You forgot to point the rifle down while picking up the spring loaded tube and seeing your rounds begin to flow out on the ground so you can rapidly jerk the gun to the upright position, sending the last few remaining rounds sailing off into the brush. That's the way I was taught to do it anyway.
SOON! I promise! I will have a 357 Mag video up this weekend for my GP100 and a similar video for the Henry should be coming next week. It's a damn shame this gun has been sitting in the safe for 8 months!
Low left shot placement trajectory is what I also get with my Marlin 1894c/XS ghost ring sights (18.5" bbl/1:16 twist) loaded with my 38 "plinkers" (4.0gr HP-38 under 125 gr moly coated LRNFP (Bear Creek Bullet Supply.)) The trajectory straightens out some with hot 38 and 357 loads, as one would expect, but still tends low left. The moly coating holds up at 357 magnum pistol velocities and pressures one might start to worry about leading soft cast bullets, but I haven't tried them yet with really hot 357 magnum rifle type loads (21gr H110/Win296.) They also seat easily. Not affiliated with Bear Creek, just a very satisfied customer.
As a fairly new reloader with plans to buy a Henry in 38/357 I've been thoroughly enjoying your videos! I lean a little toward the gold version and maybe a Skinner sight. You probably have better eyes than I do. Beautiful rifle there! Thank you for the videos.
Shout out when you get one. I hope by June to get one and I was wondering about reloading. Mostly since I reload 357 for pistol I don't have a crimping die and was wondering if my reloads will need crimping for the Henry. Thanks!
Lensflare Deviant I got it , and love it! For all my 38 spl and .357, I use the Lee factory crimp die. A firm crimp with it does a perfect job. Better than my standard RCBS or Dillon dies. The Lee die and a firm crimp cured an unburned powder condition for me. I'll use it on all my 357 loads. : )
just bought the same thing in the all weather . needed to tap the rear site over was shooting to the right . no problem though . nice to see no problems with those liter 38 loads . thanks . Yes nice rifle for sure
My big boy shot 38 special 130 grain round nose fine. I think they are talking about wad cutters in their warning. You know, the ones that barely come out of the case. Mine shot great out of the box. I was ready to sight it in with a close paper target. Tried the first shot at a gong, got the nice ping! I'm sure the point of impact might change while shooting different ammo. Keep the rifle level while cocking it. My son would can't it to the side so he could watch it feed the next round. The ejecting brass would fall back in the chamber and jam it up.
The feed issue comes with the overall cartridge length. Minimum cartridge length should be 1.54 inches minimum. I verified this with 8 different .38 special ammo brands. The ones that were 1.435 and 1.425 inches long jammed in the magazine.
Great vid, can't wait to see the .357 load ups. Same pull to the left as the pistol, could be anything from sympathetic finger/grip movement on trigger hand to sight alignment...no use trying to give shooting tips over youtube eh lol.
Thanks for going to the trouble of making this video. What I would love to see is having a scope fitted and shot over bench rest conditions just to see how accurate this rifle is.
I love Henry's rifles but I hate how they load. That's I can not buy anymore of there firearms. for a 22LR the tube load is fine but my 45-70 it sucks a**. Why i had to go back to Marlin.
1 - careful with loading that tube fed gun with hammer cocked and your fingers over the muzzle ..............maybe that load wants the rear site peg in the second notch? ....................JRW
158 Grain 38 Special Bullets. Not 357 Magnum Bullets. So it resembles the length of the Magnum bullet. That's the first thing you got wrong. The second thing is written in my other comment. I would not be around this guy with a live weapon.
Hello what has happened 2 accuracy has it gone to the Wayside for profit and production I've been thinking about purchasing another Henry I have an older one that's an absolute tack driver I've been watching many UA-cam videos and 2 inch groups at 50 yards is just unacceptable I think Henry needs to start seriously looking at offering match-grade hand-select barrels that are hand lapped ..
Once I put a scope on the gun I saw around 2" groups at 100 yards with the Hornady XTP, which I found acceptable. You can see the video here: ua-cam.com/video/UiC32voJd4s/v-deo.html
It is an aluminum bronze alloy. The aluminum is mixed in with the copper and other elements. It is basically bronze with enough aluminum added to give it a silver color and increase the strength and corrosion resistance.
I have guns, and they are all steel with polymer and plastic. None of them have wood. I do want that Henry. This would be my most expensive, and least practical gun, yet.
It is not Aluminum alloy. It is solid hardened Brass with a Nickle plating. Why doesn't anyone get the Henry"s right. Their was another video with the Henry Golden Boy who said that the receiver was steel with a brass plating. Again, Solid Hardened Brass. Get it right people. Research from Henry Repeating Arms.
It's an old Design, over 100 years of people claiming the rounds will set each other off in the magazine and not a single account of it ever happening. I'm sure a person could make it happen with modern ultra pointy rounds, but thats not a design issue that's a user issue.
Hey Johnny, aka Doofus, in order to get the bullets to strike higher, adjust the rear sight. It takes all of 45 seconds to adjust. In order to correct for windage, the time is longer but even with average skills you can make the adjustment. "I could not be happier" HUH? It didn't hit the targets. Then it didn't eject several rounds and it fed at least once with a problem. THAT was your fault Johnny, because you used ammunition that Henry told you won't work well. Maybe my bar is set too high, but I like my rifle to feed correctly and then hit what I aim at.
I APPRECIATE your comment. I had been wondering just how much confidence to put in his 125gr 38's. I would like to use lighter for plinking but on your advice Im not gonna invest in any ammo that wont work. I have suspected that length is the problem - the next round intrudes the area of the carrier and of course then it cant rise and with a rimmed cartridge the nose of the bullet on the carrier cant push that next round back up the tube out of the way because the rim hangs it up..
You forgot to point the rifle down while picking up the spring loaded tube and seeing your rounds begin to flow out on the ground so you can rapidly jerk the gun to the upright position, sending the last few remaining rounds sailing off into the brush. That's the way I was taught to do it anyway.
this something i would definetly do if i owned this gun
One of the most beautiful rifles ever built!
yea dude! give us more videos of this gun!!!!!! love this rifle so much

