    I didn't even know dust filter existed in Photoshop. I have been removing individual specks like an animal. Like a wild animal, with a Photoshop license.

    Missed opportunity for a sponsorship from Neutrogena... "here's how you can remove pores from a picture ooooorrrrrr.... get rid of them in the first place with this 30 day skincare plan!"

      Perfect! Spend 60% of the video rubbing creams on my face. Mouse becomes too slippery to edit. Goes for nap.

    As an alternative to smart filters I use the 'remove dust & scratches' filter on a layer duplicat. Layer set to 'darken' kills only white dust & protects dark areas (or vice versa). Nice work, Gerald :)

    Thank you! I used to use Gaussian blur for this, but I like this method better!

    When I think of the amount of clone stamping I've done, I'm grateful to you for the amount I'll no longer be doing. Thank you.

    • @geraldundone
      @geraldundone  5 років тому

      Ha! Thanks, Larry. That's exactly why I use this method. It doesn't replace clone stamping for all applications. Doesn't do anything for smudges or blotchiness, but it does make quick work of this situation.

      @@geraldundone I just digitized 3 decades of color and b+w negatives and slides. There was no getting around the clone/heal tool.

      Yes it does. I am running version 12 which also gives you an additional slider to fine tune. In my opinion C1 gives me a little more flexibility than Lightroom, just my opinion.

    For light skin, make a second copy this layer, change the top layer to 'lighten' blend mode and lower the opacity of both as desired. Darken for dark surfaces.

    This was working for me and now it isn't. I converted to smart layer, added dust and & scratches filter, inverted the smart filter layer, and switched to brush (white swatch selected). But now I brush over any part of the image and it literally does *nothing.* Why isn't it working??

      I don't hear a difference. There was nothing different in the recording or processing. Should be the same.
      The delivery is a bit different of course, when you talk down to a monitor while editing vs project toward the audience. But it shouldn't sound that different.
