ED is off her game today. She forgot to put the link to the brand new merch store on screen: diane-jennings-shop.fourthwall.com/en-eur/
ED must have done it intentionally as a protest for not getting a cake shake.
The new merch shop is great! Particularly love the Chewy for President clothes!
ED also forgot to update "the description text just below..."
But I beg forgiveness in advance of her wrath...
Where is Lenny?
fun fact, the reason why we don't call it a frankfurter is because of WWI. it sounded too german.
I am from Chicago but moved in 2015. I miss Italian beefs and other Chicago food faves. I miss Chicago.
Portillos said it delivers nationwide… So maybe you could get a hook up from them?
@@DianeJennings My friend actually did send me an Italian Beef kit from Portillo's in 2018. :)
Always welcomed back
Yep, some real beefs. cheesy beefs, hot peppers. Real Pizza! Combos! Giros!
Former southwest side, previously from northwest west side, now Hoffman Estates.Johnnies on North avenue,Chickies on Mannheim and Roosevelt,Paradise Pup near Rosemont.I am slowly like Tillos
Shoulda gotten a Chicago Style Dog and Fries with the cheese dip. Whoever told you to get a chili dog is confused. Need Gjardinaera on the beef Sandwhich also.
That's what i was thinking i didn't know Portillo's has a chilli dog or chilli either, and i got a portilos a block away.
I only get chili dogs from portillo's 🤷♂️🤷♂️ much better chicago dog spots
You gotta get the Italian beef with extra hot peppers, dipped! Thats real Chicago style!
Diane does a Chicago-accent 6:03 😮😂
Haha! It was pretty accurate too!
Ohhhh, that Italian beef sandwich looks heavenly!!!!! 🤤🤤🤤x
It was ever so dreamy
One of the Best in Chi cauw go.
Thinking it looks exactly like a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, guess this is the Italian version.
@@bkm2797Italian beef is older than the cheesesteak and is different. Italian spiced roasted beef sliced paper thin topped with roasted green bell peppers and/or hot giardinera.
Cheesesteak is thinly sliced raw meat grilled and chopped on a flat top.
Thank you for clarification on the difference regarding the meat. The rest you can pretty much say are the same imho, peppers, cheese, onions. Cheers
As you 1st took of your sip of Cake in a Shake, the look on your face showed us the the Angels sang out in praise! ❤
For tourists what makes Portillo's so special is that you can get all the Chicago sandwich staples in one place. An Italian Beef, Chicago Hot Dog, Charred Polish Sausage or a Beef & Cheddar Croissant...and even BBQ Ribs and a phenomenal char-broiled Burger (which I would put up against Whataburger and In & Out any day) 😏 And yes their Chocolate Cake (or Cake Shake) is incredible too. They now have Portillo's restaurants in Florida, Arizona and California. Funny thing is this Chicago downtown location on LaSalle is the weakest of the bunch (it's way too busy and they rush the food out). And they serve beer too 😉
Yeah Portillo's is an institution and you can't beat their Cake Shake (although Ted Drew's concrete (which is a frozen custard) from St. Louis is a good competitor. As for burgers, they do make good burgers but I would never order one at Portillo's. I actually think Shake Shack and Culver's Butterburger are the best burgers for any chain - but you can't beat the hot dog or the sandwiches. As for barbecue, skip Portillo's and go to one of the many great BBQ joints in Chitown - like Green Street, Earl's or Smoque (I love the wings from County Barbecue). Of course the sides at Portillo's are second to none - I'm really craving cheese fries (and cheese on the beef).
Don’t forget the pepper and egg sandwich during Lent! All great hotdog/beef joints in the city and ‘burbs offer that one.
Portillo's burgers are seriously underrated.
@@BH6242KCh Agreed. I'm a burger connoisseur. Portillo's burgers are awesome for a chain. Also, the cheeseburger at "The Loyalist" (177 N Ada) is phenomenal (once rated the best in the USA). And "Au Cheval" is still decent but overpriced.
