Hi Diane. I work at a Panera, so my comment will be loooong, lol! All breads and pastries are made fresh over night from 10pm - 5am. So the cookie, the sandwich bread, and the baguette were all less than a day old. The thing is, the sandwich bread is kept in a plastic bag, while the baguette just sits open to the air. That's on purpose, as they want the sandwich bread soft, but the baguette "crunchy." While Panera is not cheap, it appears that you paid for the food, the delivery, and tip, and got several items so it stands to reason that the cost was fairly high...it would've been a lot less without the delivery as well as the additional tip. Meals at Panera come with either the French bread, a bag of chips, or a whole apple for free as part of the meal. Because you got more than one "meal" you got both the french baguette and the chips (plain salted/unflavored) for free. The soup and mac and cheese are 2 of the most popular items. The mac and cheese is salty because of the cheese used which is a saltier cheese. Black Forest ham is very popular and highly thought of as one of the tastiest types of hams. The dough for the kitchen sink cookie is about double the dough for all the other cookies, so yeah it's giant. You kept referring to the exterior salt as sugar, but you did mention "flaked salt" earlier. The strawberry mint charged lemonade is the most popular of the charged drinks. It's made with agave lemonade, water, and a strawberry mint "juice" that contains the caffeine. I think that is why it tasted "juicy." The whole "killed by Panera charged drinks" is absurd, people need to be self responsible. Anyway, I've VERY glad that you tried out some of the food at the place I work and that you liked it! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed
Hey dumb question but since im here....lol
I just bought a sliced sourdough (classic not rustic) bread loaf today from panera. how long do i have with it before i need to toss it because of mold or staleness?
Thanks for the info! 🎉 🥣🥪
@@DianeJenningsThank YOU for all that you do for all of us!
@@calliemyersbuchanan6458Depends. Panera doesn't put preservatives in their foods, so it won't last as long as, say, Aunt Millie breads bought from the grocery store. Keep it in a plastic container (such as in a bag or in a tupperware type sealed thing,) and it will last longer. Put the bread in the container in the fridge and it will last even longer. I would say though that you probably should try to finish it within 3-4 days, tops, as it will not taste as fresh (maybe not quite stale just not as yummy) after a few days.
This info is good to know.
Diane being blasted eating Panera at 1 am is apparently my new favourite genre. Oh and the singing on the bus 😂
I'm American with Irish heritage, and I put chips/crisps in my sandwiches all the time. I don't think I've learned it from anyone, but it really is the best to have that crunch.
Also want to add I an Latino as well, so if I have spicy pork skins, I'll choose that over chips for my sandwiches
The "they're not known for their bread" killed me. LMAO, never change!
Watching Diane slurp up the drink is like a child having their first caffeinated fizzy drink. I noticed her accent was less mid Atlantic, and more Irish at times.
I laughed at when you said "Black Forest ham is fancy ham!" Diane, don't ever change! Stay weird!
🤪 I don’t even know why that’s funny… Maybe it’s better that way! Glad you enjoyed it
@@DianeJennings It's even funnier when you don't know it's funny😂
American here. We put chips in our sandwiches too. Nothing like a good bologna and chips sandwich. ❤U!
Same
I'm an American as well, and I've never even conceived of putting potato chips into a sandwich, let alone actually doing it.😳
"A bit underwhelming" That's a perfect summation of Panera!
Diane ordered from Panera after going to 3 pubs
She got some pasta and soup in small paper tubs
She added crisps to her sandwich with ham and cheese
The next day she went back: “I want another giant cookie, please”
I’m just guessing what may have happened, it was just a wisecrack
But don’t tell me you didn’t think about actually going back
I absolutely love that you ate the entire cookie. Well done!
Thankee. I was quite proud of myself and a little surprised.
That drunk on cookie look was a Cookie Monster moment! XD
But I ain't one to gossip... .
Today is International Day of Happiness. Thanks Diane for making the Day Happy Joyful. You and Panera food brings lots of joy.
