Thanks, I just got a 201K for essentially the cost of the fuel and was having trouble getting the tension spot on. Your tip about getting the nut flush with the post at about setting 4 was the clue I needed to get it just right.
HOLY MOLY! I think this worked. I think I had the dial on backwards! 🤣 Another thing I am seeing in all of the tension videos is that little stop washer has the hook on the end of it pointing out on one end... mine doesn't have that and is shorter, Maybe it broke off? It seems my dial still isn't turning correctly.
Congratulations! There is a good possibility that the ear on the washer is broken. A few aftermarket upper thread tension units I've seen cheaped out and didn't use a proper washer with ear.
Hi Bob, thanks for your content. @2:30 the pin you refer to does not engage the follower for me. We have reassembled multiple times to see what we're doing wrong. It seems as if it's too short, but it's the same pin we took out. Any ideas of what I could be missing? Thank you!
Do you have any videos on how to remove and replace the whole tension unit on a 201K? I can find plenty on how to disassemble clean and reassemble but I want to replace the whole unit, and find out how to do this, which screws to undo etc
Please, I have a problem in the tension of my singer 201k machine that i couldn't fix : the sewing make a lot of yarn under the cloth that mean the upper tension is not tied enough, but when i tie it more the yarn cut the back geared part of the middle bar has a part length of few millimeters outside its hole ---> i don't know if it is normal or not. Also, i don't know if this is the reason that make the back spring is not in touch with the back disc or not. or does the back spring should be in touch with the back disc or not ?
Thank you so much for this video! My tension dial was completely wrong.
Thanks, Bob! I was panicking when my newly acquired 201 started having problems. Your video helped me diagnose the fault and correct it. Thanks again!
I appreciate your video's so much. Thank you for taking the time to make and post them
Thanks Lisa, I'm glad they help!

Glad it helped!
I'd very much like to see the full teardown for the 201 upper thread assembly. Something is off about mine and I'd like to really dig in
Great video! Just what I needed today. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Theo, make sure the stud is fully seated.