@@BH6242KCh holy shit yeah. I tell anyone going to portillos, if you like a char broiled burger, portillos has the best in the business
I highly recommend getting the beef dipped next time. It takes it to a whole new level. It doesn't make the bread mushy like you would think either. Even after a 20 minute ride home for me it still holds up well. I had one for dinner tonight.
Yeah, but she was picking the peppers off the sandwich. Peppers complete the beef sandwich trinity (with beef and onions); Philly cheesesteak uses the same combination, except in Philadelphia, the cheese is not optional. She should have bucked up her courage and eaten the peppers, at least for science ☹
In the San Francisco area for over 100 years, we've had our own stripped-down version of a beef sandwich on a roll: The "French dip", with sliced roast beef on a local sourdough roll, dipped into the jus. The traditional condiments are spicy mustard, horseradish and a dill pickle wedge; sides are potato salad and coleslaw. There are a couple of restaurants in Los Angeles that claim to have invented it before the First World War. Even if they're not straight-up liars (which I say they are), their product is obviously inferior because it doesn't use Bay Area sourdough rolls.
Yes🎉 we stip and eat there's one in saint Paul Minnesota❤
I agree you need to dip it, but how can you say it doesn't get mushy? Of course it does. That's part of the beauty of it, the sloppy deliciousness!
@@aquilapetram I thought an Italian beef came with giardiniera to give it a kick? Never been to Chicago but that's how I've had it around here. And ALWAYS dipped. (double dip if you're feeling saucy and plan on eating it right away)
@tonyragsdale3066 Ya KILLIN me. I used to live in Chicago but haven't been to visit even for years now.
I live somewhere with generally great food, but of course you miss things from other places you lived and what I miss most often is Italian beef.
I knew this video was gonna make me a little sad but I couldn't resist. 😥😁
I ALWAYS get dipped, too. Who doesn't? Everyone I know asks for dipped or SOAKED. 😂 Man, I'm hungry now. ❤
"How does America come up with something like a chocolate cake shake?" Cheerful madness, ma'am!
Portillos is 100% a favorite around here. Chicago has so much good food everywhere. I can't imagine moving anywhere and not getting to eat the food here. Although it would probably be better for my health if I did.
I'm in the greater Detroit area and a Portillo's is being built ten minutes from my house. I could be in big trouble. Love that place!
There's one on Hall Road in Macomb right now, but that's the only location in Michigan for now.
Italian beef sweet! Pure ambrosia! A buddy of mine and I used them to bribe the guys on the receiving dock we were delivering to. It was a Union dock. We parked the trucks at a Sam's Club in the suburbs in Chicago and he watched the trucks while I crossed North Ave on foot. I bought 8 of them. 1 each for us and 6 for the guys on the dock. Needless to say, they were so appreciative we both got unloaded 3 hours BEFORE our appointments!
Sweet with giardiniera mmm
North Avenue, hmm. Northlake, Villa Park or Glendale Heights?
@@justmehere6094 Northlake. We parked at the Sam's because they new us as we delivered there regularly but were delivering somewhere else that night. I told the receiving clerk at Sam's our plan. He laughed and said it was cool.
@@billiamnotbob I used to go there for lunch when I worked off of 41, pre coof
@@justmehere6094 Yep. My pal and I stopped there a few times, usually about an hour before close.
You are in Chicago and FAILED to order a Chicago Dog? U guys failed this woman!
Seriously!!!!!
‘It’s messy”… stop trying to be cute and Dig In!!
Seriously
"I'm gonna try a "Chicago dog"" Orders a chilly dog, derp!
To be fair, she has said on multiple occasions (including this very video) that she doesn't like pickle or "spicy", so she's not going to like mustard, relish, sport peppers or a dill pickle spear on her dog, which, frankly, is her loss! And... NO CHEESE FRIES??!!
Gene and Judes for a Chicago style dog. Many great beef places Mr. Beef on Orleans, Jonny’s on North ave. Al’s on Taylor, Novi’s in Berwyn, Chickies in Hillside, Buona and many others. The beef at most is almost the same it’s the giardiniera ,sweet peppers and bread which make each place taste different. They’re all very good.
