Barbara O'neill recommends it especially for constipation, to drink as tea well before meals and 3-4 times a day , to drink most of the days water early, eat like a king at breakfast, a queen at lunch, and tea as a pauper.

Although I am not a Christian, I know truth and wisdom when I hear it, apply it, and heal.😊
An Ayurvedic practitioner put me on some decades ago due to issues I had after e-coli and antibiotics. It’s something I’ve never forgotten how well it worked and I’ve seen it help animals as well. Thank you for your video!
Thanks for watching!
I also found that if my bladder or urethra gets inflamed from something I’ve eaten or drank (acidic foods) that slippery elm will coat and soothe those areas.
May God bless you as well thank you
Thank you Doctor.
Thanks for watching Jude!
Hello Dr. Is Sliepper safe for all other organs like Liver and Kidneys? Thanks
Hi doc.
Whats a recommendation brand to take for slippery elm?
How would I test to see if I'm alergic before I take it..
Thanks for info. Dr Pickel - I should also mention I have epilepsy and I am taking lamictal & Keppra - I heard somewhere that there was a possibility that things like slippery elm may coat and any medication you are taking and not be absorbed that well. Do you know anything about that.
Great question Craig! Yes, it is possible and many sources say to take it 2 hours before or after meds. I am sure there are many other factors such as dosage, current gut absorption issues/gut inflammation, and possibilities. I have not seen issues with patients, but you do have to consider this and possibly speak to the prescribing doctor. Hope this helps!
My question is, does Slippery Elm absorb minerals from the food I eat with Slippery Elm? Does slippery elm absorb minerals from the intestines in general?
Thank you!
Can a 7 month old baby with eczema take 200mg tablet powder in a day .
I have epilepsy and would
really like to know if would interfere in any way with my antiseizure
medication which is Lamictal and Keppra.
Great question! I have not seen any researched interactions, but due to the mucilage fiber, Slippery Elm could affect drug absorption. It may be wise not to take them at the same time of day. Also, I always have to tell everyone to talk to their doctor first, but I have never seen a problem before with patients.
I’m having a conflict hopefully you can give me some answers. I started taking slippery elk in liquid form along with chlorophyll and have started having blood with my movements with no pain but it’s a significant amount of blood could this have something to do with the slippery elm???! Should I stop taking it?
Hi, it would be good to note if it was light colored blood (usually hemmorhoids or bleeding closer to the anus) or dark colored blood (usually coming from higher up in the system). Either way, the slippery elm may not be the cause, but could be allowing the immune system in your gut to become stronger with less inflammation. This in turn could cause your gut to expel parasites or other pathogens and cause temporary bleeding. This type of issues would only last a few days though. If it is persistent, I would recommend that you go to a doctor and get examined further for hemorrhoids (which can be internal - will typically be lighter blood) or something else that is causing the bleeding - there are many possibilities.
The dosage says 7800mg per 2 tablespoons and it’s the powder but people say they take 400-500mg so how do I take the powder form I’m confused?
Hi! Great question. I don't know what brand that is, but obviously it has a lot in it there. Some people encounter only mild symptoms like nausea at higher doses, but it is rare. I have many patients that start at 800mg to 1gram per day and work up. It also depends upon the quality/strength of the brand and what they use. Many (I hate to say) "cheaper" brands sold on the internet would need a higher dose to work. I would start with maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp and see how things go, and then slowly increase the dose until a difference is noted. Thanks for watching!
If you have some kind of bacteria or infection in your digestive system will taking slippery elm get rid of it and if so how long are approximately might it take .
Hi Craig, slippery elm may help some, but possibly look into something stronger like Berberine: ua-cam.com/video/WZvAs5_fADA/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/donI138M9ac/v-deo.html (sorry for the delay in response.
@@DrJasonPickel I have always pain on the rib left and right and pain in the belly this will help I start today
If taking slippery elm before a meal could it stop the nutrients of food to absorb?
No
Hi,
when is the best time to take slippery elm for acid reflux?
If it is taken during a meal, will it impact the absorption of nutrients from the meal?
Hi Melonie, I have never seen it impact nutrient absorption. Many take it before the meal or with the first bite. Thanks for watching
Barbara O'neill recommends consuming well before a meal and not drinking anything with the meal .
is slippery elm safe for the liver?
Hi Robert, I have never seen issues of any hepatotoxicity with any patient and I don't see any issues in the literature. Every once in awhile I have had a patient complain of some nausea, but that was typically solved with a dosage change. Of course, I don't know any of yours or someone else's current medications or current conditions so I do always have to say, "contact your doctor before taking any herbs or botanicals for any contraindications which may apply to your health issues". Thanks for the great question!
How long can it take to make acid reflux/Gerd better how long should you take it for
Hi Evan, thanks for watching! It depends upon the "cause". Some patients - this works within a week. Other patients may need help with H. Pylori infections and Berberine may help this, or this supplement: optimalhealthsystems.link/Opti-GI
How has your issues came along?
I have Gerd. If i have a flare-up, i usually drink it for two 2 days, and all of my symptoms are gone. It really just depends on the person and their condition. Try it for a week also change up your diet too
Does it help with gastritis?
Yes
Can I take it while breastfeeding?
You usually don't want to take herbs and botanicals while pregnant or breastfeeding. I would consult your doctor first. I do have some patients what have taken it with no problem though. Thanks for watching!
Does slippery elm decrease appetite?
Hi T, It does help with blood sugar issues and this may decrease the cravings for sweets. I don't think it is an appetite suppressant. Thanks for watching!
@@DrJasonPickel thank you!