Aww you too Rickey
@@DianeJennings 🕺💃
Listening to you sing on the bus, has me convinced that any children you have are in for a fun experience. 😅
😁
OMG she ate the whole dang cookie. I'm in love.
Fun fact: Panera was founded in St. Louis, MO as St. Louis Bread Company. When they went national they knew St. Louis Bread Company was not as marketable, so they created the name Panera. In St. Louis, it’s still St. Louis Bread Company or “Bread Co” to the locals.
It's still called that but only two stores are left (both in St. Louis) that still have signage and branding using St. Louis Bread Co.
Drunk Diane was very funny doing a food tasting.
Texan here: Kerry Butter is a must! (available everywhere). And I've been putting Nacho Cheese Doritos inside Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches since I was 10 years old. I'm 54 :)
Their Broccoli Cheddar soup is one of my favorite items! Also, if you tipped 20%, that was definitely generous. ❤
I generally don't like recommending people get tipsy but this was one of the best vids for a while.
That cookie puts those nails in perspective.
The baguette is meant to be dipped in the soup.
The mac and cheese is made with white cheddar cheese.
Generally if there’s no specific flavor on the package it just means that they’re plain chips with salt. Also tomato soup is really yummy with grilled cheese for dipping 😊
The best Mac and cheese is.
Baked in the oven with buttered bread crumbs on top.
You'd absolutely love it.
Come to Seattle and go to Beecher's at Pike Place Market and have the best mac & cheese on the planet! You won't think most mac & cheese is pretty much the same after trying it.
I think you'd love Seattle anyway, so much to see and do in Seattle and so many one or two-day trips you can take from there that will blow your mind. We have the ocean and Puget Sound, mountains, so many lovely mountains, one of the few temperate rainforests with amazing old-growth massive trees, and gorgeous islands that are an equally beautiful ferry boat ride away, and that's just a taste of Western Washington.
Yes! Beecher’s! I love their mac ‘n cheese! And their cheese in general. Every year for Christmas I send my BFF since 9th grade and her husband who still live in Michigan where we grew up, a large box of Cosmic Crisp apples, Beecher’s cheddar and their crackers which are perfect with their cheese. I think she would enjoy visiting one of our many Irish pubs, especially Kell’s, the George and Dragon, T.S. McHugh’s, Molly Maquires, the Owl and Thistle, just to name a few.
mmm, I've had that soup in restaurants....yummy
Diane sounds like Eric Cartman when she sings. Love it.
I heard, “Fast Car Doobie Doo, You Gotta Doobie Do” is up for a Grammy…
I love this video and your comments!
I rate Diane's Irishness'ness a 10 out of 10. I think the pub crawl helped.
I think so too ☘️☘️☘️
Slightly tipsy Diane is loads of fun
O drunk Diane trying food
You need to show up more often... We miss you
Hi, Diane!.For delivery, I usually don't do a percentage for tip. Instead I give a minimum of $7 each time, and maximum $10, mainly depending on how far they're coming from.
I really enjoyed this vid. You were relaxed and genuine. ❤
I did some contract work for a couple Au Bon Pain stores back in the 90's. Didn't know they're now Panera. I like Panera. I liked them when they were Au Bon Pain too.
Wednesday Greetings Diane
A lot to unpack. So, I just write about a few things.
Panera in the USA, it is generally overpriced versus most of their competitors, at least by 15%. (at least here in California) Went there just 2 times. NEVER going back.
Cheese Broccoli soup (and mac'n cheese) is known as a "comfort food' in USA. Some people like to add a little bit of black pepper, bacon bits, and / or hot sauce. Also calorie-wise. you could eat (almost) 5 of the cheese broccoli vs 1 sink cookie.
Yes, (depending on the region of the country / family tradition) there are a portion of people that put chips / crips inside the sandwich, but most eat the sandwich and munch on the chips (of choice flavoring) on the side. This is why most delis and sandwiches place {TOGOS, Subway, Jimmy Jonh's, etc.) sell chips in their locations.
