Thank you so much for this idea! I was going for something similar, but was perplexed on what to use. Packing tape worked perfectly. I had this happen to 2 batteries in 2 days...you saved me a lot of money and rescued me from a massive headache.
Awesome! This video was so helpful in so many ways. Without screwing into your battery, I was able to take the SD card out, and that space gave me the space to pull the battery out with needle nose pliers.
Excellent Idea - I threw one battery away for doing this. then it happened on another and thought I would Google it and your video popped up. I tried it just now and it appears to work, don't have any run time but don't see why it won't keep working. Thank you for sharing.
My tab broke off almost immediately for a brand-new Hero 12. After slamming it out, your trick saved me for the future. You would think they'd implement something sturdier than a small strap or allow the battery to be held in with little clips.
this is also great for those flat batteries on Amazon that don't have tabs at all! Now, my only challenge has been to make this work in North America.... Seems that we might be in a different hemisphere than you! 😉
mine just broke and it's so frustrating, also I keep getting SD card error randomly when filming it sucks, I film for a hour then change battery and it happens.... go pro's aren't the "pro" option

My battery tab broke off i just used super glue sticks it back in place