That place is so great too
Im not from Chicago but I am from Illinois. Happy to see you visiting our state! Hope you have a great time here 😁
3:32 locals are definitely a good sign, my Mom reckons you can pick a good local restaurant if there’s cops eating there
Portillio's is a chain place, People growing up in Chicago before Portillio's even existed know that there are MANY little neighborhood hot dog and beef stands that are better--or at least just as good as Portillio's. But really. almost any Italian beef is great.
Or they feed the police free
@@kendallsmith1458 😂
I feel like Portillo's food quality dipped when they started expanding, HOWEVER the cake shake is always 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story of most franchised places. Try so hard to upscale and be consistent standardize everything and use other distributors and they actually lose consistency.
Once Dick sold, the beef sandwiches got reduced by by 20% in size and 30% in meat. Truly sad.
I've long been removed from Chitown. But even back in the day, I was and remain a fan of the mom-n-pop joints over the chains. More earthy.
They are overpriced.
I love getting Portillo’s every time I’m in Chicago. I like to get the Italian beef with mozzarella dipped with extra gravy on the side, onion rings with cheese sauce, and a chocolate malt.
I usually get my portillo's italian beef dipped, where they take the entire sandwich and dunk it into the gravy. You definitely need to eat it out of the wrapper that way, or you'll get covered!
Baptized
This is the only way.
I'm from Illinois and spent every summer in Chicago with lots of family living there. I live in the DFW area if Texas and it was like Heaven came to Texas when we got a Potillos
You can also get it half dipped or with au jus on the side. She seems like she’d like it on the side, imo.
eff that. i just get a beef n cheddar dry and its still too wet.
The most genuine face of sublime euphoria I've ever seen after tasting that chocolate cake shake. 😄👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Would be fun for you to check out a comedy clip of Fluffy talking about his experience trying it for the first time.
Portillo's Italian Beef is definitely a must try. But the Combo Sandwich is the master stroke. Italian sausage in an Italia beef. Chicago Dog with everything, should have had that. OR a polish dog.
Shoulda gotten a Chicago dog as well. Love that you're in Chicago though. Can't wait to see the other Chicago videos.
I actually cried laughing when she ate the chili dog like a normal dog, instead of using a fork. 🤣 She would have been better off with a normal Chicago dog. At least she got the poppy seed bun. The hot/wet Beef is to die for, either on the french bread or Croissant with cheddar. On toasted Garlic bread smothered with Mozz, is my fav.
Portillo’s is the chain version of Chicago street food. Talk to locals and they’ll all name an alternative. I only take out of town guests to Portillo’s. My favorite is Scotty’s in Round Lake, IL.
Yeah this is more of a tourist deal or suburban thing since they’re less saturated with corner hot dog spots
Hey Diane.....This episode was too damn cute!!! Have a great rest of your vacation!!!
Ha, my daughter's college graduation was on the Navy Pier!! At the very end there is a large hall over looking the lake - it was beautiful!!
It's not good if it's not messy! That's what napkins are for!!
Diane those Italian beef sandwiches used to be served on Gonnella bread which was also a big Chicago thing. Don’t know if Portillos still uses it. Great vid and glad you appreciated the flavor !❤️
Yes Portillos still uses Bonnella bread!
Sounds great! I’m not sure what the bread was… Other than delicious
Pretty sure they use Turano French rolls.
Unfortunately, Gonella doesn't make fresh rolls anymore, only frozen rolls; so Portillos had to switch to a different brand.
Thank goodness Turano is very similar.
It's really gonna mess with Diane's mind when she finds out that Portillos uses mayonnaise as an ingredient in their chocolate cake and its AWESOME! 👀😆
My mouth is watering watching you eat at Portillo's.
I miss portillo's so much. The Ribs, the shakes, the everything on the menu
Whoever designed the interior of that place has great taste. It feels so welcoming and fun at the same time.
