That dark purplish/blue spot after pressure treatment is a pressure mark where the plastic optical layers/filters are damaged. I see it all the time in field monitors that are prone to rough treatment and damage. I've also seen dead and hot pixels or pixel groups spontaneously fixing themselves after leaving the monitor alone for a while, only to leave such a pressure mark behind. It's very clear what the cause of the dead/hot pixels was in that case. Groups of dead and hot pixels can be caused by displaced or damaged spacers in the crystal layer of the panel.

Stuck pixels are weird. Had a couple of them in the past and was able to fix both of them because they were just stuck. A quick Google search for a pixel exerciser which basically is a little box that flashes different colors quickly to exercise that pixel can be placed over the bad pixel and surprisingly if it is just stuck with a color on it, in my case it was green both times, it does fix it. Neat quick easy do-it-yourself fix. Dead pixels truly suck though. usually a certain number of them have to be dead or you're just forced to use it and rage. EDIT: after watching the full video you reminded me that I once had to massage a dead pixel back to life as well. Yes really weird but it does work. I had a stuck pixel once and I tried with a microfiber cloth very carefully and gently massaging the small area it was located at being careful not to press too hard because you don't want to see a rainbow effect on the LCD and damage your display. Massaging the pixel I can confirm also does work as well. I've done it, it worked. So the tldr version for anyone who has trouble with a stuck pixel of a specific color, try the j-screen fix he recommends, I've had it work in the past. I've also had massaging the pixel work as well. I would try Jscreen fix first to avoid touching the display. As long as the pixel isn't completely dead the good news is knowing the right information as he provided in this video you can take Brian and fixing it yourself because often you might get lucky and you can. I once had dead pixels on my screen too, but it wasn't the monitor. It was the gfx card's memory. I always saw 2 dead pixels next to eachother on my windows desktop, which had a wallpaper image on it. All "broken" triangles had one corner (vertex) pointing towards the 0-point (world center) of the game world. All due to some memory-locations being damaged. No way to fix that. :P

I think dead pixels are more common than people realize. Most people's eyes aren't sharp enough to see a dead pixel, you actually need really good vision to even see a dead pixel, they are very small.
i had a 20 pixel line of dead pixels pop up all of a sudden and i decided to rub it very lightly, after i rubbed it now there are stuck pixels around the black line pretty much doubling the original size, TF happened? will it grow in size? im scarred because i just got this laptop..

I had this debate (warrantee for dead pixels) with Sony rep in Sony store when buying my TV over 10 years ago. He said the same thing, below is our debate Sony rep: "the price would be way higher to ensure zero pixel faults", Me: "wow that many are sold with broken pixels?" Sony rep: "no it's very rare don't worry" Me: "how rare?" Sony rep: "I don't know exactly but I've sold hundreds and never seen a TV I sold have a dead pixel." Me: "so let's say 1 in 100 at most?" Sony rep: "oh way less than 1 in 100" Me: "then at 2% to all your TVs, that's double the sale price not you cost to produce price of all the TVs you have to replace at most and you can refurbish or reuse parts so that should if anything make you a profit overall and you get to brag zero pixel garentee on all your TVs" Sony rep: "it doesn't work like that" Yes it does, either the failure rate is way more than 1% and many many consumers are dealing with this or they can easily garentee it cause 2% is just £20 on a £1000 TV, that s so little they could legit swallow that cost and still make money on the TVs ( as proven by sales prices) I don't buy the excuse it needs to cost allot for zero pixel protection the only valid argument for not providing it is the e-waste but given they can reuse the parts and refurbish Vs many customers throwing it out entirely earlier than they would have it if was fine also adds to e-waste so that's even debatable
Had a dead pixel with a dark spot around it and then the next day it all disappeared on it's own after leaving my PC off over night and then turning it on again.
Yes, phone's have the same types of screens with the same properties. But fixing those are harder and more likely not possible. (Mostly in the physical side) First because their glass most of times are stronger. Software methods probably will work the same as on a PC display.
I once had a moving cluster of black pixels. Turned out, it was a thrips bug which somehow went between the glass panels. Fortunately, it did not die, but found the edge of the screen. If I had pressed on the screen, I might have killed it (and spilling it's internals).

