Wayman had the biggest & brightest smile I have ever seen. He was a hell of a person also and very sad what happened to him. As irony would have it if you don't know, Toby is struggling with stomach cancer for the last year and it's been really tough on him the treatments. Yes cancer is an equal opportunity killer.
This has been my favorite Toby Keith song since it first came out. It was at a time when I was experiencing several family losses and it spoke to me so deeply and still does. I'm also an Okie and a OU Alumni so of course, knew of Wayman. They will both always be remembered as two of the most humble and kind Oklahoma legends ever. ❤️
I'm so so sorry for your loss of your dad. It's really hard I know it was horrible for me when my dad passed. Now I think about him and smile remembering all the memories we shared together. My dad died of a lung disease. But time does help us. Although I still miss him terribly I can now smile when I look at his picture or remember a memory of him. God Bless You

My own Mom had just turned 58 when it took her; we’d known for all of 17wks she was sick. I’d add- Get in the kitchen w your parents & grandparents! So much of what my Mom made she made by memory. A pinch of this, a shake of that... I make a point now when my (adult) son is visiting these days to get him in the kitchen once or twice, show him how I make or prep this or that. Speaking of cancer patients, Toby has been fighting stomach cancer for a little over a year now. My dad fought colon cancer for 16.5 years. He had been given 3 months to live. Me in December I will be 5 years cancer free. My one regret is my phone got damaged and while trying to get it repaired they erased my dad's last voicemail. That hurt almost as much as losing him in the first place.

I came across a picture an OU Sooner fan posted a selfie picture on Twitter the other day, where they ran into Toby around Norman, Oklahoma. Toby's a huge OU fan. Man, it made me very sad to see Toby in that state. He's very very skinny right now, because of the stomach cancer he has. He could really use some prayers.

Toby Keith has cancer now. Stomach cancer. I heard a couple of weeks ago the cancer has spread to his brain, not sure if that part is true but Toby is suffering from cancer.

It spreading to brain isn't true. Toby said it shrank by a third. And he's feeling better.