Diane, I'm glad you had fun in Chicago. We go to Portillo's all the time. I love the Italian Beef sandwiches. My youngest brother lives in California and whenever he comes home, to Aurora, (IL) he ALWAYS stops at Portillo's. They have one in California, but it's not close to him. He has gone to that one, too.
That's one of My favorite sandwiches on the planet. The bread turns to a savory pudding with a chewy crust. I've taken co-workers there when on business, always make a fan or two.
No pickles don't go in fajitas. 😂😂 Fajitas have bell peppers and onions.
Never been to Chicago but I've seen videos of Portillos on Food Network and the food looks amazing.
2 words: Cheese Fries. The absolute best anywhere in the world (and you use half of the cheese to put on your Italian beef).
Pickled peppers are part of a sort of Mexican relish plate, along with other pickled vegetables and raw radishes; I suppose one could put those pickles into a fajita, although I've never seen it done. I think the peppers are pickled in salt brine, rather than vinegar.
But no, a pickled cucumber definitely doesn't go in fajitas. And what our proprietress was picking out of her sandwich was some kind of pepper, which she should definitely have just eaten, like a good sport. You have to taste new food on the terms under which it's presented, or else you don't really know what it's supposed to taste like.
@@aquilapetramI hadn’t thought about the gardineira style peppers/veggies. You’re so right. That might be what she’s talking about.
Diane, I didn't realize you were in Chicago on your visit here. Believe it or not, I only live about 1.5 hrs. NW of there on I-90 near Wisconsin.
Within the last 5 + years, Portillo's expanded to my city, and has been a real hit here as well.
One last factoid for you: do you know that Chicago is the world's 2nd. largest Polish city after Warsaw, as well as substantial populations of Assyrian, Bosnian, Croatian, Kyrgyz, Lithuanian, and Tanzanian?
So proud of you Diane for trying a Chili dog, you are expanding your horizons and that's a good thing. Thanks for the review, looks like you are having a good time in The Windy City🌬
It's a good hotdog, but not the right one to order in Chicago lol
@@Vortex1988 for real! why not order the CHICAGO STYLE HOT DOG??
The Italian beef is my go to. You can get it dipped or dry. I usually just get it dry with a cup of the gravy on the side. That way I can still get the dipped flavor without it falling apart in my hands as I am eating it.
Their burgers are actually pretty good too.
My dad grew up in Chicago and even worked at Portillo's when he was younger. We live in Ohio now and he misses it so much so we have it shipped to him for Christmas and his birthday.
Portillo's is awesome! Surprised that you went with a chili dog! Chicago is most known for the Chicago dog which is a hot dog with mustard, onions, sport pepper, tomatoes, and celery salt (some places do it a little different). You definitely need to have a Chicago dog and for pizza you definitely need to go to Pequod's!! Hope you enjoy your time in my favorite city!
Pequod's makes Detroit-style pizza so why not have it in Chicago.
I went to school with Mike Portillo great family, nice people! Hi Mike it’s me Darryl and Dan G says hi too!!! Love Portillo’s!!!
Love your videos helps me escape my mental issues. Keep doing them plz!
I am a Chicago native, I LOVE italian beefs! I always get it dipped with sweet peppers (I don't like the giardinara, that's what was giving you the spice). I moved and lived in the UK for 6 years, I was missing the Chicago food.
I missed the Chicago pizza for about 4 years after I moved. Much longer pining for a Portillo's.
My brother in law had it shipped to him frozen and we had it for Christmas one year.
I’ve had Portillo’s sent to me in California. A whole chocolate cake all to myself! It was so fresh and good, although you do have to ensemble it yourself (frost it with the enclosed frosting). I love Portillo’s! I love their Italian beef sandwiches. And their fries too
I was in the glass bottomed carriage when I got engaged! My now husband chose this even though he's def a bit afraid of heights :P
It's easy! Take two sweet things and mash them together! If they rhyme...even better!🍰🥤
If you were at Portillos at a lunch time rush, there are times the line might be out the door. (Well, depends on which Portillos location you go to, but lunch time rush at Portillos can be NUTS).