Got mine today Golden big boy. Love it.

I thought I was the only one who launches that loading tube! ;)
just bought the same thing in the all weather . needed to tap the rear site over was shooting to the right . no problem though . nice to see no problems with those liter 38 loads . thanks . Yes nice rifle for sure
Awesome rifle I'd love to get one for myself!

I've had a few problems with mine if I'm to nice to the lever, so long as I don't cycle it slow and keep it upright it cycles the 38 perfectly.
I like the Henry, 357 & 38 spl videos. They are helpful.
What klunking ? We like that sound of the lever action.
how about the sound of it jamming when that weak ejection causes the empty case to stay in the receiver?
Just think if you run out of ammo you can just launch that brass mag tube at your target.
Congratulations on 3000 subscribers.
+bassetthound2008 Thanks!
Congrats on 6000 subscribers.
Congrats on 60k subscribers!
I got to hold one of these the other day beautiful firearms

+Fortus Victus We'll have it on the bench in the next video and find out where it's actually hitting.
I have a big boy in 44 mag love it!
YEP, I just bought a Big Boy 44 Magnum Carbine. LOVE the heck out of it.
You won't be sorry!!! my wife shoots 44 specials.......
Thanks for going to the trouble of making this video. What I would love to see is having a scope fitted and shot over bench rest conditions just to see how accurate this rifle is.
What a good looking rifle!
Great video. Going to check out the .357 Henry now !!
It's a lot more nice with the large loop, a little bit "old style" i mean, and more practfull....with gloves...Very nice gun anyway!
Noticed that you loaded weapon whilst the hammer was in the fire position !
It doesn't make any difference, the chamber is empty.
If you want to do the T2 flip cocking try the Henry Mares Leg. Shorter gun will probably help a lot. :)
Need to adjust the sights
I love Henry's rifles but I hate how they load. That's I can not buy anymore of there firearms. for a 22LR the tube load is fine but my 45-70 it sucks a**. Why i had to go back to Marlin.
curious did you shoot the 38 special that was not recommended? ?the shorter bullets??
TY for the video I think your problem is the large loop
any chance of this gun showing up again anytime soon?
Can we have a update on this rifle in a new video
Did you put the large hoop lever on there?
1 - careful with loading that tube fed gun with hammer cocked and your fingers over the muzzle ..............maybe that load wants the rear site peg in the second notch? ....................JRW
On a empty chamber, its not like it was handed to him and he doesnt know if there's a round in the chamber or not.

Congrats on being an internet gun expert, everybody loves experts. Where are your videos posted?
I want to get one in 44 mag.
I bought a Big Boy Carbine in 44 Magnum. It shoots VERY well. 44 Special seem to shoot higher than the Magnums.
It seems like they soot low to the left
Im from brazil

dont know where ur holding looks like she shooting left u aint kidding about it looking like a toy. Nice....
idk but the use of aluminum in a brass receiver could cause corrosion where the two meet? that's my guess.
It is an aluminum bronze alloy. The aluminum is mixed in with the copper and other elements. It is basically bronze with enough aluminum added to give it a silver color and increase the strength and corrosion resistance.
Galling, 2 aluminum surfaces under pressure can mess each other up and cause the case to get stuck. Same problem with stainless steel.
I have guns, and they are all steel with polymer and plastic. None of them have wood. I do want that Henry. This would be my most expensive, and least practical gun, yet.
Perfectly practical, make great deer rifles out to 100 yards.
Research from Henry Repeating Arms.
i want it in steel
large loop rocks
Me too.. but only with the octi barrel.. all the steel I have looked at are round barrel.. Yes, it's a stupid thing, I admit it..
Weird loading them at an angle allowing the bullet to fall on the bullet below it hitting the primer.... Seems a bad design!
It's an old Design, over 100 years of people claiming the rounds will set each other off in the magazine and not a single account of it ever happening. I'm sure a person could make it happen with modern ultra pointy rounds, but thats not a design issue that's a user issue.
Over 8 pounds unloaded?
The octagon barrel is heavy, makes it a very pleasant gun to fire with fantastic stability.
Weak ejection as on all Henry's...can cause jams

j u better keep ur day job.........................................
You don't know leverguns.
Why did you post this?
Better question. .
Why did I waste my time?
Good luck. ..
