I always look forward to sundays now. Your vids are an escape from the everyday hampster wheel we run .... each and every day..... cheers to the Trip in a van family..
The videos are getting better and better now with cocktails included. We have been in Adels Grove, Lawn hill National Park a few days ago thanks to your video. Now we are at Karumba. Cheers guys
To solder. Put iron on. Put a dobb of solder on. Wiggle iron up and down, do not lift. Then add solder to other side. The solder flow to heat. This is for circuit board repairs.
Hi Justin, Bec and kids another top video, We were just travelling in the same area and were told about notch point being awesome, here's a tip go to the free camp at the Peter Fouce Dam at Proserpine, nice spot nice sunsets, good fishing, awesome scenery. All the best, I wish I had more holiday leave to do more travelling, Regards Paul
Your videos always make me smile. They're like a tonic! Living the dream guys, you all look so happy & sparkling with good health, especially the kids! 😊😊
Wife and I stayed at Notch point in our camper with our dog miss harley quinn before xmas. Beautiful spot for sure. We camped on the slope directly behind where you went spear fishing.
Another ripper ep! Little vid on the basic do's, don'ts, gear to take away and a few basic fishing 'skills etc' wouldn't go astray. Back into the camping life lately and haven't really picked up a rod since the annual family camping trips as a kid. Watching someone who struggles to catch fish tell me what to do would at least give me something to blame when all i catch is my own fingers
Great episode. We look forward to your videos and rewatch them regularly. Would love to see you all spend time in the south West and great Southern of WA more than you did the last lap around. So many awesome places to visit and experience down there. Keep on doing the awesome job you do and we hope to see you on the road or better in the bush sometime in the future.
Also a fire blanket or even a wet tea towel spread over the oil/fat fire to cool and choke the fire out. Never throw water on it as it'll cause it to flare up into a fire ball
@Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series that's true mate. Best time isn't during the school holidays. Aim for 2nd week of Feb to be in the area. Kids are all back at school parents are working etc. Lots of great places though that are quiet you just gotta find them. Steer clear at Christmas I reckon it's quieter in Perth at Christmas and I hate being the city haha
Another great video!! thanks guys.... I mentioned this to you before but Cape Hillsborough is just north of Mackay and has the Kangaroos on the beach. Seaforth is a stones throw away and has great beach area camp ground and a boat ramp. And coconut trees. good ones too!! So much to see and do.... Anyways enough from me!!
Hi guys, great spot and one to put on my list. You mentioned you had a great time a bit windy. Was it you or Bec...hehehe. Keep up the great work, great vids and Im off to your website to check out the book.
What a great spot. So looking forward to our first trip in the new van in a couple of weeks. Just got to pack it with the gear and get a few days off work to take it on it’s maiden voyage shakedown.
Absolutely loved that Justin and Bec . What a top spot that is ! Justin , that was brilliant seeing you give Roo a soldering lesson , the concentration on his face was priceless . It was good to see you deal properly with the oven fire too . If you'd done what a lot of people would do and put water on it , it would've gotten very ugly , very quickly , so well done 👍 Hi from France 🇫🇷 🇦🇺
We came out of there couple of days ago, windy (ok) but then rain and wind, camped on top of the hill , packed up and went out to RV Camping down the road. But have to agree top spot if you get the right weather 👍 love your work- and good on ya Justin, finally some fish 👏👏👏perseverance pays off !!
Hey legends- love ur videos, reminds me of when my parents took me and my two little sisters on a similar trip up north!! Word of advice from a few years ahead of where you are- keep an eye on each other if you ever stop travelling, as soon as we stopped and settled down in Melbourne for school we all drifted apart and we have never been as close as we were for those 6 months. It about 8 years since we settled now, and just a couple weeks ago mum and dad told us they were getting a divorce, dad is moving up into the high country and taking the youngest with him, she started highschool this year. The middle kid is staying in town with mum, and I'll be moving out to join the army as soon as I finish year 12- bit sad but i guess thats how the cookie crumbles!! Look out for each other!!
Hey Guys another great episode. Justin you do a great job at fishing & WOW that fire in the camp oven that was sick. Yeah nice free campsite lowtide fair way out does hightide come right up to where you were camping. Again great episode cant wait till the next one.Cheers
Awesome video as usual, try getting either welding gloves or fire gloves from Bunnings, you could also make a lift for the trivet with some fencing wire
Ya got to try ilbilbi farm stay, $10pn. Great spot beautyfull creek for a family swim, and good Barra hooked up on the reg, just south of the creek when ya get back on the hiway. Top spot.
I’m a firey, fire needs 3 things heat ,oxygen and fuel, ( pork fat).Take any one away and the fire goes out. Bec you were right on the money when you said put the lid on , that removed the oxygen. Keep up the great vids guys👍
Another great video, really appreciate the time you guys put into these, better than any travel show on TV with a huge budget. Love the intro/outro song, would you mind sharing this with us?
My perfect Sunday morning, the sun is shining and having breakie.. Turn on UA-cam and YES.. Another episode of Trip in a van! Thanks guys again for another very nice video🤙