I think I did well so
This video had me craving Portillo's so bad! The messy chili dog, the loaded Italian beef sandwich, and that chocolate cake shake are calling my name. Your reactions had me smiling and drooling at the same time. Can't wait for the next one!
Such a dainty dainty bite in that Italian beef. ❤️ Three bites equals a normal portillos fan! lol. And to compare it to Arby’s? Look. I love LOVE Arby’s but I CRIED the first time I had an Italian beef at Portillos. Can’t say the same for Arby’s.
THIS HUMAN IS SO ADORABLE! 🥰
Well, damn. I had no idea you were in Chicago. Been watching you off and on for years and I work just a few blocks from there. Glad you enjoyed your visit!
I grew up eating Italian beef (grew up in the Chicago area), and I haven't had it since I moved South. It needs to be introduced in more areas. It's so good.
I don't really care for veggies but I want a Chicago dog and Italian beef right now. Immediately.
The show THE BEAR has been making me want an Italian Beef SO BAD!!!
Their Strawberry Shortcake is also wonderful!
What makes it even better is that practically no one else in the area offers that on the dessert menu, especially not any drive thrus. For someone who will take something fruity over chocolate-y any day, it’s my favorite take-out dessert.
I agree! It’s delicious!
Ooo... Portillo's Italian beef is one of my fav's. It was a must whenever I visited Chicago... but now they opened a Portillo's here in northern Indiana so I can get it on a whim.
Oh my what a shock - Diane liked the chocolate cake in a shake ❤ that initial taste and the look on her face was priceless
Good choices. If you go back, you need to try the Polish sausage Maxwell Street style. It's a grilled Polish sausage on a hotdog bun with mustard and grilled onions. It's amazing!
Portillo’s is a restaurant chain. Mom and pop places are always the best.
Started off as mom and pop... but so good it expanded.
Portillo's was family owned for most of its existence. The Portillo's family were neighbors of my ex-husband when they first started out.
You should have gotten the polish with grilled onions. Or the classic big beef, dipped, with giardinera.
OR a combo, which is a beef with an italian sausage in the bun with the beef. Mmm
The Maxwell Street Polish is the unsung hero of the Portillo's menu. It's so much better than a hot dog.
Wishing you, chew, mama and papa Jennings a good Easter! 🐰
And the editor as well!
Thanks! One chocolate egg eaten already 😉
I'm so glad you got to try our beloved Portillos! Seriously, it's legendary
I've lived here my whole life and the cake shake is the most genius creation ever lol
And go ahead and toss some ketchup on that dog - forget the haters, ketchup is pretty good on an all beef Chicago dog
Exactly!
So good! Next time
Omg 🤦
There were no Chicago hotdogs in this video, and absolutely no ketchup belongs on a Chicago hotdog. There is only one Chicago hotdog, and it's an all beef frankfurter on a poppyseed bun with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, neon green relish, tomato slices, pickled sport peppers, a dill pickle spear, and celery salt. If it doesn't have those ingredients, then it's not a Chicago dog; it's just a hotdog you can have literally anywhere else in the country.
@Vortex1988 "wait! I know how to make sure people NEVER want to visit my city!" 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
The reason you don't need ketchup on a Chicago Dog is because you already have tomato wedges.
But, personally, I don't put ketchup on any hot dog. I prefer mustard and onions on mine.
That beef sandwich! My favorite! Sweet peppers I hope. Cool Diane enjoy!
Thanks Diane! There are no locations in Canada so this was new to me. I would have been tempted to use cutlery for some of it 😱. The shake sounds awesome. Enjoy your Easter weekend!
I love your food videos. They’re the best.
Glad you like them!
You definately have to have the Italian beef "dipped" ! You can have them dip the entire beef dipped in gravy or you can ask for a side of gravy and either dip the beef into the gravy before each bite or pour the gravy onto the beef. My preference is to have them dip it into the gravy when they are preparing it. Don't wory about the bread getting soggy, it will hold up.
