you should do a state of the game update for those of us who haven't been following for the last two years
There’s more things to do, there are connectivity issues and performance is hit or miss.
This would be awesome! Especially since 3.19.1 is looking to be very stable and will likely bring a big resurgence or at least a good chunk of new/returning players
A tank that opens in the FRONT with no ground clearance and a mechanically operating seat so I can get shot while sitting through an exit/entrance animation?!? That's gonna be a 'no' from me, dawg. 🤣
biggest bonus of this vs nova is you can solo this, I don't typically have another person available to use the nova. I think it'll be great to roll up to bunkers when you can't land your ship close by.
The Nova driver has access to the main gun via a Remote Turret option, so it's very much soloable.
Not sure if it was like that at release, but it is now 👍
@@Draxel I think it was always like that.
You're never rolling up to bunkers with that as it is massive, you'll need a C2 or something like that to transport it, also why would you wanna take an unpractical tank to bunkers as the turrets don't shoot you, better take a cyclone imo, cheaper and can be transported by anyone, as for the solo value, I don't know who would attempt to solo things like JT using a ground assault
A correction: The Storm has one size 3 gun. It's just dual-barreled like the attrition series of guns.
The pilot seat is front-accessible probably because so CIG could use ship entering animations that already exist. And yes, the width is a big deal. If you can't fit the Storm in anything that couldn't fit a Nova you might as well take the Nova.
Yeah, if this thing can't fit in a Valk, something went wrong in the design
There are so many IFVs, light tanks, infantry fire support, and light scout vehicles to draw inspiration from and CIG released this thing. It isn't more transportable than Nova, doesn't have rocket munitions, and has a bifold door between the pilot and very highpowered weaponry. They should have brought in an outside consultant for this vehicle.
Hard missed opportunity for an actual Light tank the size of an Ursa. I’d have given it a bespoke railgun.
I was tempted to get it as it looks a lot like the Tumbler from the Nolan Batman movies,
Being ground vehicles, they aren't constrained by weight, so they should balance the downside of being vulnerable with much bigger components. Give it size 3 components. Then it would make sense why the driver has a tiny cockpit vs the rest of the size of the thing.
i wish we could have a strom version that would be like the lightning of planetside 2 equiped with the DCA flak canon , that was pretty fun to use back then
The Lyran Commonwealth knows that the Nova is a perfectly acceptable scout tonk; the Storm and Cyclone are therefore unnecessary :D
ALL Nova is a Stiener Scout Lance.
The Tonk fits width wise in the Valkyrie and Carrack comfortably. The Storm with the gun tucked in should fit in no problem
@@realRorschach the tonk has room to spare. It is a tight fit. Like I said, the only reason the tonk does not fit is its height
Since it is likely that this vehicle would see more combat that most land vehicles, is it worth getting it with the extended insurance?
It may have it´s chance to be a chess piece of an army , or to be used inside those future gigantic bunkers(as CIG stated) which could be explored with vehicles. Best way for use it would be : buy it´s LTI(securing it´s $70 price) , melt it, close your gap CCus(and buy a cheap $5 CCu to it too), and if you really like it, buyback it´s LTI. If you dont like it, you´d have a somewhat but not so much expensive LTI Token
Disregarding the point of the video (should you buy);
The Storm, compared to the Nova, is Fast. That's a given. Might even be Cyclone Fast or something.
The Storm is _also_ a completely solo ground vehicle. That's a strong plus.
Finally, you should _not_ be using the Storm alone. Given the common Hercules' capacity for 2 tanks, it is a Storm + Nova or at least Storm + Storm duo that you scale up.
(In the current environment, also add both types of Anvil AA vehicles as a matter of course because of course this has to be a group effort).
I want to sit half out on top on the Tonk like Rommel.
Pls a new Video about the Polaris i bought it recently and want to know ure opinnion about the ship
As long as CIG doesn't confirm this thing will fit in a Valk, I am definitely not into this.
From the measures we currently have, it won't go past the hydraulics.
It doesn't have 2xS3 laser weapons, only one S3 remote turret. It can therefore either have 2xS2 or 1xS3.
Though I don't think you should be able to lock ground targets, they should have only a few hundred meters detection range and they should have tons more armor than ships, for balance.
I expect that Star Citizen Gameplay and Economy will facilitate a balance of power more akin to the real world than for example World of Warcraft. While Warcraft has a linear progression with rising levels and wealth with absolutely no way to revert the progress that will definitely be the case in Star Citizen. Meaning that "Setbacks" are a thing. Insurance is not meant as a savepoint where you can never loose a thing. As in the real world most Insurance will come with a heavy running cost, especially if it is unreasonable. (Like life insurance for a terminally ill patient or insuring the paint job on a crash car)
So I do not share the idea that "we will all be rich someday". I think it is more likely that based on skill and effort most people will have "their ship" they will take out to "work" and upgrade it from time to time. At some point a ship will need replacement or a total overhaul to keep it spaceworthy, so some money needs to be saved up for that.
Those with superior skill in their trade will be able to expand on a different level, hiring other players or NPCs to proceed on a higher level, but theres is always the possiblility of a catastrophic loss that will set operations back for month or even years making it necessary to scale back oeprations again.
This should have a couple missiles to deal with 2 or 3 armor and escape.
i wish CIG would release a ship every day, than we would get a STL vid every day :D
I like the idea of a small, compact, solo tank, but I've not seen a need to buy ground vehicles or light fighters, as they're very cheap in-game.
