I am calling it an extinction burst, much better energy! After listening to you and Anne, an extinction burst is a better fit.

I stopped analyzing flares, it wasn't helpful for me. I consider the last point, did anything happen recently that evoked some emotions I should have a look at? but then if I don't find anything, I leave it be and accept it how it is. Tbh - especially the idea of the healing window held me back for a long time as it stresses the idea of overdoing. It increased my fear, I tried hard NOT to overdo it, so I would not get a flare. Paradoxically I did get more flares and symptoms. I don't run marathons but I'm better with an intuitive approach and reframing 'My body is healthy, I can do this, seems my brain is still not 100 percent convinced, that's fine. It'll pass.'

I think I have a conditioned response to warm/hot weather. I always feel so ill in summer.

    Hi Tanner,
I have a question about the way to handle sensations. My nervous system feels tired, symptoms are high. For me it's difficult to feel if am just tired or to preoccupied with the symptoms and just need to do more in a mindfullness way. Simply put: rest more or more exposure. It feels like being burnout, mental tension.
Maybe you have a video about this. It makes me feel unsecure. Rest or move through it.

Sorry for the delay. This is a good question, and it is a dance between avoiding and approaching essentially. We need a balance of both at different points in our healing. I will do a video on this soon!

@@painpsychotherapy thats a really helpfull answer. My brain wants a black and White answer but the solution is in the middle. Thats a new way of living for me i guess with all or nothing mentality. Thanks a lot...! I will see your video about this when its there.

I could never understand how it is that the brain producing pain or symptoms could protect us. What is the rationale behind that when it comes to the brain? It seems to me that it’s the exact opposite and it causes harm rather than protecting anything.

Good question. Yes, symptoms such as pain, fatigue, anxiety, or depression are danger signals sent from the brain as an attempt to protect us and warn us of danger. We often think of pain as a danger signal meaning physical damage, however it is often sent as a sign of emotional danger.