Portillo’s is the best! Buona Italian beef is really good too. Lots of other great Italian beef places here in Chicagoland. Luke’s up here in the burbs has great Italian beef too. No pickles in fajitas. Glad you liked Portillo’s. Chicago is a tremendous food city.
Chicken-in-a-car-and-the-car-won't-go?! I haven't heard that since my granddad told it to me almost 40 years ago!
An Irish woman gave me a genius idea for how my day's gone. In Irish slang: "My brain isn't braining".
Haha, I have narcolepsy and I say “ I can’t brain right now or my brain isn’t braining!” I’m so glad I’m not the only one!
@@naomirg8273 That's funny. ("I can't brain right now").
You didn’t get a Chicago style hot dog “drug through the garden?” It’s so good.
And yes, we call them franks sometimes. Almost nobody calls them frankfurters, but most people would probably know what you mean.
Oh, also, when you get an Italian beef, you should get it dipped (literally dipped in au jus), half-wet or half dipped, OR with au jus on the side. You seem like you’d like it on the side - a little less messy… but getting it dipped is heavenly, and super messy.
I love, Love, LOVE chili dogs. It's a staple in my diet lol 😋

a month later and we're still waiting on what did you order at Chicago dog place. smh.

Diane, you should check out the video where comedian Gabriel Iglesias (aka "Fluffy") tries Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake for the first time. Look for the video "Fluffy Tries Portillos Chocolate Cake Shake," it'll have you rolling on the floor. 😄
I'm from the suburbs near Chicago, but will be moving to east Tennessee soon. I'm gonna miss Portillo's so much.

If you want your beef to drip, you order it baptized. You can get it as wet as you like depending on how you order it.
I get to watch this on a weekly basis. I live in Chicago and work with race horses. We get tons of Irish grooms and trainers that come to town for a few days at a time. When a new groom lands here, the lads who’ve been here for a while always take the newbies to Portillo’s for their first taste of food in America.
Oh my gosh, I was born in Chicago and raised in the Chicago area. Still live there to this day, and I have never been to Navy pier. At least not since it became an actual attraction. I was there once in the 80s when it was just an empty slab of concrete to watch the fireworks on Fourth of July. Grant Park was just too damn crowded.
It was good fun! I went early in the morning, and there were no crowds. The market inside was pretty cool too
@@DianeJennings No crowds cause everyone left for spring break and the rest are at work. NP super touristy. I don't think I even stepped foot over there til I was 25 or somethin'.
I remember(early 70s) when Navy Pier had a gym.Now it is the biggest ripoff Chicago has.
@@Thom1560 I wish I had known she'd be in, I'd tell her where you can get real deals on good food, cash only.
@@Thom1560 Yeah I was there as well. My dad was born and raised in Chicago. We drove into the city one weekend to the pier and parked on some side street and walked to some ethnic fair. It was crazy, there would be a section for each country of the world the farther down the pier you walked. I really think they were still unloading ships also. The place was falling apart. A few years later Jane Burne created Chicago Fest, which turned into taste of Chicago. I went to that first Chicago Fest. RIP 97.9 WLUP The Loop.
So a little more info, Portillos was at first mainly distributed and spread around the state of Illinois but recently the chain has come into states like California, Minnesota, Arizona etc but what you should know about the restaurant itself is, Dick Portillo favored mostly early 1900s decor and theme. Almost all of them have a layout of you walking back time to old decades and original Chicago hot dog times. The best 1930s-40s intricate one with the most amazing decorations, souvenirs, pictures, a huge truck, and old school 1930s music is in Niles illinois. Just North right outside Chicago. The one in Rolling meadows has a 60 and 70s diner with a jukebox vibe that is amazing for anybody the loves Grease and Happy Days. The one in Elmhurt Illinois has the most cool old school looking building that resembles the 60s_70s diner and rock music theme look. Every Portillos is similair for its time period decore but each one also offers something unique to that location for you to love and enjoy for the scenery. Dick Portillo was all about the food, scenery and going back in time with your delorean. This restaurant chain makes it a favorite in illinois/Chicago and a cultural staple with the people. Try the burgers next time. Amazing
Ooooopsy release! Lol. Great video Diane! Made me hungry. Glad you enjoyed the shake.