Because the 'lemonade' is made with agave sugar, it will tend to 'feel slimy' or a little 'gooey'. Basically, for the price of the drink (or less), you could have bought a 2 Liter bottle of favorite soft drink / juice / Lipton Tea / etc., depending on the store / market it was bought.
Have a good rest of the week!!
She's hammered.
I love their sandwiches and soups.
I can see why
5:51 mmmm my favourite, 🧀🥦 soup in a bread bowl🤤 not only good, but good for your calorie count
You got me with the "European sarcasm".
Drunk eating is the best. Virtually everything tastes good. lol
I put potato chips (crisps) in a peanut butter and honey sandwich sometimes. Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Thank you for riding the CTA where I worked in Strategic Planning for 17 years.
We do put chips/crisps in our sandwiches. I know them as “chipwiches”.
A "Chipwich" Is actually an Ice Cream Sandwich made with chocolate chip cookies
Thanks for trying it Diane!
You are so welcome!
I look forward to seeing visitors to Chicago trying the city's famous deep-dish pizza for the first time. I recommend Gino's East, in case you head back there some day.
Gino’s East is excellent!!! Especially if you like sausage!
We love your version of "Fast Car"!
Happy Weird Wednesday Diane! The other day i saw some sketchy person getting into a neighbor's house. Bad news: It was a burglar, but the Good News is that he owned the place and was just working from home. Boop!
😂😂😂 silly
@DianeJennings I don't put potato chips on all kinds of sandwiches. But they do taste good on peanut butter sandwiches and peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
Today is Bock Beer Day. Traditional bock beers are all-malt brews and are high in malt sweetness. Malt character should be a balance of sweetness and toasted or nut-like malt. “Bock” translates as “goat”!
Editor Diane hitting out of the park on this one! LOL Good show!
We have been eating chips in sandwiches in the U.S since I was a child and I just turned 54.
I used to like Panera years ago...Now it's barely ok, at least the one in my area. I still like Newk's for that type of food/setting.
What’s Newks ‘
Newk's is similar to Panera, but seemed fresher. Too bad they are outta business down here in the south.
@@bert9311 They are both open here. I'm as far south as you can get without being under water lol I'm on the Gulf Coast
Diane, thanks for visiting my town !
Very cute when you are slighty intoxicated !! your inner Irish starts to come out ......... the emoji's only have Harp no Guinness !!!! 🍺
Ms. DJ could give Cookie Monster a run for his money in finishing 🍪 🍪!
I'm not the biggest Panera fan but if that's where we're going, I'm going to eat. And eat well.
Great video Diane. You really are the best!!
When I'm in the mood for Panera, I always get the You Pick Two and get a half sammie (which is as large as a regular sandwich) and a bread bowl soup or salad.
I tip 20% for delivery, based on just the food cost not including tax or delivery charges. Note that Door Dash and similar services have a weird system where drivers don't get the whole tip when you pay through the app. So leave zero tip in the app and tip in cash instead when possible. Drivers will appreciate it!
Now you can go out and hit a few more Irish Pubs
14:31 STAAHHP! It’s just too delicious & I’m thousands of miles from a Panera
One of my favorite things to get at Panera is the French onion soup in a bread bowl with the baguette. If you do it right you can eat the whole thing without touching a spoon.
Oh, definitely yes... put chips inside your sandwich. I do it all the time... yum, yum. 😉
Do the special as it’s cheaper. Half sandwich and a cup of soup/ salad for $7. It’s a steal for that you know especially with inflation being kinda high right now. I usually get the broccoli cheddar soup with a sandwich that looks ok. Just look into the menu.
"Panera" is what they now call "The St. Louis Bread Co." which is the original name of the franchise begun in St. Louis, MO. The name change didn't really change the food thankfully. It's still good. Overpriced (like everything now) but still good. The pastries and actual bread there are great. Most menu items are pretty tasty and the bread-bowls can't be beat and are best when having the brocolli-cheese soup. Don't know if it would hold up if ordered out like Diane did. It's way better in the bread-bowl. Great sourdough bread! And yes, good sourdough bread is chewy be design.