lg 0 dead pixel policy includes bright etc, that said as the seller stating you dont want the issue most give 7 days exchange.
my lg got a bright green one after 5 years but 4k so tiny and lucky hard to see.
JScreenFix worked perfectly! I had a frozen red sub pixel on my brand new monitor and I tried the web site for an hour or so and now it’s gone. Thank you so much for the vid
the pressing one helped me out! it brings my dead pixel back to life! thanks alot!
This video is so informational. Really appreciate man! Gonna try to fix my laptop display having a TN panel. The display turns on but the brightness is just too low, for all of the pixels on the screen. I can see the content on screen when I put a flash light directly on the screen. What do you think could solve this? Thanks!
Hmm sounds like an issue with the backlight, potentially
@@ThioJoe I see, I'm gonna try to fix it now. Thanks!
Can't believe the third solution fixed my issue!! Thank you so much .
i noticed the description does not have an update, then i noticed that this video was uploaded today.... damn bro that's crazy
May 2022: I just want to say the jscreenfix and use of a damp cloth to "massage" the area worked to eliminate the stuck pixel entirely. Thank you for this video that's still helping people!
Ips display ?
@@tomofthepops Unfortunately not, I have the Dell S2716DG which is a TN panel
@@urbanmarinecc ah ok, I just got an ips monitor and got a green stuck pixel, trying to get if of it so I don't have to bother with the stress of returning.
@@tomofthepops Doesn't hurt to try though dude :) hope it works out for ya
@@tomofthepopsDid you manage to fix it?
Dead Pixel Means Dead Pixel you cant Fix it. Stuck Pixel you can fix it.
...
Very unlikely. 95% of the time it's as broken as a dead pixel except visibly even worse.
just got done moving houses today and while playing a video game i noticed an obviously grey pixel on my screen and now i want to get an entire new monitor but im broke af. and its going to bother me knowing its there.
Came across this whole looking for info on IPS screens since my brand new MSI came with a stuck red pixel. Took a few shots with my cheapy USB microscope and JScreen seems to be helping a bit so I'm going to run a full screen video I also found on UA-cam overnight in hopes that kicks it into gear. If the "noninvasive" attempts don't do it, it's going in for an exchange.
Good video with lots of good info.
Any luck with JScreenFix? My new Dell S2721DGF has three stuck green subpixels.
16:14 I have a spot like that on my screen. How can I fix this? Any suggestions?
IMPORTANT: If you have a dead pixel with a shadow is a windows problem, here i was tapping the dead pixel, pressuring it HARD with a damp cloth and dried one, running Jscreenfix and i saw a thread on reddit saying is windows problem so I restarted my computer and everything is back to normal
What a weird bug. Didn't think restarting would fix it.
@@Addwho yes is because some tab is bugged in 1x1 pixel
does jscreenfix work if i use other tabs?
Are the polarizers why it looks different colors from different angles?
You have a TN panel which is why it’s doing that
I recommend getting a IPS instead
@@windowschips: I do not really mind it, I was just curious as to why.

