These have been the best medical exam demonstrations I've seen as they actually show ailments. Every other channel is examining individuals in perfect health without any context for what the ailments look/feel like. 💯💯
love the t-shirt - at first glance i thought the beatles were edited on top of the video, but then realized the 'patient' just has great taste in t-shirts! keep it up guys.. awesome!
Great job! If I had access to these videos years ago when I was in medical school, I would have been able to relax more and stress less. Keep up the good work. I am pleased to see fellow students working together supporting one another. _Jeff
Great video. One small detail I wanted to check: when you assessed sensory function of the median nerve you touched the radial palm. This is right but carpal tunnel syndrome may not give you sensory loss there, due to the palmar branch of the median nerve travelling superiority to the flexor retinaculum.
Each guide on our website (geekymedics.com) have an associated PDF mark scheme and an interactive checklist. Our app also has a checklist for each exam. Hope that helps!
Great video - just a few suggestions: INSPECTION Don't forget to assess for any rashes/scars/bruising and ganglions PALPATION Tendon crepitus and tenderness MOVEMENT Thumb movements SPECIAL TESTS Finkelstein's (De Quervain's tenosynovitis) Keep up the good work!
great video, thank you so much!! double check your link in the description. for the Move section, it says to assess passively first and then active, however it should be the opposite. The video has it correctly :)
Wow, this is very good. I plan to take OSCE in December. This gives me an idea of what they are looking for. However, I have not memorized all the nerves that that innervate the fingers. It seems too complicated?
quick question about the thenar muscles. There are 3 of them, so is it normal for a hand to have a dent in the thenar area when you extend/flex the thumb? I believe its the very bottom one and middle one, a dent between the two? Not at rest, just only when you start extending/flexing the thumb or hand.
Be aware of saying, "that's fantastic" all the time. NB examinations need to be tailored to history. If there is hand trauma, you need to be assessing flexor/extensor tendons and digital NV bundles.
you guys are a prime example that students teach students better.
