaming, not great for being in 20+ waves.
Not sure anyone is suggesting sailing in 20+ waves…But definitely great for day sailing and maybe some cruising along the coast of Maine…if that’s considered dreaming, I’ll take it!
The words perfect boat is an oxymoron, since every boat is a combination of compromises. My first boat was a power boat, but zooming around inland waters eventually wore out the novelty. My next boat was a 30ft fixed keel yacht, with head, separate bedroom etc... But was expensive and had to be moored 2hour drive from my home, eventually been there did that. Being older I decided to down size to a trailable yacht, thinking 25ft might be a good size, but measuring my parking I could only store a 18ft boat and trailer... I then realised my vehical towing ability limited weight... I then realised raising a mast is normally a two person job once the mast gets to big... in the end a 18ft drop keel was my compromise.... I can call it perfect because it is a perfect fit for me!
🌍P.O.E.🌏🇺🇸 very nice. I hope you guys are off to a good new year. Thank you for the video but seen that guy become a grandfather last November I’m probably looking for something like a Lido 14 the fatty needs will probably be used for my camping gear to get to the other side of the lake or something like that cause I do love sailing and I do not wanna give it up keep on smiling and keep on sailing
In the video you say the rudder post has been replaced, which confuses me. Would it have a rudder post if the rudder uses pintles and gudgeons? 🤔 Perhaps it's had new pintles and gudgeons, and that is what's meant?
I would certainly encourage a survey, but there are two horizontal rods/pins running through it from back to front to add additional strength. Not suggesting that settles it, but they are there. Obviously it’s important enough for a close inspection.
2000 bucks. Tops. Too much work to figure out for six grand. No matter how many parts are there. I've seen much nicer boats on this channel for less. Just sayin. Otherwise it is a sweet sail boat definitely can see the good bones.

Agreed. Sweet boat. Easy to manage!
I never heard of this boat but bow have I heard of Cheoy Lee and The international folkboat. These two boats are the basis of my covet. This is amazing information. Thanks for showing me a new special wonder for me to investigate.
Our pleasure! And thank you for watching!
Beautiful boat, and my birth year. When I'm ready to sail I'd be blessed to find a boat like this 🤗
It will happen! Good birth year!
Howdy, fellow first edition Gen Exer. If you are looking at getting a boat, I've never seen a better time for availability of low priced boats.
Great!!! Great find thanks for another great episode!!
Thank you!!!
Cold weather with sunshine is really nice.
It was a little too cold!
Apricity-The warmth of sunshine on a sunny winter day. That would make a good name for a boat.
Great word! And you’re right!
Great name!

Beautifully redone and archived for we redoing the interior please ship to Northern California
It’s a great boat!
Excellent single hand boat😎🤙
Indeed!
I spent a lot of sea time on a newer and much larger cheoy Lee ketch, and I know they are very solid vessels. ❤
Definitely solid! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Wonderful overview - looks a lot like my Alberg 30
Definitely! Great boat, btw!

Yep. No glow plugs on our Perkins. Cold morning starts are difficult, but always happen! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful
Thanks, I think so too!

Scroll insignia on the cove stripe is known as “dragons breath” for the Cheoy Lee made in China. We loved ours!
That’s awesome! I did not know that!
❤ looks like a fun boat-great find!
Thank you! Yes, really neat boat!
I love how you 2 show real boats that normal people could afford. Too many 50ft youtube sailboat channels out there. Thx!
Thank you. Yes, agreed, so many great, reasonably affordable boats out there with a lot of sailing left in them. Appreciate your comment & thank you for watching!
These were great little boats. I'm confident it was one of the boats that influenced the design of Pacific Seacraft Orion.
I have not heard that but it’s certainly possible! The Orion is a very cool boat, too!

Its a steal at that price.
We think so too. Super boat.

Choey Lee's I been on have steel punching in concrete for ballast, does this one?
It's easy to fall in love with this one, she is sweet indeed!
Agreed!
Similar to a Tartan 27 and many of those are out there.
Definitely. And those are great boats!
😎😎😎
Expensive and lots of work to do...
Kinda like a Columbia 29 .
Wow. Just looked that one up. You’re right. Similar lines for sure!
Puffy jackets...
Yup, too twin-like! In Maine so LL Bean!
that rudder does look a bit sketchy
The rudder is actually awesome. Just some peeling bottom paint. Structurally sound. And cool!
@@boatfools I see some cracks with the grain , like it could split length-wise

Needs lots of work for 6800
But you literally have to do nothing at all unless you want to. Chip away at it when you’re inclined. It comes with everything…

I think with an additional 25000 to 30000 dollars, it would be a decent boat .
How did you arrive at those numbers?
I have American money!!
Nice boat, but i wouldnt pay more than 1500-2000 for it.
"Small, Almost Perfect" 😂
I demand that you shoot me now.
What could be hidden in a sandy ballast? Drugs going in and cash going out?
6500 AND I WILL PAY CASH !!!
