- The nick-named "Hertiecaster" was predominantly sold in German musical instruments stores in the early 1970s. Plywood body, 4 single coil pickups, maple neck. A variation exists with "only" 3 pickups (rare).
Later in the 1970s, Samick in Korea copied this model, but their models don't have the German carve in the body and have painted headstocks, along with a slightly different controls layout. The most common brand seen on the black headstock is "Star 4T".
Hertie was a mall chain in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s, it is long out of business. There is no actual hard proof that these guitars were sold at Hertie. However, people nicknamed these guitars "Hertiecaster" to mock their owners.
Cool guitar.
hi! i just find the 3 pickup version of this guitar, it said "made in japan" in the back, so i think its original. Im very happy with this. :D
If you like it, you like it. Let nobody else tell you different
Nice Sakai. I just found out recently my #1 player is a Sakai, Teisco-Kawai style. Two pickups, looks like a Jag copy, sounds a bit like an SG with P90s.
Sounds great.
I have this one
4 pick up... The same guitar 🎸.
But l don't have thremol arm... 😔
Nice Collection! I am looking for a Teisco, Sakai style guitar with the same pickups as the Teisco Top twenty. Which guitars in your experience have those same pickups?
Hi Marcus, just check out the store, I have guitars like that regularly. reverb.com/shop/guitars-from-old-europe
Just bought a very similar one with 4 pick ups. I paid $200. Did I pay too much?
It really depends on the condition. If all the parts are there, everything is original and everything works (which is really rarely the case), it is ok. I have not bought a single one over the years on which nothing had to be done. Most of the time, they required extensive work.
its not in tune, probably can not be tuned :)
