In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
i just bought a hook 2 and am a novice with it's operation . my old lowrance elite had volt meter display this i found useful as about half my time was spent fishing from a canoe and could gauge battery life with portable battery under 6 pounds weight . portaging a canoe ,fishing rods , fish finder and whatever like lunch rain gear lures etc means hourly operation of unit is critical and even with a new lithium ion battery 10 amp hr as it does not last 10 hrs . if i knew the volt scale i would likely shut it down and save battery for more important use later in the day. the hook 2 is a great unit and i do like it . just put volt meter back on future models there are lots of back lake users for the hook2 i don't portage a boat that has a 12 volt system.

Depth is not stable with my device and moving so fast up and down. I'm pretty sure that it is installed the right way, could it be a faulty or do I have to press something after starting the device?

Thanks for reviewing the hook2 years ago...lol. I do have a question about that unit I hope u can help me with. My lowrance hook2 7 hdi, the box says us lakes, fishfinder/chartplotter. I'm unable to see contour lines on my unit just water and shore line. Do I need a chip for that info or does something need changed in my settings.
My unit has a all white screen on my gps. Any knowledge of this and why?
how well will this work on shallow water lakes under 10 ft
not that great for finding fish. but it can tell you if there is grass or rocks or other structure very well.
Question: When you make these custom setting changes in demo mode, do they stick when you put it back in normal mode? Awesome tutorial by the way.

I just installed the hook 2 and can not get it to turn on I checked the power cord and I do have power there.
Great video...i just received a Hook2 5 asa replacement for my Hook 5, i used it today for the 1st time. I fish saltwater but it shouldn't matter for my question. Immediately i noticed the sonar/Down scan imaging doesn't display drop-offs as a steep falloff as my Hook5 did , for example ,coming off a sandbar into a channel , the image is very gradual. Are my settings wrong?

My depth finder hook 2 has a illuminating screen but will not turn off and is blank screen
I like the way every video I watch on these things the unit is already turned on and working. When I first took mine out to the lake I pushed the button with a circle and a line (WTF?) in it and it didn't do anything....so I pushed something else and the screen did something and then turned dark....and the sun was out that day....and I couldn't tell what the buttons did so I tried to cup my hands to see what the F was going on and I ran over a float tuber. Can someone please start from the beginning and actually turn it on and show that there's a delay in most every function change? Why doesn't the on/off button say "on/off"......the F?

What's that blank black box on the display at the 18:00 minute mark? I see them a lot....
On 5-8-23 i called for tech support I was no.18 in line after 30 minutes I hung up and tried to fix my self I called back now no.27 in line after 1.52 minutes i got to talk to some lady that new nothing about hook2 4x after 30 minutes I asked for tech supervisor she hung up on me but called me back 10 minutes later.then made the transfer and now no. 7 in line after 1.45 minutes Im next in line, oh no it's 5pm and they hung up lowrance closed up for the day. If you buy any of their products and have problems I warned you.

Would you use this unit on a pontoon raft, I have a Colorado XT and I’m shopping for a gps/sonar unit for it and I think it’ll either be the lowrance hook or the garmin striker, which would you choose? The hook seems to have many more features but the garmin looks to be about half the size. Though the hook really doesn’t look very big.
this video is featuring a lowrance hook2 5. i prefer it because you can upload custom contour maps to it. Every brand has different size screens. the most common sizes are 4,5,7,9,12 inch screens. I don't know what the garmin striker plus cv 5 has to offer in terms of features.

I had the same problem. The Lowrance site had a video page that says to make sure the plug is pushed all the way into the unit. I pushed it more and no help. I'm wondering if I have the plug in the correct orientation? I shined a flashlight into the socket and saw 2 bumps inside the socket. Looking carefully at the plug I saw 2 notches, The correct orientation is that the 2 notches are at the top. This makes it so the plug, when inserted, clears the 2 bumps and goes all the way in. I wish i could draw this for you. When the plug goes all the way in, the rings on the outside of the plug dissapear into the socket. When i had it in the wrong way, I could see that 2 of the rings were still visible. Once I lined up the notches correctly, then I had sonar. I hope you get the sonar going.

I just bought a hook2 7 inch for my bass raider it came with inland lake maps is that useful
somewhat useful. guess it depends how detailed they are. some are crap, but some are good. Best maps are custom maps or, if they have your lake, navionics.
How do you get the maps on the fisfinder. How do you you update?

David Tatro you really can’t. Demo mode isn’t a good simulation of real fishing.
Is there a Lowrance program or something I can use to put tracks and waypoints on a SD card and then transfer them to my Hook2?

Lowrance is total junk so sad I wasted money on this catch fish all day nothing on the screen not at all accurate telling the depth or the depth goes totally away TOTAL JUNK
same here. Unsure if it is us or the product. We tried 2 different mounting spots for the Bullet Skimmer transducer. Mounted opposite trolling motor now. We basically see nothing, ever. Just depth and supposedly lake floor. Not once do we see what should be a fish or a structure. Everything above the floor is black. Even when we know there are trees/weeds and much more under the water.
A very poor product ,an American company with instructions in a heep of languages except English. What is that all about

Its a pretty complicated system for an old fisherman... not like my old garmin... they should be ashamed for slack tech support... im fishing, not living the latest tech gizmo.... bottom line, ill beat any of u tech savvy millenials at the ramp.. its fishin not computer programming 102..
