    Hi Everyone,
    Many of my early videos are not HD quality so I've started to upgrade the most popular to this setting...I don't have all the original footage so it will only be certain videos..
    All the very best Davie

    I remember when you first tied this. I worked really hard to duplicate it. I came close but not a real success until I figured out what a darning yarn was that you were using. Thanks for going to the trouble of upgrading. It was great the other way too. All the best to you and yours. Sean

    Thanks a bunch Davie ,
    I have dumped way too cash at the local shops in the last three months ; after watching most of your Tying Videos. I'm they are happy ! Now I need another 9 drawer Cabinet :)
    I will next need to search dying instructions ( I have found some colors are overpriced).
    Thank you for your Talent! !
    Jeff

    I truly believe, one of the GREAT flies. Those I've not left in trees and bushes have caught a lot of fish.

    Hi Davie,
    I have been told the wax ( on your finger )you are using is
    cobblers wax ?. If that is the case , I asume shoe repair shops have the tiny amount I need ?
    Thank you for your Artistic Videos
    Jeff

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  8 років тому

      Hi Jeff,
      I have tried a few versions of wax over the years including cobblers wax but I didn't find it as tacky as the one I use from Veniards..There's many wax recipes out there all slightly different but very close especially in the fly tying world...I would say though the wax we did use originally come from other trades like cobblers or textiles companies that needed to wax their threads to make them stronger, run smoother and last longer when being used...I'm glad you enjoy the videos and the flies I tye...

    Davie, The veniard Osprey hook is not readily available here in the states. What are the substitutes in Tiemco, Daiichi or Mustad. I was forced to use the Tiemco 2457. Is that a good match?. Another Dave

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  7 років тому

      Hi David,
      The Tiemco 2457 would be ideal as most grub shape hooks would give you a nice profile I have also tyed them on straight hooks for fishing in lochs as sometimes you need to work the flies and a straight hook will hook up better...

    Hi Davie, could you tell me what dye you used for the yarn ..... the I used did not come out quite right. Or maybe a dying video? atb Jim

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  7 років тому

      Hi Jim,
      I like to use a Golden Yellow dye from Veniards, though I do like a pale yellow as well so I just add a small amount of the same dye to get this colour...