Another great episode. Justin your fishing adventures are the best.... you just keep trying and always enjoy yourself while doing it. What a beautiful part of Australia 🇦🇺 Great cooking tips how good did that pork look and just whip up a cake for dessert love it. Keep on travelling and stay safe 👌🏻😎🌞🐠🐡🦀🍹🍻
Fantastic VLOG guys, bought back a lot of memories,as my uncle ran cattle there for many years, fishing tip Justin, always cast into deeper water for flathead and be aware of your shadow, that can spook them also, and in Queensland, wherever you fishing estuary, creeks with mangroves, always have your 4 crab pots out,to chase mudcrabs,to give you a way to use unwanted fish up as bait in pot?fire needs 3 things for combustion 1= fuel,2= oxygen/air,3= heat,so removing one or more, puts out fire,as you found out,1= succeeded, 2= was intermittent 3= becs idea hosing it off would have removed heat?good to see you keeping your camp oven lid off the dirt?
Loving your videos only started watching not that long ago so been going back threw your videos love them all love the new rig you have i have also gone back over our home videos of our holidays to Exmouth every year
Thanks Guys I was wondering what it was like down there at Notch Point and now I know , much appreciated.......... Great life for the kids , I travelled like that with my folks in the early 70s for 2 years great fun. Keep em coming its great to see Aussies enjoying there own Backyard at the moment
keep the lid on the burning camp oven and eventually the fire will go out. fire needs 3 things to work; ignition, fuel and oxygen, so remove one of those and fire is out. also a fire blanket is good to have. Cheers.
stumbled across your videos, I see your not much of a fisherman but fair dinkum mate ya hooked me. I work in the pilbara on a mine and these vids help me escape for a bit thanks and keep up the good work
I love your videos especially as I'm in Victoria and a basically imprisoned we can't go more than 5k's from home ☹️ Got a tip for you to try when you do a pork roast next - get a baking tray put a layer of salt across the whole bottom of the tray, cooking salt is what I normally use maybe 3 or 4 mm thick and then just put your piece of pork skin side down on the layer of salt and leave it for a few hours this draws all the moisture out and then you get amazing crackling.
Great, great spot.!! We parked up in EXACTLY the same spot on the point, a week & a half ago. Even used that same FirePit !Way too windy to put the boat in....didn't even get it off the roof..!Spent 4 days being pounded by the wind, before we moved to the other, sheltered side for 3 days. No fish, other than a 68cm Flatty off the beach on the open side. Cows are friendly and plentiful and beware of sneaky bloody rocks hiding behind bushes on the way out. You can see 'em on the way IN. Not on the way OUT.....😖🤬. Bent a hinge bar on the Independent Suspension, but all good. Was WELL worth it. On to Mackay. Thanks for the video...👍
Aha good ole Malibu... i remember a drink i had up the snow fields in the 80s .. the drink was called a Malibu Mogul ... it was malibu vodka orange juice and pineapple juice with crushed ice
Great video like always, 1 tip for the camp oven, use folded strips of foil under the cake tin to lift it in and out without burning yourself. Its what I use when making cakes in my pressure cooker. Also I will definitely try your fruits and cake receipe.
G'day Guys Love watching your Channel. Can't wait until we are able to go travelling more, we are just setting up our 4Wd now. We are off to Monkey Mia for a week at the end of the month. but have a lot more planned. Keep the videos coming. Cheers Sarah Troy.
On the soldering iron, have you tried a gas one? Same size as a regular one and you don't have to be near a power source. Mine has its own flick out stand so you wont burn the place down either.
Love your videos, new subscriber... inspired this city bound ex country kid to want to get out and explore again... here's a pro tip for dealing with fire, hook in to a $30 set of FireSlap gloves (or similar) makes dealing with hot handles or the entire camp ovens and bbq trays even hot coals... super easy, barely an inconvenience! keep up the good work!
For a small grease fire like that you should just carry the stove down to the sand and fill it up. This will put the flames out and also transfer heat from the grease to the sand which will stop it reigniting. Dirt isn't as effective due to the organic matter which could also ignite, but if you don't have sand nearby just dig a bit of a hole, place the stove inside, cover it with dirt and wait.
good stuff mate..i know there is bound to be quite a few vids, but have you even done a vid that shows how to fillet the fish ?..and who does that more to the point?..lol
Hey guys, Came across your channel over the weekend and absolutely love it. Been watching all the vids and following you on all the socials. Not sure if anyone suggested it yet but one for you Justin, you can pick up portable gas soldering irons. Awesome. My family had a beach shak right about where your caravan is . 35 years we had our shack there on the point . There were 66 shacks a notchy in total until the government when through and removed them all . ( squatters)
Hey mate, don't know if you'll see this but a couple of tips for ya. If you're gonna cook some cake again, use some pliers to grip onto the lip of the cake tray and pull it out. And the pliers could've helped with the fire as well. Been loving these older vids!😂

To solder. Put iron on. Put a dobb of solder on. Wiggle iron up and down, do not lift. Then add solder to other side. The solder flow to heat. This is for circuit board repairs.

Top Notch episode. Wet tea towel over the top of the camp oven to put out the fire, same way as a chip pan fire. Easy to say whilst watching.
Great vid, kids great, fishing limited, but you will get there, bloody great contact, thanks Justin and Bec.

Great video guys what a great camp site.
On the soldering iron, have you tried a gas one? Same size as a regular one and you don't have to be near a power source. Mine has its own flick out stand so you wont burn the place down either.
