Hey buddy, I love your videos and the information you provide. I do comment frequently, usually praising or adding additional info to your comment, but I have to warn about Saltaway. I had a well maintained Yamaha 130 that started overheating. The first thing the mechanic asked was, "Do I use Saltaway?" He told me it clogs the water jackets. I was skeptical, but he allowed me to watch while he opened up the engine. Sure enough, the water jackets were full of a "foam" that reminded me of shaving cream that got left on the end of the nozzle. I still use Saltaway, but I don't leave it in the engine. I run the engine up to temperature, dispense the solution until the suds come through, then shut everything off for 10-15 minutes. I then restart the process until the water runs clear. My result.? No corrosion, no clogged water passages. As always, I mean my comments to be respectful and, hopefully, helpful. Thanks again.
I leave the salt away in my engine I shut engine down before it’s gone leave some in it. I rinse well with water first then switch to salt away and shut engine down before it’s out of container how I do it
My Yamaha owner's manual does not recommend running the engine on the flushing port. I have read it's okay if the engine only idles. There are concerns that running on the flushing port could damage the water pump as no water is running through it. Could you clarify. Then Engine is a 2023 F250 mechanical.
totally disagree! run the saltaway through the engine and after its gone through the container let it run freshwater and get rid of the saltaway is fine. get rid of any chemical sitting inside the engine. Do your homework
I posted my unfortunate experience with leaving the Saltaway in the engine as instructed. It clogged the water jackets. It's a good, effective product but has issues if not flushed out. Look for my comments.
Salt-away website says to leave the solution in the engine. I would think leaving it in for a period of time to work and then flushing later makes sense.
@rob_was_here Trust me, it can clog water passages . I followed the directions and learned the hard way. I described it in an earlier comment on this video.

I add salt away to a tub and allow the motor to come up to temp continuously running it through the outboard until the water gets warm
Thanks for sharing that advice. I just started using Salt aWay after 40 yrs.

You cannot go wrong following the manual. If you want to run the motor, use the muffs.
Once you have cerosion you always have it
