Tie between ds1 warriors of sunlight, and ds3 moundmakers.
Edit: Wait, Rat bros. Shenanigans abound!

Covenants in Demons Souls: World Tendency.
Dark souls 1, 2 and 3: You find a specific npc or place, you can enter.
Bloodborne: Same as Dark Souls but more obscure.
Elden Ring: The entire world of the game revolves around factions...and you can enter only in two(that have the same function)...thanks Miazaky.

Miyazaki “lowering the bar” in ER was what I personally think was one of Fromsoft’s worst decisions.
Covenants encouraged the player base to interact with online and PvP, and it gave PvE’ers a organic chance to understand the perspective of the PvP side. Without covenants, the bar isn’t just lowered, it’s completely absent.
There’s no reason to try multiple invasions. There’s no invasion areas that usually resulted in peak chaos. Covenants like Grave Lords allowed for very unique interactions between the PvE and PvP communities. The only thing removing covenants did was further divide the player base between PvE and PvP.

Even during Dark Souls 3 heyday, I was only summoned like 5 times as a Blade of the Darkmoon. When I did get summoned, it was an instant "Victory achieved" I get sent back to my world and got no rewards. I seriously had no choice but to grind those silver knights...

I only have a bad memory of covenants i played ds3 and ds1 during the server shutdown and 100% all achievments in those two games the covenant grind was not fun i spent so many hours grinding when i was done 100% ds3 i had like 150+ hours in the game

Primeval demons' souls allow for upgrading special weapons, like Moonlight GS. Can believe you missed it

Seeing how DS II has best covenant system, its understandable how Miyazaki removed whole system. Covenants shouldn't be complex weird system that punishes exploring. How to join moundmakers in DS III is one of the stupidest thing in the game and Darkmoons are another wth moment in the game. DS II perfected covenants. There is no punisment for joining other covenants, there is no weird bullshit for secret for joining and territorial covenants works as territorial, not interups your progress or force you to pass mandatory areas. And you forget to mention abyss and dragon covenant in DS II.

What are you talking about? Mound Makers were awesome! I agree Ds2 had the best overall covenant system, but Mound Makers were definitely best covenant idea introduced in Ds3.
As a Mound Maker, you weren’t just some invader trying to kill the host. You were an invader trying to kill a certain number of players regardless of their faction. You could be biggest gremlin possible.
You could side with a red to take down a gank, only to turn on the red and kill him once his health gets low. You don’t even need to ruin people’s jolly co-op! You invade a host that has sunbros? Just kill the sunbros and that’ll usually meet your quota, so you can just leave while the host gets to live. You could even farm the Vertebra Shackles with another player easily.
It was hands down the best covenant of Ds3. It was unique unlike Blades of the Darkmoon which are just a reskinned Blue Sentinels with no reason to exist other than ‘lore’.

@@TheTurt at first it was unique but it got old pretty fast. Anyone see a moundmaker kills him whether red or blue its just risky to leave them.
I'm not against the moundmakers, at least they tried new ideas, the joining part is ridiculously complex.

I actually forgot about covenants because they are basically useless if you dont play PvP in these games and lets be honest, the PvP in every Fromsoft game sucks.

@@angeltzepesh1ladders? It sounds more like your problem was taking souls PvP too seriously.
Souls PvP does suck. No one will argue against that, but it has so much potential for its fun and chaoticness. Ds3 invasion areas were some of the greatest online interactions you could have in any game. But if you treat souls PvP like a fighting game tourney, then you will be miserable.

@@TheTurt i dont take it too seriously since there is no rank, but every time i tried it the delay was insane, most of the hits didnt even hit me yet i was taking damage(yeah i know the opponent has the same). I love the idea of invasions or duels, but the execution of PvP is horrible and i would rather play a proper online game over this, I can't have fun with such a big delay.

I don't mind the idea of covenants. They can be cool for the world but locking unique spells and gear behind a big grind like that was a mistake. Especially since the pvp is an acquired taste and too jank to enjoy for most. The offline way of getting those items is just horrendeus.

The grinding is tedious but the benefits to PVP is amazing. A way of blue host and warrior of sunlight phantom get invaded by an aldrich faithful and finger of rosaria, then a blue sentinel is called in to help and a mound maker invades. That paired with the seeds of a giants tree allows for an incredibly unique experience, creating a four way battle between the host, invaders, mound maker and pve. Covenants allowed for unique playstyles and interactions. Like to help people, warriors of sunlight. Like pvp and want to try out a ton of builds on the same character, fingers of rosaria. Like pvp but want to help others, blue sentinels and darkmoon blades. Like pvp and want to roleplay, farron watchdogs and aldrich faithful. Want to be an agent of absolute chaos, mound makers. Want to show off a cool and thematic build, spear of the church. Don't like pvp but still want the health boost from an ember, way of blue to tilt the odds in your favor.
