You are 100% right about Puerto Vallarta , Mexico. I spent a week here and the weather is amazing and the people are very friendly and respectful to Americans. The beaches and the board walk is amazing.
The food is outstanding. The women are beautiful. There was red flags on the beach all week and the undertow was extremely strong and dangerous. But I enjoyed the water and the beach every day I was here .
I have walked around downtown went to the mall . Puerto Vallarta is an amazing place for Americans to visit .🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Make sure you wear your sunscreen even in the winter months .

"Violent crime does not exist in Puerto Vallarta."
I've lived here for two years and my girlfriend has lived here for her entire life and we can both unequivocally say that this statement is 100% false. Hell, the former governor of Jalisco was just assassinated on the main street across from La Isla only back in December! (Also, even more recently - though outside of Vallarta - there was the shootout between the national guard and a cartel force up in Guayabitos, involving machine guns, grenades, and rocket launchers.) There are shootings, kidnappings, rapes, robberies, extortion, and all other manner of violent crime here. Any Mexican city that heavily relies on tourism will do its best to keep the violence hidden away but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist nor that it can't reach out and touch you. I've experienced violent crime while living here and my girlfriend has as well several times, along with many of her friends and family. To say that violent crime doesn't exist here is very irresponsible and misleading.
I lived across the street from el estadio a couple of years ago and a house was discovered a few blocks away where you could pay $20 and take your pick of kidnapped, underage girls to rape. I think there were 10 or so girls found in the house when it was raided by the police. My friend from the states lived here with his family for 6 months or so and worked as a tattoo artist - after giving two men a tattoo he was told by his Mexican work mates that that kind of tattoo was a trophy for sicarios who had just murdered someone.
I've had almost zero negative experiences and would recommend traveling here to anyone but I would also tell them to be careful, vigilant, and prepared. People disappear in Mexico every day - people who speak the language, know the customs, and who understand how things work. So you, a foreigner, a stranger, someone totally ignorant of where you are, can absolutely be a victim of violence.
Further along in the video now and you compare the crime rate of Vallarta, which has a population of 200 some thousand people, to American cities like Miami and Las Vegas, both of which are at least double in population size. Then you assert that violent crime is rare and in those few instances the victims have been suspected of being involved with the cartels - this is a nauseatingly obtuse argument routinely used to sweep ugly things under the rug rather than confronting them. Also you should know that the cartels, whose violence you want to stay away from, have invested money in the hotels and condos you might be living in - involving you to some degree in the financing or function of their criminal enterprise.
Statistically, are you going to be the victim of a violent crime in Puerto Vallarta or anywhere else as a tourist traveling through Mexico? No. But that doesn't mean violence doesn't exist nor that it can't touch you. Statistically unlikely does not mean impossible. Pay attention, stay vigilant, and maintain your personal security. Stay safe my friends.

Posts like yours are good, because it balances things out. I think a lot of videos like this aren't trying to lie, they're just presented by people that have blinders on. A lot of places like this have a cost of living so low that it allows you to retire way earlier enjoy year round tropical weather among other things and I think that blinds a lot of people.

i went to Yelapa with my friend and my daughter and her boyfriend at the time. We took a water taxi over for $2 each and ate freah lobster and had amazing margaritas! and went to a rodeo. We spent the night in a treehouse and ended up staying for 3 days! We almost went across the way to go kite-sailing and changed our minds. Later on, after we got home, we saw on Americas Most Wanted that the guy running the kite-sailing gig was a murderer! Also, in Yelapa , there was no law, a guy name Burrito who had a knife scar across his torso, proclaimed his love to my friend, all while the guy who had the water taxi, little restaurant and tree house, begged me to stay. and marry him! Everything under the sun was offered to us. The rodeo was a trip! They have these little Spanish horses and they stacked up hundreds of cases of mini corona beers, the riders would ride up on their horse and offer you a beer and then open it with their teeth! My daughter was in 4H at the time and she is very beautiful, she accepted their offer to ride in the rodeo PS don’t drink water in Mexico!

Also, people mentioned "calling" an Uber. I've never had to call an Uber. I just put in the app where I want to go and someone takes me there. Does Uber work differently in PV? Is it a different app? Anyway, I’ve learned something. But I won’t be using this word. Yes it’s a word. But it shouldn’t be.

eviuli, Most people are currently wearing masks on the streets since covid cases are going up and hospitals are full. Things tend to ease up when cases level off and there is room in the hospitals.

If your telling people not wear flashy jewelry I believe that would mean that there is a problem when or if you do wear flashy jewelry. I noticed you had no jewelry on except for a rubber bracelet. I don't believe this place is as safe as you make it out to be. I'm still not sold on the safety in Mexico. Do you get paid to bring tourism into the area?

Even a $10 costume jewelry is mistaken for real gold. Of course many parts of the US are dangerous, but nobody pretends it's not, and they're not trying to convince you to move to Detroit and just use common sense. Annoying AF.

What is a solo female travel expert? Is that actually a title lol? I'm a female travel photographer that travels solo for a living but I don't think someone can be an "expert" in something like that. Seems like a marketing scheme.

    • @LivingOverseasTV
      @LivingOverseasTV  2 роки тому +2

ars660, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. If you google "solo female travel", you get 165 million results so I think we can call it a legitimate category. Dez and Olga are both travel experts, writing articles and blogs about travel from a woman's perspective. Dez blogs, and guides at her website at: www.mydeztination.com.
Olga Maria is a Travel and Lifestyle Expert and world travel blogger at www.DreamsinHeels.com and www.LatinasWhoTravel.com. Olga has been a featured speaker at travel industry expos and trade shows on the subject. Maybe it is a marketing scheme, it's certainly a marketing title but I believe they are true experts in this area and have great wisdom when it comes to issues and concerns that women have while traveling.

I was out front to take my young dog out at 3AM. A tall, skinny young man had been hanging around and he appeared demanding pesos, so I pointed toward the hills and told him to leave. He picked up a brick and was threatening me, so we were ready to take this to the sidewalk; however, my 7 mos. old puppy-dog came back and sat at my side with ears alert - then suddenly the dog lunged at the boy and chased him two blocks while nipping at his feet. The next day I was experimenting with the Machete and found it was invisible under my shirt. At the bar, there were only three of us and the subject drifted toward security. Then, I whipped out the machete and swung it in the air surprising everyone - I said "We NEVER worry about security!!"
