Dune deserves a community like LOTR has, they give two different sides of fantasy.

@@Tmesis___19 Depends on how you define sci-fi and fantasy. For me it's fantasy because its focus is characters and people which represent greater ideas interacting with each other with a moral conclusion. In this definition LOTR and Dune are the same genre.

It’s ironic how Frank Herbert criticized StarWars for copying his work. Yet!!!! Here we are 😂

Love the information on the mandala. Any way you could share how you laid that out? How the characters fit in? What does that look like?

Don't know why the alogarithm gods placed you on my feed but I'm glad.
I'm always on the search for Dune content.

Great dissection and thank you for doing the initial groundwork. I really do believe that Carl Jung's work has had a major impact on many prominent writers but I did not know how involved CG Jung was in Frank Herbert's writing methodology. I immediately could tell though from the amount of psychological form that Frank Herbert must've studied CG Jung extensively. Archetypes are the framework upon which all great writers build. Some may even call it the Logos or Muse. Seriously great video. I subscribed!

Is there a second part to this?
You entirely missed Butler's Erewhon! The book which gave Dune's jihad it's name.

Eerewhon should be on the list of Dune lovers who want a peek into Herbert's inspiration.
It gives him the ideas of
      Machine crusade
      Preborn
      Fate of the Prescient
      It's a good time.

You are super super duper intelligent and insightful. I just wish you would spend more time on your plan and voice delivery with the UA-cam videos as well. Then channel would probably grow more. Some of your ideas are unfinished and need more clarification

I found your your channel a couple of weeks ago due to your Cormac McCarthy content.
I just finished dune for my third time, and here I find you again. Did I see Tom Robbins content also?
    You have amazing taste.
Look forward to more dune content!
I can’t find anything on tarots influence on Herbert. Any ideas?

I can't find anything either! But, he probably was exposed to the Thoth deck and what not because Crowley was big during his younger years

Chaucer! I can, have and will again write on how heavily influenced by Chaucer Herbert was. He made it explicit in the third book even.

The connection is mostly connected to the hadiths of Islam. But the crazy part is that Leto most resembles Yeshua (jesus) which will Rule for 1000 years after the Mahdis 7 year rule. Then a new earth. Amazing future prediction of Abrahamic prophecy. Leto is a mirror of Yeshua. Except the end will be better than Herbert's version.
