I've got a few. A practical guide is 'The Pain Management Workbook' by Zoffness...'The Mindbody Prescription' by Sarno. (Theoretical and somewhat outdated, but it *really* helped me too) The Body Keeps the Score' by Van der Kolk . (Also more theoretical.)

These are typically the two I recommend. Many people also like Dr. Sarno's books!

I’m curious… work isn’t where my pain started, but it has became a trigger with standing on my feet all day and how my symptoms have moved and spread. It’s something I have to do so I’m constantly being exposed… not avoiding… but my body has definitely associated work with amplifying pain. I guess at that point it’s more about talking and convincing my brain and body. That work is safe… while im there?

Yes this is so hard when the exposure is forced! So sorry to hear what you are going through. Essentially yes during the exposure it would be creating safety behaviorally, cognitively, and somatically. Making it a positive experience can be key!

I finally noticed the pain came whether I exercised or not - so it was NOT caused by the exercise. It came when I was under stress, and repressing some of the feelings around it. Ditto with the so-called "histamine" reaction. It wasn't the food, but the stress! The brain came to associate pain or discomfort with certain kinds of exercise and food. This is fascinating and SO helpful! When I'm relaxed and enjoying myself (or the stress is eustress not the negative kind) I can easily exercise more or eat some "high histamine" foods without a reaction. I look forward to my brain getting that both food and exercise are perfectly safe. Ah, it will be so lovely to dance for 3 hours and eat almost anything as I used to! But I'm dancing daily and no longer worried when there's a setback or new symptom as both are evidence of neuroplasticity. I've even discovered some patience - which I NEVER had before in my life! (The good fairy forgot that.) Thanks you two, great video!

Hi Tanner, do you have any videos on working with movement ? Mainly when I exercise the sensations come on ( certain movements like bending ) I’m working to give messages of safety as I do those movements but it can get very tedious and anxiety can really peak as I’m a dancer getting back into things and choreo can be quick and brain over reacts as I try to move my body and it’s tight and stiff as I’m dancing 🥹 .. I love the videos you have on relaxing the body and giving messages of safety but do you have any videos whilst actually moving and how to approach the sensations ??
I love your stuff - what a wonderful giving soul you are 🙏

This would be so awesome Tanner, working with movement. I am doing the somatic practices and they are wonderful but as soon as I sit down all my sensations turn off 😂 but as soon as I bend over or dance it turns on! So I’ve been doing the practices whilst moving but if you do a video like this in the near future I would be so appreciative 🙏
