The lyric he showed me how I'm supposed to live and now he showed me how to die takes on a whole new meaning with both of them having and unfortunately dying from cancer. Now this is such a moving tribute for both Toby and Wayman. RIP to two great human beings.
Wayman was 6'9" tall and fell on stairs and it was discovered that he had cancer of the knee. Due to his large frame, doctors weren't sure how much chemo to give him and eventually they did amputate his leg in an effort to stop the cancer but ultimately it took his life at age 44. He was multitalented though playing 12 seasons in the NBA and also had a career as a jazz guitarist and pastor. Both Toby and Wayman lived in Oklahoma.
This song hits me hard i was diagnosed with esophageal cancer nothing can be done i have accepted it. R.I.P. Toby i will see you soon my friend. Toby was one of my favorites. play it sweet in heaven sweetheart. Awesome reaction.
God bless you and just remember, none of us has an expiration date. I hope you have many more good days and the angels surround and hold you on your journey home.
I am so sorry to hear that. It takes a lot of courage to share what you're going through, and I really admire your strength. Thank you for watching my reaction. Truly grateful.
I'm just catching up with this video four months late, but I am truly impressed with your empathy and how thoughtful and well-spoken you are. I've just subscribed and I hope I can find more of your reactions to some of the music, such as this, that means so much to me. Thank you.
Yep, that's Toby. He was such an awesome songwriter, whether it's sad or funny. This song sure paints the beautiful relationship Toby and Wayman had. I think you need to react to one of Toby's funny songs like, As Good As I Once Was, or Red Solo Cup.
Tobby was the best & could make you feel so many different emotions. The song he wrote after 9/11 is the most patriotic song I have ever heard, as an American is called 'Courtesy of the red, white & blue, the angry American'. The official video has some great clips shows how many of us feel. Highly recommend. Then for a totally different side of Toby, let him make you laugh. Songs like 'As good as I once was', 'How do you like me now?', 'I wanna talk about me', 'Who's your daddy?', I love this bar', 'Trailerhood' & on & on. He was a funny guy. He also has a great duet with Willie Nelson & the video, like all his video's is outstanding. It's called 'Beer for my horses'. Always look for the official videos for Toby. They are outstanding.
Thank you for taking the time to share this. I have added all your recommendations to my list and hope to get to them eventually. I will make sure to look for the video.
Look up the story …. Wayman Tisdale was a college basketball player who became a professional basketball player. He was also a fantastic jazz musician. Toby Keith has an amazing catalog of songs - check them out!
Both very talented people. It is so sad when people leave us that young and had so much more to do and give to the world. I hope they are reunited now.
Appreciate your compassion, but the ability to experience sorrow opens your heart to receive great joy. Hope you look for and welcome the joy life has for YOU!
Wayman Tisdale had the biggest brightest smile & died of bone cancer that resulted in his leg being amputated. Sadly, and ironically Toby tribute to his friend who died of cancer would be the same disease that just killed Toby.
I was 9y when my grandma died and i was heartbroken. Just found out my mom had an old tape from an answering machine. Was so hoping to hear her voice again but didnt get the tape to work yet 😞
I’ve always loved this song & felt it was far too overlooked; ‘underheard & underseen’ as I call it. Toby could indeed be hella funny, but I feel at times this side of him got lost. What a broad range of talent he lent to this world! My Mom died of cancer at 58 & my Dad at 66. At 30yo, both of my parents were gone. I knew all too well when we watched Toby on the Opry stoically perform ‘Don’t Let The Old Man In’ what was coming- and sooner, not later😔 Let’s face it- we all did. And still- I surprised even myself by how the tears immediately flowed when my husband told me he had passed. I suppose when someone has been so much a part of the soundtrack of your life- it can indeed hit you in a more personal way than you might have ever imagined🥺 Would also highly recommend ‘Love Me If You Can’. Thank you for reacting to this; SUBSCRIBED. Stay safe & love big💖
when my dad passed away, i took his outgoing voice mail and had it made into a CD. that way when i miss his, i play that CD! its only a quick message, but its still him and his lovely voice!!
He and Toby were best friends, both from Oklahoma . This guy went on to play basketball NBA for pheonix suns until he got cancer. But after he played basketball he also was a very gifted blues musician.
Toby is gone and we lost a great patriot. There is another Comedic Country singer who is also a great Patriot. Trace Adkins "Arlington" is a great song of his.
I only discovered him now, because a subscriber told me about him. This was a beautiful song. I will add your recommendation to my list. Thank you so much.
Listen to “Don’t Let The Old Man In’ it’s kinda like Johnny Cash’s cover of “Hurt” both of those songs were the last songs of their career before they died

Such a powerful song. It definitely made me reflect on my own life and think about my loved ones. May they both rest in peace.
I’ve done that! Hurts but you can still hear their voice❤️
This song hits different now. We are crying for us. He saw his friend Wayman on the other side and they are playing it sweet in heaven together.
I can imagine how this song now hits for fans. It was already tough for me, but such a beautiful tribute to his friend.
We are crying now. Thank you Toby for all the joy!

Thank You. I appreciate you covering this.
Thank you Toby and Wayman for the gifts you gave us in the time you were alloted.
It was my pleasure. A beautiful song and tribute to a friend. Thank you for suggesting it.
Your correct, he was a NBA player and then later a jazz musician. I believe
What a talented guy. It's really heartbreaking he passed away so young.
Wayman was an All American basketball ball player and NBA as well. They were like brothers 😢
Both very talented people. It is so sad when people leave us that young and had so much more to do and give to the world. I hope they are reunited now.
I am yet to see anyone react to Toby's 2nd number 1 single from 1994 -- Who's That Man.
I will add it to my list. Thanks for watching and the recommendation.
