Thanks so much for explaining this in detail! Also for showing whether the presser foot is down or up when you're doing a particular activity. So many videos don't show or say this part!
Mine is way too tight with the pressure foot down. I'm so glad you put this video out, as i now know what it is suppose to be like, and I can troubleshoot the tensioner.
Thanks for making this video! It's so clear and helpful. I just took the tensioner assembly apart on a 201-2 I'm cleaning and restoring. After reassembling I notice the spring had very little tension. I assumed I would either need to live with it that way or purchase a new one. This video showed me that I just need to rotate the spring counter-clockwise and I should be good to go. Bravo!
Thank you I was able to remove the assembly including removing the entire assembly to get the slots for the indicator to,line up at the top ( see small screw which holds it in place just behind the thread guard )... Your video was very helpful and now the 201-2 that 8 fixed for my niece, a quilter, will be a great machine for her. Mi own one too, but it had already been repaired to good working order. What I was a bit afraid of doing, is now something ai know ai can do because of your video.
the pin you mention at 4:05 , what is its function? does it interact with the presser foot or does it do something else to lock the tension adjustment in place? thanks! I don't have this exact model (I'm trying to figure out a, er, mystery vintage that doesn't have manual and missing manufacturer and model information) and going through youtube to try to find a similar assembly to the machine I'm trying to get working.
Please help me I have a small question I have a 15-91 and 201-2 the reverse lever on the 15-91 is way harder than the 201-2 do have any idea why I already took apart and lubricate all the machine but I can figure out. Why still a little hard thank you
@@BlacksPorsche986 So, does this spring is in touch ( or should in touch ) with the back disc so the thread tension is adjusted by the pressure result from the front big spring together with the back spring ?
Excellent video! Thanks so much.

Your instruction saved me a lot of anguish, money, time and bad stitches due to tension problems. Thank you sir.
I will second that!
One of the few explainations that is not missing any of the fine points of adjustment... Thank YOU.

Thanks so much Sir for the good sharing. Finally resolved the tension issue with my inherited Singer 224 machine.

Could you please explain us the job of the behind spring ?
and what should happen if we remove it and don't assemble with the other tension parts ?
Take up spring keeps slack out of upper thread.
