It was a really obscure model, only 1996-1999 and obviously based on the Isuzu Trooper. Only sold in the United States. Basically it was so Acura could sell an SUV before they had the MDX.
As always, this is awesome. It looks like a Mitsubishi Montero/Isuzu Trooper.. I didn't realize the Acura SLX goes back to 1996. Crown King Saloon looks so cool (I'm glad you included the old pic on the wall). Any place that has a sign-in book is OK with me. I'd like a local beer and a cheeseburger with "the works." 😎
@@TysonHugie You DO know that I travel vicariously through you. I first thought we were heading for another installment of the "Junkyard Series" (those are fascinating too). I learned that the Prescott National Forest is made up of 1.25 Million acres, 2,500 miles of roads and was established in 1908. The historic Crown King Saloon & Cafe is the oldest continuously operated Saloon in the state of Arizona and has been open for 110 years. Originally built in the late 1800's, it was moved to its current location in 1906. 😉
This trip looks amazing - exactly the kind of adventure my wife and I enjoy. Absolutely love seeing the SLX being put through its paces. How is it holding up? Any maintenance or repairs planned for it in the near future?
Acura Man - Enjoyed your adventure for a Saturday drive, Is your Acura SLX was that a replica of the 1994 Honda Passport ? I also believe but not sure in 1994 Honda did a partnership with Isuzu with their SUV, a friend of mine owned the Isuzu Rodeo back in the early 90's. The Salon and sites you explored reminded me of old Western movies. Loved your video - Dave from El Paso
I don't think there are any real viable swap options, although Acura did put an RDX 2-liter turbo and SH-AWD into an SLX back in 2019 for a RADwood show vehicle.
Let's goooo, more SLX content. Definitely want one of these to pair with my Vigor. The two forgotten weirdo Acuras
Definitely some very obscure vehicles!
I have one sitting in my driveway!
I am also in phoenix. Ill have to visit crown king one of these days. Thanks for sharing.
It is definitely worth the visit
Great adventure. The SLX proved its worth on those washboard roads. Thanks for the ride along. Oh I will take a cheeseburger please and thanks.
Coming right up!
Amazing scenery! Thanks for sharing these videos for those of us on the east coast who may never get to see this part of Arizona.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful blue sky and clean air!
Very much so!
WOW ! More amazing scenery!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really cool looking place!
It was! Little taste of the Wild West just a couple hours from home.
What a great trip! And a perfect way to enjoy the SLX :)
That's for sure, thanks Charles!
Very nice Tyson!
Thank you!
Love your SLX …..
It's a fun ride - thank you!
Aw yeah !

Watching this from New Zealand. Another amazing video as always. Thanks Tyson.
Hey you bet, thanks for watching!
I thought I knew my cars, but this I never heard off.

Enjoyed watching this fun looking trip. Loved seeing footage of the Saloon etc. Was my eyes deceiving me or is your windshield cracked?
It is! Thanks for watching.

Oh it’s falling apart, haha. I’m thrilled I’ve been able to add about 7,000 miles in the last 5 years with it!!

The SLX is mechanically the same as an Isuzu Trooper
2:09 I notice their crack on your front windshield
Thanks!
Fun video but when do you ever work?😛
Somehow I juggle it all!
If you ever want to go the real way, lmk. We can get your Acura up there going the back way to Crown King.
I do want to. Prob not with this vehicle, haha. I wonder if my F-250 is too long 🤣
Are any of the C or J series engines swappable into the SLX, or is the Isuzu engine reliable enough for that to not be a consideration?
