There’s also an unofficial add on mod made by some of the cal devs called infernum that adds a new difficulty above death that completely changes how the fights work. GitGud already made a video on it if you want to know more but it’s essentially eternity mode but for calamity. It’s pretty neat and the cool thing is they’re planning to make it an alternative to malice in terms of getting challenge drops, tho they haven’t implemented that yet since the mod only goes up to mechs and mech alts atm.

Me and my friends are doing a death mode run and oh my god it's so fun...and painful. Also we make questionable boss choices, like us killing austrum aureus before plantera. Or lunatic cultists right after golem
Also doing a death play through, killed leviathan and about to kill austrum aureus, i'm just trynna get every single trophy, mask and plushy in the game. I missed dark mage so i gotta wait for tier 3 old one's army for that but i've done all of the pre-hardmode ones (even perforator hive and brain and it's a corruption world)
can't wait to get a new pc, buy terraria and play calamity. you are the best calamity mod youtuber for info and guides and watching you while playing on ps4 is very fun (and ironic)

Malice tooltip: Optional mode, it is intended to be a boss rematch, however bosses are doable on-tier The first part is just a lie, it's not optional, You will need some of these items to advance because they were created with revengance progression in mind(example the dodge scarf) and now they cannot be obtained in revengance. If you advance far enough so that the rematch battles become FAIR, then the rewards become obsolete, for example what will the dune hopper do for me if I'm already in hard mode (and you need to reach hard mode to make malice desert scourge FAIR since his AI tracks you too well too quickly and you require strong wings+a dash to properly avoid it) This combination of unfairness, excessive grinding, means that no matter what you choose to do I'll be unfair and unfun, even if you're skillful enough to beat it on-tier, you still need to overprepare like your life depends on it I like grinding, i like to challenge myself, but i demand fairness, eternity mode was the hardest mode in terraria modded until malice came out, but eternity is perfectly fair, the infernium mod is also a really hard addition to calamity but still fair. Malice just broke the mold and said "screw it they want hard we'll give hard" and made it obligatory to fight unfair fights it to progress in the fair ones

@@ultratronger they made a hotfix update more or less 2 weeks after my comment, because everyone was saying the same complaints They nerfed quite a bit of the unfair AI, though keeping the extremely high dmg (which isn't a honestly a problem, bosses could be 1hit ko and as long as the AI is fair i wouldn't bother), some bosses still feel stupid but at least dessert scourge is doable wingless now They also made it so those Malice mode unique item drops either got removed or reworked and available in all difficulties, making my biggest complaint, a non issue
I haven't played calamity mod in 2 years. Currently, I'm playing Terraria Fargo souls mod with Eternity mode active and will the cruel eternity God rules (Check Cataclysm Armageddon's Fargo souls bosses to see the rules). I sure hope I won't suffer too much when I come back to Calamity mod next month (playing on revengeance). Especially after having to scream at Eternity mode twins and Duke Fishron with my pre moon lord gear.

I beat abomination in about 15 attempts while twins took me 144.because I kept getting crushed in between the death ray and the dark star spin. Edit: It took me 28 tries to beat eternity mutant and it took me 144 to beat the Mechanical Gemini (eternity twins), it's because of the fact that sometimes the death ray spin is impossible to dodge without being hit by the star or the death ray.

Even some nohitters and devs doubt that defiled malice arma is possible. Obviously it would work up until at least calclone, since you don't have wings for the majority of pre hardmode anyway, and quick reforges+sandstorm in a bottle can outrun some of the early hardmode bosses, but whether it would continue to work in late hardmode/postML is a whole different story. Tho calamity's next patch will make it so defiled gives a boost to your double jump speed that scales with progression, getting +8% speed post skeletron, +10% in hardmode, and +20% post ML so that might make it more possible.

Me and my friend recently duo'd malice mode yharon with gear from moon lord only (lunar armor and moon lord weapon drops only) It took us over 100 attempts our sanity disappeared H E L P .

Personally, I dislike the changes to armageddon, they could have nerfed it to give less bags - or made it so the extra bags would only always drop on rev or death mode. Im just trying to say the extent of the change was unnecessary. I still grind easy bosses for money, it just takes way longer now.

I beat death mode and I think malice? On calamity once but was using larger accessory ports mod, was still hard as fuck until Providence, past that I got some other modded weapons that was just insane against calamity for some reason
Yeah vanilla world dificulties work with calamity So for example master mode will be harder than expert revengence, master mode with revengence or death mode will be harder than just master mode, etc

Not necessarily a challenge mode, but there’s also something similar to the Defiled Feather called the Ball and Chain, which disables dashing.

Revengence is prfered as standard difficulty cause it helps you to get into the new mechanics that are introduced in Calamity

I think there was an update to the malice tooltip that now specifies that it's intended as a "Boss rematch mode", instead of an actual difficulty.

A recent patch fixed that. I tried farming perforator while outside the crimson as it is being consumed by the hallowed and it did not drop carnage.

I beat death mode and I think malice? On calamity once but was using larger accessory ports mod, was still hard as fuck until Providence, past that I got some other modded weapons that was just insane against calamity for some reason
Does the vanilla world difficulties affect calamity, or only the vanilla parts of the game?
I can't seem to find an answer on this.
Yeah vanilla world dificulties work with calamity
So for example master mode will be harder than expert revengence, master mode with revengence or death mode will be harder than just master mode, etc