Sorry! I made a mistake… Glad you enjoyed it though.
the whole time you were drinking the shake i was thinking "just wait until she gets to the bottom and realizes there is a chunk of cake lining the bottom of the cup"
This would be SUCH an enjoyable date! (Hey, a guy can dream) I can imagine it would just be such an enjoyable anything with milady, so full of joy and character! Cheers on this and the Panera reaction, all of them, always tip top entertaining!
Dick Portillo's first stand was in Addison, Illinois, which is a suburb northwest of Chicago. Also, the chocolate cake (just cake, no shake) is ridiculously good.
Some Portillo's drive-thru locations get so busy during rush hour they have traffic cops to manage the overflow on the street.
That was fun!
The lighting in Portillo’s treated you well, Diane. Hella cute.
Currently building one to outside Detroit a couple miles from my house excited.
I love Portillos. Eat there all the time. Good stuff
Italian beef with sweet peppers and mozzarella, dipped. Absolutely delicious. I hope they keep expanding in other states. I rarely exit the airports in Chicago and have only ever had Portillo's in California. (and would totally frequent them if they were closer)
A Chicago hot dog has mustard, chopped raw onion, bright green relish, with tomato wedges, or sport peppers being optional. It is dusted with celery salt and served with a dill pickle spear. What you had as a hot dog is a coney dog which originated in New York.
Welcome to Chicago! Hope you had or are having a good time!
Chili-dogs are great...but it's the Michigan style dog for me! Or a Polish sausage topped with mustard!🌭
"Everything on it" is the Chicago way 😀Glad you got to try some Chicago food. There's more from where that came from.
Oooooh yeah 🤤
All she was missing is a slice of Deep Dish Chicago style Pizza.
The hot dogs with the poppyseed buns is a classic Chicago touch and I think the dogs there are all beef, which is common for a Chicago dog..
needs plochmans mustard too
Yes, but it's not a Chicago dog unless you drag it through the garden.
WHO told you to get a Chillie Hot Dog? You SHOULD have ordered a "Chicago Hot Dog"
SHOULD is a dirty word. The viewers on my live stream recommended it when I was asking for recommendations… Were you there? Did you recommend the alternative? 😜
@@DianeJennings As long as you didn't put ketchup on yer fine. Ketchup and hotdog slices is what they give to little kids. :P

Happy Friday Diane! I've never been to Portillos. Maybe next time I visit Chicago. Have a great weekend!
Me neither, but I suggest the cake shake to her and I suggested it to Shaun and he tried it, too
Thank you! You too! I highly recommend. It won’t break your bank either.
Portillo's is a Chicago legend. Try the Chicago hot dog and their charred burgers are phenomenal. Portillo's is basically an "indoor tailgate party" 😏
I am from Chicago and when I visit always eat lunch at Portillo’s. I moved to Minnesota a number of years ago and Portillo’s finally opened up a couple places in the Twin Cities about 10 years ago. When I am in the Twin Cities area I try to eat lunch there. There is no better place for a hot dog.
Ohhh. It was the Ferris Wheel!
That makes sense.
Did you know the first Ferris wheel was invented in Chicago?
Named after the inventor George Ferris.
It was on The Midway east of Cottage Grove for the 1893 world’s fair!
No way! Was it that one??
@@DianeJenningsBtw, don't forget the giant Ferris wheel in Paris - the Roue de Paris - and if you can ever afford it the GIGANTIC Ferris wheel in Dubai - 820 feet (250 meters) high.
@@DianeJennings No, the original was a lot bigger than the Navy Pier version, and was torn down soon after the fair ended in 1894.
