I always suggest to also find and use the thickest gaskets possible for the best chances of sealing and to help a bit with heat soak/vapor lock. Also to save you a few bucks in the future coat your carb gaskets with a thin coat of chapstick or bearing grease, if you do that you can reuse the carb gaskets most of the time if you don't then they usually stick and rip when you remove the carb.

There's another reason to use those adapters "upside down". I picked up an old holley 4175 from a junkyard, long ago pulled from some late 70s mopar. To save a few cents on their end, they spec'd it spread bore - well, to use it on my aftermarket intake on my chevy, I need exactly that.
Now that I think about it, I should just find a normal baseplate.. and 4165 secondary metering block et al... man, it never ends lol. or just use the stupid adapter for now and be happy

Do you know if there are Adapter plates to put a Chevy Carb (factory Chevy TBI) on to a Ford 351W?
I got a propane work truck 1985 F-350 commercial dually flat deck I want to make it Dual fuel because Propane is nice and cheap, but it starts like trash in the cold weather and some towns don't sell Auto propane . I have some spare TBI around from my Square body Suburban and Love the GM TBI system. And TBI means I can shut it off easy and use propane when convenient. I'm planning on just sliding the TBI underneath the Propane mixer (propane carb) and wiring some shut offs switches.
Are there GM to Ford or Ford to GM adapter plates?

Propane has a 3 stage set up equivalent to a carb. It goes from the tank into a safety valve, then into a vaporizing converter, then into a mixing Diaphragm. The mixing Diaphragm is like a carburetor but it's alot simpler because everything is pure gas at the mixer.
Here in Canada you can pickup all kinds of Propane trucks Chevy and Ford from the 70's 80's and 90's because they were easy conversions, and they were exempt from road taxes back then. Even today with Road taxes applied to the Propane is only $0.90 per liter ($2.49 US gal) vs Gasoline at $1.50 per liter ($4.14 US gal) and Diesel at $1.70 per liter ($4.70 US gal).
But Propane isn't sold for Automobiles everywhere, and about 10-15 degrees below freezing and you need a Block heater or you can't start the truck.

I appreciate you not making it too short. Very useful. Question about the spacers though. On one of the many other videos I've been watching about fine tuning the edlebrock carbs, 1 guy recommended 1" or higher non aluminum spacers to insulate the carb from the engine. His reason was that with all the ethanol in gas now, he had run into instances where hot engines were boiling the ethanol and causing issues. Now he was a hot rod guy. Have you seen this in your daily driver?

I like your video and I was hoping to clarify something . You mentioned earlier in the video of people putting the adapter upside down and it caused problems. If I understood you right you turned one upside down intentionally to make the adapter fit? I have a Holley 4180 on a 460 that I need to replace with a quadrajet carburetor the kit I have is a spectrum adapter kit designed to adapt Holly and other carburetors to a quadrajet manifold. I need to do it the other way around. Can I simply flip over the adapter and as you mentioned get longer studs and be able to make it work with maybe a few small modifications? Thank you. very helpful video

I'm not sure with that specific brand and how it's designed, but most of them are already made to go either way. If it's not, I'm sure longer studs might work.

Hi! I am trying to adapt an edelbrock like the one in this video to the stock small block intake. You said that the butterflies will not open without the adapter. On a forum I read this statement. "A lot of 4bbl intakes have that asinine square bore to spread bore adapter on them, if so toss it and put on a phenolic spacer the same thickness".
Thoughts? Will the phenolic spacer be better or worse than the adapter?

Depends on what intake you have.
