Season 1 of The Office (US) was only 6 episodes. The remaining of the 9 seasons had 18 to 28 episodes depending on certain airings of sporting events, award shows, etc.
Really excited for you guys to see season two and onward. The show runners made a pivot with Michael Scott’s character because they realized they had to make him more redeemable if they wanted long-term success. It’s really cool to watch his growth over the next several seasons. He’s still a goofball, but he becomes more likable and has flashes where he’s actually good at his job.
The Office almost died after season 1. It wasn't until the episodes were available on iPods and Apple were able to play videos came about and the sales went crazy.
You're partially right. Three things happened that saved the show: 1. Video iPad 2. They got moved to follow My Name Is Earl 3. Steve Carell's 40 Yr Old Virgin became a megahit
Also, Michael was not written as a likable character which made the show relatable but incredibly difficult to watch. In season 2 they decided to write in more empathy and make him more lovably ineffective and only then did the show garnered more interest.
@@CharlieRogers50it’s probably a lot of stuff but that to me makes him a great character really is he does the stuff he does sometimes but is still loveable and is really good as a salesmen so they balance it all. They make sure to add in that he is actually very high level with people skills and yet somehow is also extremely unaware but dossier being childish also often has a lot of heart and cares about others so it makes an interesting character that’s both incompetent and extremely competent and had the best sales record there and unaware and childish but also very good at connecting to people and getting them on his side when he needs to and also believes in himself even when he seems ridiculous.
Its not that season one is bad, so much as in season 2 going forward they took a new direction. Steve Carell got really famous for "The 40 Year Old Virgin" between seasons, so they changed his character to be less mean because that was more on brand for him.
I may be daft for recommending a British show to Brits, but if you haven't seen Detectorists, you should try it. I found it quite charming and funny. 😃
To me the first season is the most “Michael Scott” episodes if that makes sense. He tunes it down and he is less awkward as the show goes on but still very funny. These episodes are more raw.
The only thing you are missing are the deleted scenes from each episode. Most episodes have between 3 to 8 minutes of deleted scenes cut due to timing constraints. Also you should watch the bloopers after each season- it is like an extra episode of the best and funniest bloopers of that season
You should also watch Parks and recreation very similar show that didn't get enough love but it has very high ratings from the critics and the fans the office and parks and rec are some of the best TV shows to be created
They had to make a change to the comedy style in season 2. As well as change Michael a bit. They said the British humor didn’t translate as well to an American audience.
I saw Jerry Seinfeld about a month ago. He did a funny bit about people who tell you how good a series is then goes on to say how bad the first (or 2, 3, 4) seasons are.
Scranton's in northeastern PA and relatively equidistant to Philadelphia and New York City. Due to that and the fact that the city once hosted a Phillies minor league team and currently hosts the Yankees AAA affiliate, most residents are either Yankees or Phillies fans. So, it's entirely likely that Michael, who claims to be a lifelong Scranton resident, is being a contrarian by being a Pirates fan but it sounds a little off-putting for him to say it. Although, that is within Michael's character so there you go.
You guys should react to the old padres braves fight. People say it’s the craziest game of all time because they fought like 7 different times in 1 game.
I dont know if this happens in UK entertainment but there are times where American shows are cancelled but fans of the show build up support and petition to bring the show back. Sometimes it works.
There's nothing 'bad' or really inferior about season 1, it's just what happens with nearly every show with a large cast. It's a lot of characters to build up and then add more elements to and the audience has to get to know them to grasp the personalities first before we can get a lot of the humor, esp. the more nuanced stuff. Big range of personalities btwn. Michael, Dwight, Angela, Kevin, Meredith, Jim, Stanley. The 4th wall breaking aspect, too.
The men of Dunder Mifflin need hobbies, for real. They projected their entire life histories onto Katie as soon as she walked in with her purses. Lolol 😂
The office doesn’t have bad episodes. It’s kind of like if you had a class and your lowest grade was an 80% you would technically have to say that’s the bottom of the class but is it????
I love the American Office but the hardest time I ever laughed continually were from the original British Office...glad to enjoy these shows with you guys!
The very best of the best right here they could never ever ever ever ever ever remake the show in the soft new world we live in it's highly disappointing too because Steve carell absolutely nailed his role.. there's a reason why this went on for nine seasons 😅 I do got to say season 9 should have never been made though
Season 1 ratings were not that good. The show struggled to find an audience. It exploded in popularity during season 2 and became one of the greatest shows.

