Thanks so much for the video - just one thing; the anatomical snuffbox is more proximal and lateral than the area you are palpating in this video - between the tendons of the extensor pollicis brevis and extensor pollicis longus, which can be better visualised with full finger extension + abduction :)
Yes looking for nail changes is important, that wasn’t labelled in the video but in reality you do this throughout the assessment. In particular nail signs of psoriasis could be highly relevant in the context of an inflammatory arthritis.
The examiner was checking dexterity of the fingers and thumb needed for ADLs such as buttoning shirts and picking up small objects like coins, ballpens, or pins.
it would be extremely helpful if you did another version of this amazing video on a patient with a hand abnormality/finding!!

Hand and fingers examination to determine if they are in proper function .👍