Oh, alright
So i got a white pixel on black screens and it’s black on a white screen. Is this a hot pixel?
this guy used be get so many views. now he is truly underated.
What happened? Or is it the alrogithm?
yah the algorithm is the dumbest thing to man
Hi man, idk if you re gonna see this comment but i have a big problem. I had a lot of dead pixels and i tought it was from the monitor, i bought another one and is the same thing, i think is from the gpu or the ram and i don't know what can i do. If you can, help me and sorry for my bad english. Thanks
I think dead pixels are more common than people realize. Most people's eyes aren't sharp enough to see a dead pixel, you actually need really good vision to even see a dead pixel, they are very small.
Thanks!
Thank you too!
2:46 I, too, love light-emitting diode diodes.
Lol
is green spot still there or get fixed?
Thank you for the video.
My monitor is over 10yrs old, still works great and has always had a green pixel.
Could I apply what I’ve learnt here to a Nintendo DS Lite? Mine’s got a lot of dead pixels…
Ips: unplug the monitor, big win! :D
i had a 20 pixel line of dead pixels pop up all of a sudden and i decided to rub it very lightly, after i rubbed it now there are stuck pixels around the black line pretty much doubling the original size, TF happened? will it grow in size? im scarred because i just got this laptop..
Thanks for the info! I had no idea about the technology behind the different types of pixels
thank you so much! the Jscreen fix worked and the blue line suddenly dissappeared 1 minute after use! 10/10 tutorial, wish i knew about this when my dad had the same problem
yes ! thank you, I just spend 600 bucks on a monitor, and i have a stuck pixel, they didn't want to send me another
I bought a BenQ EX2710 monitor that arrived yesterday and had a hot pixel so I returned It today and I also got another one today (long story) and this one has 2 stuck pixels that look greenish, I am also sending this one back and got another replacement coming on Thursday but figured I could try something simple to try and get rid of the stuck pixel before that one arrives to cancel the replacement. I'm going to try jscreen. Awesome video.
I had this debate (warrantee for dead pixels) with Sony rep in Sony store when buying my TV over 10 years ago. He said the same thing, below is our debate
Sony rep: "the price would be way higher to ensure zero pixel faults",
Me: "wow that many are sold with broken pixels?"
Sony rep: "no it's very rare don't worry"
Me: "how rare?"
Sony rep: "I don't know exactly but I've sold hundreds and never seen a TV I sold have a dead pixel."
Me: "so let's say 1 in 100 at most?"
Sony rep: "oh way less than 1 in 100"
Me: "then at 2% to all your TVs, that's double the sale price not you cost to produce price of all the TVs you have to replace at most and you can refurbish or reuse parts so that should if anything make you a profit overall and you get to brag zero pixel garentee on all your TVs"
Sony rep: "it doesn't work like that"
Yes it does, either the failure rate is way more than 1% and many many consumers are dealing with this or they can easily garentee it cause 2% is just £20 on a £1000 TV, that s so little they could legit swallow that cost and still make money on the TVs ( as proven by sales prices)
I don't buy the excuse it needs to cost allot for zero pixel protection the only valid argument for not providing it is the e-waste but given they can reuse the parts and refurbish Vs many customers throwing it out entirely earlier than they would have it if was fine also adds to e-waste so that's even debatable
i Bought lenovo legion 7 new laptop and it came with dead pixels and i got it repaired and now a new white pixel appeared. ANNOYING
Thanks I needed this, I threw my mouse at the monitor but there were no cracks just the the stuck pixels on it
Same case
is it normal to get a ded pixel overnight? (ips)
:(
it has a shadow under it too
LOL it hides when i hover my mouse over it.
time to restart PC
its gone now...
wtf happened there?
gave me a heartattack
I love your videos! They're all so interesting and I always learn something new tech related
Had a dead pixel with a dark spot around it and then the next day it all disappeared on it's own after leaving my PC off over night and then turning it on again.
i have a dead subpixle right in my focus area in a certain game, i think it is just there to piss my off.
Does this also affect phones cause I had a phone that when its supposed to show all black parts of the screen had purple pixels
ofc
Yes, phone's have the same types of screens with the same properties.
But fixing those are harder and more likely not possible. (Mostly in the physical side) First because their glass most of times are stronger. Software methods probably will work the same as on a PC display.
I flicked a dead pixel with my finger on my monitor and it fixed immediately! Pretty amazing and simple method not stated in the video…
how did you flicked? Slit or what ?))
@@ChuzMaps that's a good question
Thanks now I see all the messed up pixels on my monitor. I never gave it a thought until now.
I just break out my handy 32 color Crayola crayon box and color them in as needed.
Hey Thio, what about a line of dead pixels?
I once had a moving cluster of black pixels. Turned out, it was a thrips bug which somehow went between the glass panels.
Fortunately, it did not die, but found the edge of the screen.
If I had pressed on the screen, I might have killed it (and spilling it's internals).
My monitor got a pixel what in most of the time its black in white zones its pink and work fine on red and blue what i should do to make the pixel work corectly again
16:29 Lmao. A dark spot after all that hahaha
Oh shit, rubbing it worked, it flashed then faded away immediately, how often can dead pixels occur?
Has anyone got a gaming monitor and suddenly see a milisecond of dead pixels
i thought my monitor has a dead pixel but its just a dust behind the glass/plastic protector
You play valorant for 20 mins as raze main and boom, you've fixed your hard stucked pixel
I have a new ASUS XG27AQM and after 2 days 1 stuck/hot pixel appeared and noticed also a grey spot ( seems to be dust between the panel ). I tried using jscreenfix and didn't work. Today another stuck pixel appeared so I decided to apply pressure on the stucked pixels and guess what ... it did work but the dust spot didn't disappear, obviously. Will I have more issues along the way in time ? what happened to your stuck/hot pixel ?