Really enjoyed watching it with you!! On the note of 'hot girl', do you know who Jim is to Emily Blunt? 😉
S2 is gonna start off with a bang. Can't wait for the reactions, love the commentary between you two gentlemen 🔥
We’ve nearly finished season 2 on Patreon! It’s amazing!

I'm so excited for y'all to start the second season. It's definitely one of my favorite seasons. We get peak Dwight!
We’ve nearly finished it on Patreon 😀
It gets so much funnier! Can't wait to see your reaction!
The Office almost died after season 1. It wasn't until the episodes were available on iPods and Apple were able to play videos came about and the sales went crazy.
Everyone I knew owned season 2 on iTunes
This is so wrong it's hilarious. Do you work for Apple? The show was brought back due to fan demand and petitioning the network.

Good night! Nice to meet some of you!
Funny thing is most people in Scranton are going to be either Phillies fans or Yankee/Mets fans, I don’t think there are many Pirate fans.

I believe the character was changed for the sake of the show, not anything outside the show
Over time he gradually became more endearing.
I’m so excited that Comedy Central just finished their marathon airing of all seasons and are back to the pilot episode so I can watch along with you.
I may be daft for recommending a British show to Brits, but if you haven't seen Detectorists, you should try it. I found it quite charming and funny. 😃
Just sat down with some food and saw the new video was just put up. Good timing lol
Haha enjoy!!
Please we need more of these!

Not sure if you know this but Jim is actually married to Emily Blunt in real life.
Actually Emily Blunt is married to Jon Krasinski
@@AdamPFarnsworth Actually Jon Krazinski is married to Emily Charlton

And I gave the UK Office a shot. 😂
Watched all your season 1 reactions.. i didn't realize I wasn't subscribed. You got me.🎉 see ya for season 2 on youtubes.
You should also watch Parks and recreation very similar show that didn't get enough love but it has very high ratings from the critics and the fans the office and parks and rec are some of the best TV shows to be created
I think there are so few episodes in the first season because the Network was afraid it would flop being it didn't follow standard sitcom formula.
They based all of season 1 on Series 1 of Office UK which only has 6 episodes
@@Timmayytoo I didn't know that

The Office and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia are by far my top 2 American comedy shows
Same Always Sunny is pure genius
I watched the British version of the office and I really liked it. I wish they would have added more seasons.
You guys should react to the old padres braves fight. People say it’s the craziest game of all time because they fought like 7 different times in 1 game.
The, "cow at a bar" line is a reference to overweight women. Not sure if you got that reference.
I'm pretty sure "cow" is a very common pejorative in Britain.

This was one of Amy Adams first acting jobs.
Not even close, it's her 23rd credit in her 6th year of acting.
The men of Dunder Mifflin need hobbies, for real. They projected their entire life histories onto Katie as soon as she walked in with her purses. Lolol 😂
Well they all do that. When the hot salesmen guy comes in the chicks are all over him. And radically more aggressive since Meredith is there.
Loving the reactions boys but at this rate it will be a couple of years until we finish the series… damn
S1 is the short one, 6 episodes. The others have a lot more.
The office doesn’t have bad episodes. It’s kind of like if you had a class and your lowest grade was an 80% you would technically have to say that’s the bottom of the class but is it????
If you're a good looking person, guy or girl, then imo it's on your shoulders to do the approaching.
Pam and her do look very very similar.
I love the American Office but the hardest time I ever laughed continually were from the original British Office...glad to enjoy these shows with you guys!
Yeah they are both great! Glad to have you along for the ride!
The jokes will get worser and wiser lol as the seasons go! It gets funnier and funnier!!

Pam was the worst.
Congrats on making it through the worst season on the US office.
We thought it was great, very easy watch
Hot take
Season 1 is actually my favorite season!
Season 1 is phenomenal lil bro
Once Robert California comes into the series it takes a cliff dive. This is peak office.
