Even at Mercury with the higher gravity of the sun providing a speed boost, a 100m body would create a crater of no more than 1 or 2 km but nothing like Caloris.

These are deceptions! Do not believe anything these people tell you. The conditions out there are nothing like they tell you. These are intended to brain wash, manipulate and deceive you the way they have always done since time immemorial. If the conditions on the outer planets were what they tell you they are you would not be able to see them even with telescopes because the light would be too faint. These are the lies that they're tasked with to feed you until your days, which are few run out. Who hath ears to hear let him hear!

We should land a rover on Mercury. It could shroud itself under a shield during the 88 days of daylight and travel during the 88 days of night.
Even if it didn't survive the first period of daylight, its short period of observation before Sunrise would be very informative.
Alternatively, it could be landed in Borealis Planitia, and travel in the perpetual dark of its arctic region.