I think the storm looks very cool. But it's very useless. For a scout it should be much smaller or need a interior and special scanning abilities.
With it's size it should have an interior and NEVER a exit to the front. Why not a traditional entrance from above if CIG don't want an interior for it.
And it's way to big for such a little main gun.
I think CIG should equip it with a large gun (maybe S7) and call it a tank destroyer. Like a Ares but as a ground vehicle.
bought one - i might tool around in it for a while, but really bought it as a token...
I have only one question. Does it come in black?
im like 1800 in and i dont need anymore ships/vehichles or spending just SQ42 and a more persistent game, I was an evocati wave 1
Wow its really been a long time since anything's been released
I was tempted. But I think I will pass and just buy it in-game. And maybe it will release with more ground assault combat gameplay content when it does eventually come out.
Ground vehicle $/aUEC ratios make them terrible uses of store credit imo. Maybe for the first patch if you're desperate to try it out whilst it's not in the ingame stores, but as soon as it hits New Deal it's an instant melt.
Bruh, we already know how you feel about ground vehicles. If it don't fly in space and planetside, it ain't worth real money. LOL!
Hell, the only reason the Nova is worth a damn is because you can put 3 of them on top of an 890 Jump and turn it into a battleship. 😆
could have been a ciil apc o well
Seems odd to discuss it when its not usable yet, its all just theory about how well it works.
If you have to decide to buy it now with real money or later ingame a theory discussion is all you can get.
When you wait until it's drive ready you NEVER will geht the actual $/€ price.
When will there be a discord server!
This community is both practical and forward-thinking and I think you ought to put together a community of like-minded individuals
any reason your intro was so heavy in the right channel, and almost none in the left?
Ah yes, a heavy recon vehicle. Truely the game could not have been launched without this.
PU will be ground and space, now if this was holding up SQ42 this late in the game than I would have problem. PU is going to be forever growing and adding new ships and ground stuff.
...ha ha, this is my favourite comment😅
Is it just me or does that autocannon seen awfully unprotected? It feels like you could just blow off the weapon with a well placed infantry launched missile.
this is easy to answer. hell and no. one it is just a concept and not a thing even digitally in game. two you will be able to get in game for about two hours of game time. How much is your real money worth?
Your intro is again in the left channel only.
War thunder player here.
TBH, this thing is a steaming pile of shit.
The comparison I can make here is probably to the German PUMA IFV - a beefy, armored and reasonably nimble vehicle that comes with a relatively strong 30mm autocannon.
The PUMA is built pretty much for the same reasons the Storm is - recon, survivability, bridging the gap between transport and heavy armor.
The difference is that besides the gun and the armor, the PUMA also comes with 2 ATGMs that can destroy tanks, and room for six dismounts plus the original three crewmembers.
The PUMA is also 50% smaller than this massive hunk of polymer.
For starters, the track modules are absolutely massive - it looks like someone saw a T28 Super Heavy Tank - which was an American WW2-era tank destroyer with a 105mm cannon and weighed 100 tons - so much so it needed two sets of tracks to move.
A recon APC/IFV DOES NOT NEED THAT MUCH GROUND PRESSURE.
secondly, the main compartment is massive enough to fit at least a cargo bay, if not a troop compartment - this would also be a wonderful time to place the cabin in such a way that the driver can dismount from the rear of the vehicle.
Lastly, in a theoretical ground-only engagement, this thing would eat shit - being so large and so poorly armed, it's a kill pinata.
The bare minimum CIG could do is add to missile slots for AAM/ATGM purposes - the Nova has 'em and it's like half the size of this shit.
And to conclude this, I would reccomend you look up the Wiesel AWC - a German air-transportable tank (for a very general definition of the word) that features the same capabilities of the Storm, sans the armor perhaps - and you could fit 8 of them in the space taken up by one Storm.
I have a lot of shade to throw at the Nova, but at least it's generaly tank-like, for fucks sake.
Yeah, it is sad the "mini tank" is as wise as the "heavy tank"
It's a shame coz the Storm looks cool as hell.
Should you buy a Storm? Nope. But dang I was tempted. LOL.
Don't bother. It'll be in game for like 15K UEC at a later date.
It really is just a 1x size 3. Which makes it seem drastically underpowered and way too large for what it is.
The point to buying it is to support the game, and beyond that to build your ground fleet for when gameplay supports that or org pvp battles. As a scout tank its role is very clear. Its not a nova tank.
I am going to go back and review your you should not buy in the past and see if your predictions become true in the game
....... n o
Wow, destroyed.
Am I wrong, you sound 'underwhelmed'...?
TO LATE` (I Bought one for my A2)
Wish the stopped making usless vehicles and focus a bit more on the core game , we already have enough for now
3D artist tend to not have a clue about coding so it's a little hard to say, "Well while we work on this other thign, you guys just sit there and do nothing."
@@likeorasgod well still they are directing resources to implement vehicles that add nothing to the game right now
Oh No! You came out with this to late!....I already bought it.... 🤷
nah.
Nope 🔜
Value fo money?
Buy the game to play it. That is value.
Buy more only if you can and want to support the game cause you won’t get any value for things that are free ingame.
(Money value)
The only thing you win by bying more is time spent to get it ingame. So money for time.
Nah. I imagine it'll be cheap in-game.
No, no one should buy ground vehicles for real money. They are over priced.
Why not. The mule was a nice LTI token.....
No you shouldn't buy things that don't exist.