Fun fact. Panera used to be called St. Louis Bread Co. When they changed their name to Panera, the St. Louis residents got made. So they changed it back to St. Louis Bread Co. in the St. Louis area. The locals call it Bread Co.
Love from Chicago.
Im legit addicted to Panera Asiago bread and thier broccoli cheddar soup
Chocolate and Cheese...
I love that album.
Half in the bag Diane! So entertaining. Love your restaurant reviews. By the Way, Red Letter Media has a series called "Half In The Bag" and your reaction to it could be very funny. Give them Hell, Diane.
Yikes, youre just 100 miles away. Smiles for you from central Illinois Diane!!😃🫶
I genuinely enjoyed this episode. You should have a couple of drinks before each one. 🎉 🍺 🍷
Panerai is from St Louis. Here they are called St Louis Bread Company. We here in St Louis like it, but they are considered expensive! Anything from the bakery is stale unless you get it in the morning.
It's the delivery service that gets you.
Great video.
Their Broccoli Cheddar soup is my favorite.
Anything broccoli cheddar is amazing
LOL Diane! This reminds me of going out with my friends after a hard night of drinking in college.
An absolutely fabulous video❤
I am so glad You got to try Panera. Looking at the menu everything looks so good. The flat bread pizza, smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich, Caesar chicken salad, terriaki chicken & broccoli bowl, mac & cheese bread bowl, candy cookies, cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, cinnamon rolls, pastry ring, brownie. Thanks for Giving me a idea what to have for dinner.
OMG, I am so jealous! Looks like there’s lots of other things for me to try next time
@@DianeJennings Right, I want to eat everything on the menu. Looking forward to You trying more good Panera in the future
Panera's Steak and White Cheddar Sandwich and the Brocolli cheddar soup have been my go-to Panera meal for more than a decade. Just amazing.
I need me some Spanish butter!!!
you should lissen to this song from the 80 Jermaine Stewart - Jermaine Stewart - We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off
Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it!
We definitely put potato chips in our Sandwiches.😂
Hi Diane! Did you get a new camera? The resolution in this video is incredible and the lighting isn't half bad.
Give Chewie my love, I love you too, and have a great time until I see you again!
My dad is big into Panera Bread. I myself, I think it's alright. I understand why people like their food. It's just not my first choice normally.
Fair enoughski
Same, and I always wonder why, since bread is my favorite thing
Cool nails! Yes Diane. Baguettes are chewy by design. Typically, Panera costs about $15 to $20 per person. You paid A LOT for delivery.
ED is really on her editing game!
I make my Mac and Cheese with Irish butter....looooooaaddddded with salt and butterfat but the best ever.
"Some people's moms aren't good cooks". Diane pointing her Irish finger right at my mom... not a bad thing...
So, before Panera bread was called Panera it was called St. Louis Bread Company. Being from St. Louis myself I've been frequenting Panera in all it's forms as long as I can remember. Glad ot see you enjoyed it.
it was fun to eat dinner with you today , I put potato chips on my sandwiches also. I liked this video very much one of your best thanks for the cracky time
Your videos always make my day brighter! 😊
That siren sounded like a firetruck.
Yes, the air horns in particular.
As A kid, i ate peanut butter ,sliced bannana and crushed potatoe chips on a sandwich which i really enjoyed.
I had a tuna fish sandwich today and used the last of my chips to put inside.
Woh, after downing that monster cookie, you won't have to eat again until tomorrow morning.😁
I would recommend that you get the cinnamon crunch bagels, toasted with a smear of hazelnut-creamcheese.
12:20 Been doing that since the 80s here in the US. :)
if I'm on the road, I'll try to find a Panera instead of going to all the other burger and fries fast food. A cup of soup and a greek half salad is just light enough but filling.
